PHOTO INDEX: SANTA OBAMA AND BABE UNDER A TREE.

CHRISTMAS 2009

A few happy videos to celebrate this season. This year my Christmas spirit has yet to arrive. For those of you in the same fix as I am, hope this makes your holiday.
A regular feature of this site has been our "Two Hot Girls In the Shower". They have graced us with their presence for the season.

One of the best times in my life was when I worked at WRKC FM in Wilkes Barre. I was there at a time when King's students had better things to do than disrespect an entire religion. Anyway, one of the best things about being there around the holidays was "The Mad Drummer's Christmas Special". A collaborative effort, the show was a staple of FM Radio in the 70s. Here's a few gems:

And two of my favorite Christmas songs, from Louie Prima and Wilson Phillips.

The Mad Drummer's Christmas Special was great. My favorite bit was Santa was a Commie and will lead his followers in a Christmas revolt.

Merry Christmas Mr. Yonki.

Me, you and the babe under the tree. A part of you and the tree will be the only things upright. ;

For the Luzerne County officials
you should locate John Prines Christmas in Prison.
It begins: "it was Christmas in Prison and the food was real good,
We had turkey and pistols carved out of wood"
Ill find it for next year when there will be a bunch of em in the slammer.
Merry Christmas Luzerne County.

The Christmas Robins
While on-the-air at Magic 93 recently, and pondering how I'd prefer many aspects of my life to be more to my liking, I experienced
an enlightening visit. Amidst the flurry of my "Designated DJ" duties, I paused a moment to look outside at the towering tree just tall enough to reach the second
floor studio window. There, perched on a branch at my eye level, was a beautiful robin delicately balancing itself against a howling wind and snow squall. As I noticed this determined bird, it slowly turned and looked directly at me. With a confident gaze, it was if the robin was saying ...
"Be strong, Friend. Whatever your worries and woes are in THERE,
I am dealing with quite a challenge out HERE. Together, we will get through this. And, I promise! I will bring better days in the Spring!"
Suddenly, a second robin flew in and snuggled itself directly beside the other.
As if the presence of another added validation and security to this image.
I glanced back at the audio console before me and out the window again. In this instant, the robins disappeared in a burst of whirling snowflakes. Little visions like this at Christmas remind me of a bigger obstacle another young Family faced. Alone. Scared. Rejected. Their night in a chilly, humble stable gave birth to Hope. Part of the plan for everyone.

Merry Christmas, Friends!

Be confident knowing unlikely allies are watching out for us.

bob bolus is a good man. he is over the top, self centered, but he does more good than many of us ever will. he got in the mud with the object of your man crush kevin lynn and came out like a class act, while kevin was juvenile and hot-headed. (edited)

Merry Christmas.
This year I'm thankful for the following:
The light of Justice may have found Shenandoah. The balloon boys parents are going to jail. The 15 year old burned in Florida went home for Christmas.
Scranton's crazed Bishop is gone,
somewhere.
My family is well. And I just learned Susan Sarandon is back on the market!

just got news report on bolus's christmas dinner. what a good man. i am amazed kevin lynn stated that he would not give up any of his christmas day to help those less fortunate. what an evil man

I have to wonder why Kevin Lynn was so negative about Mr. Bolus and his dinner. I never heard anyone demean a charitable act as did Mr. Lynn. Very sad day. If he didn't want to help out that is okay, but to yell and scream, hurl epithets at Mr. Bolus and intimate that the diner was a self serving sham is disgusting and he should be suspended from the air. I am contact the FCC and launching a complaint.
I am pretty sure you won't approve this. We all know your strident defense and the cover you provide for WILK

KEVIN SHOULDN'T GIVE UP HIS CHRISTMAS DAY TO DO THE BOLUS THING. HE MADE AN OFF HAND COMMENT, SAID IT WAS SARCASTIC. NO ONE SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, ESPECIALLY SOMEONE IN BROADCASTING WHICH IS ENTERTAINMENT, FOR SARCASM. EVIL? THERE WAS A GUY NAMED 'DOLPH IN THE 3os and 40s, THAT'S EVIL.

YOU WANT TO SUSPEND KEVIN LYNN FOR AN OFF HAND SARCASTIC COLUMN AND YOU DON'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT LIMBAUGH AND MICHAEL SAVAGE? C'MON. I THINK WHAT BOB BOLUS DID WAS GREAT, BUT KEVIN HAS A RIGHT TO RANT.

I DID APPROVE IT, SO THERE. AND THAT'S THE SECRET OF THE SUCCESS OF WILK, YOU FINALLY UNDERCOVERED THE GREAT MYSTERY. IT'S NOT THE SIGNALS OR ENGINEERRING, NOT THE TALENT, NOT THE SALES REPS WHO BUST THEIR ASSES EVERYDAY, NO IT'S ME PROVIDING "COVER" FOR THEM. FINALLY THE TRUTH REVEALED.

God forbid we hold anyone accountable. What is the point of life if you are not accountable for your comments?

the morning show is the most interchangeable of all WILK's shows. Kevin Lynn was a flop at WARM and could be replaced tomorrow. Rumor on one of the boards is John Webster may have been approached. Think WILK dumping Kevin and putting Johnnie there would improve ratings dramatically.

Gort,

I'm trying to figure out how to present a "There Is NO SANTA Claus!" by 'Melvin Crumb' video on youtube.

As soon as it seems that I can do it justice I'll post it...any suggestions?

BTW: the bit was written by Ted Bird for a speech class at King's. The minute I heard it I asked for a copy and Ted obliged. We did did it the first time live and then somehow misplaced the script.

The next year I casually mentioned it being lost during a show. One week later a listener Chris Skrinak stopped by when I was on the air and gave me a cassette tape of the original performance! I will always remember that moment.
He told me his house caught fire that year and the cassette was one of the few things that survived. I swore right then and there I would never make that mistake again.

Ted passed this year (WAY too young) and I feel like I owe it to him to get it done.

Thanks for the space Dave.

MAD Drummer
