The LuLac Edition #1137, Mar. 31st, 2010

BREAKING NEWS

WNEP TV is reporting and LuLac has confirmed through two other sources that Kevin Lynn has been let go at WILK. Lynn was absent from the morning show today on WILK and there was no talk about where he was once except for when weathercaster Joe Snedecker made a reference to Lynn's being off during the Easter season. Lynn himself confirmed to WNEP that he has indeed been asked to leave Entercom. John Webster who resigned yesterday from Rock 107 is expected to take a position, most likely Lynn's at WILK.
I always thought Kevin Lynn brought humor, intelligence and wit to the task of hosting a radio show. Many people have disagreed with that opinion. But Lynn made people think and exposed those who did not. And with the raging debates and misinformation regarding issues of the day today, that was very welcome. We wish him well in whatever he tackles next.

Sorry to see Kevin Lynn go. Management can be very shortsighted sometimes. Kevin always made me think, whether or not I agreed with him. He spiced up what could be a dull program with insightful comments, even when people didn't want to hear them. And he did keep things moving along. On that note, though, WILK would do well not to try to squeeze in callers thirty seconds away from a break. But I digress. Good luck Kevin, in all your future endeavors. And keep thinking and exercising your freedom of speech.

As a frequent listener to WILK at all given times of the day and night, I would like to wish all the best to Kevin Lynn. In all honesty, I did not like his arrogance, snide remarks and little quips he made about callers, when they'd be disconnected and could not defend themselves. Personally, I think he was his own worst enemy on that show and brought on his release all by himself. The listeners are everything to a talk radio show, and to repeatedly disrespect his own bread and butter callers, was just plain stupid. Obviously the man is intelligent, and knowledgeable of the issues at hand, but a big mouth will do someone in every time.

Kevin Lynn brought honesty to his comments, un like that nosebleed Nancy who is so politically correct, she is boring. This will just start the demise of this program. Good luck Kevin Lynn, what ever you decide to do next. Hopefully it will be on the radio sooner than later!

Despite your man crush; Kevin was always the weak link. He was at risk of being let go in the past, the solution was to pair him with Nancy. That worked for a while, but his ratings never held up compared to the rest of the station. He went all paranoid when Corbett joined. It was rumored that he made concessions to hold onto his job.

Also, his consistent running cover in the kids for cash story got old. also his on air suggestive comments about women and even at times Nancy Kman. This was a long time in the making. He never pulled his weight. If he did, he would not have been let go.
If you had listened regularly he was self destructing. He was short with listeners and completely closed his mind to reality. There were times he was even short with his co-hosts, often times demeaning both Joe and Nancy on the air over a difference of opinion.

It took two short weeks of Imus to make WILK react. Actually this has been in the works for some time. I first heard talk of this almost a year ago. So those who are going to think something in Kevin's personal life is the reason are way off base. The simple fact is that Kevin has always come in second place when there was another talk show option.
Fred Williams crushed him years ago and Kevin would have lost to Imus.
Kevin is not a radio talent. Radio is more than turning on the microphone and talking. The reason Rush is so huge is not his ideology, it is his background as an air talent. John Webster will bring that true radio talent to WILK and leave all competitors in the dust.

Best of luck and good fortune to Webster. Be interesting to see and hear just how he comes off and who replaces Jonesy? This is a very witty man with strong opinions who may have just made a great career move.

2 weeks with under-informed, inarticulate Joe Thomas instead of Kevin Lynn. HURRAH!

No doubt that Kevin could be harsh with callers but they still called. Kevin created controveersy and was interesting to listen to. I can't listen to the Sue Henry Republican show and I can't stand the way she uses the word "people" like she is above all others and is speaking down to us. I find her impossible to listen to and would prefer Kevin any day. I just hope Webster is not another Conservative that WILK will force on the area. I'm running out of show I can listen to while driving my rounds. I will miss Kevin and wish they would replace Sue with Kevin.

Corbett must be seething. He has been "playing" a NEPA native since his return. Now there will really be one on the air. Go John.

If this had been in the works for some time, and obviously it was, then it seems like these people at wilk really didn't like Kevin very much.
He seemed on a very self destructive bent the last 2 years or so. He was let go from the U, Solid Cactus and now this.
He is a very hateful individual and it seems that his venom is catching up with him.
and what a load of crap this morning from both joe thomas and nancy. this was a shock to everyone? it has been rumored for over a year.
i have no use for kevin, but he was hung out to dry. and his being gracious is bunk. he is to much of a chicken shit to call them out for screwing him.

I WORKED WITH KEVIN AT ANOTHER OUTLET AND PEOPLE DID LIKE HIM. SAME WITH WILK. HE JUST NEVER SUFFERED FOOLS GLADLY AND THERE ARE PLENTY IN THE BROADCAST BUSINESS.
He was let go from the U, Solid Cactus and now this.
SOLID CACTUS SINCE AND EVEN BEFORE IT WAS SOLD HAS BEEN IN A CONSTANT STATE OF TRANSITION, SOME OF IT GOOD, SOME OF IT NOT SO GOOD. I GOT LET GO AT BLUE CROSS WITH 90 OTHER PEOPLE LAST YEAR, DID THAT MEAN I WAS ON A SELF DESTRUCTIVE CURVE?
this was a shock to everyone? it has been rumored for over a year.
IT MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN IN THE WORKS, WE DON'T KNOW BUT IT WAS ORCHESTRATED VERY QUICKLY. HE CAME IN ON ONE DAY AND WAS MOST LIKELY CALLED INTO "A MEETING". THE DAY IT HAPPENED TO ME, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE RUMORS, I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING CALLED IN BECAUSE I WON THE SUERBOWL POLL. IT'S ALWAYS A SHOCK. AND WITH NANCY, THIS HAD TO BE ALMOST LIKE A PROFESSIONAL DIVORCE. KNOW YOU HAD NO USE FOR HIM BUT HE ALWAYS SPOKE WELL OF YOU!!!!

Talk Radio thrives on controversy
which is exactly what Kevin Lynn has always provided and he gets fired. Sue Henry is only controversial to a Liberal who isnt listening in the first place
and she is still on the air. Steve Corbett is working out well on several levels and living up to the
promise he showed before suddenly vanishing from WARM years ago. The station has the only local news
worth listening to even if they are reading from area newspapers and yet its working or so the ratings indicate. Its good to have at least some form of local radio.

I'm so glad the lefty is GONE. Me and 10 of my friends family and co-workers will now tune-in in the morning again.
How long does it take the big wigs to figure it out? LEFT IS A LOSS.
Kev...happy days watching MSNBC.

Corbett is such an ass****. Looks like he will be the only talk show host nonot to discuss the changes at his station. After the way everyone welcomed him with open arms. Sue allowed him to take time on her show to give you a running start and he doesn't even have the courtesy to mention the addition of one of the best known radio names in NEPA.
Is he jealous? Envious? Scared? or just doesn't play well with others?

CORBETT HAD A LONG INTERVIEW WITH WEBSTER THURSDAY AFTERNOON. IT WAS PRETTY GOOD AND FUNNY. STEVIE DOES PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS!

I agree with Kevin Lynn on virtually nothing. There were times he had me screaming at the radio. And that's exactly what a talk show host is supposed to do. I honestly think he was among the best talk hosts I heard in any market -- precisely because he was argumentative and "nasty," if you will. All time greats Bob Grant, Barry Gray and David Brudnoy were as well. Lynn also had a sense of humor, which few liberal talk hosts do (anyone remember Mario Cuomo's attempt at talk radio? Sominex at 50,000 watts) Lynn was an excellent talk show host and were I a PD, I'd be on the phone with him right now. And after I hired him, I'd go back to screaming at the radio.

The Kevin "out" / Webster "in" move had more to do with balance than personality. Both morning hosts were liberal and Webster is rumored to be a conservative. WILK listeners are primarily conservative - Rush and Fred brought them in years ago. NEPA Liberals have had NPR for decades.

Sad but true. Most talk radio listeners just want reassurance in their belief systems. Kevin really rattled the hell out of the right wingers, because he was very quick-witted and combative. Corbett simply puts dissenters on in the last 30 seconds before the break. Kevin wasn't afraid to take them on.

I didn't get to hear Kevin often - but always enjoyed the show when I did. My schedule allows for more listening to Ms. Henry and Corbett and I always find myself tuning out or falling asleep to both of those shows so they've never been "habitforming".
