MAYBE I’M AMAZED

Maybe I’m Amazed……..that people seemed surprised about the sheer confidence former Lackawanna County Commissioner Bob Cordaro is showing regarding his trial. Cordaro always has had a lot in that department plus he knows how to spin things his way. We’ll see if the jury thinks so too.
Maybe I’m Amazed…….that the Pittsburgh Pirates are above .500 at this stage of the season. Their new manager Clint Hurdle has instilled in them the old baseball mantra, “have fun and stay focused”.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that baseball is thinking about moving Houston into the American League in another realignment move. Why not move Milwaukee back to the American League and keep Houston where it is? Both were expansion teams and should have the league of their orgins. Also, a new plan calls for elimination of the divisions and the top 5 teams getting to the playoffs. For some of us old enough to remember when the top team in each league won the pennant, this would indeed be throwback baseball.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that most of the candidates for Luzerne county judge have pretty much liquidated their money from the spring campaign and have to start building up a cash reserve again.
Maybe I’m Amazed…….at the sheer number of volunteers coming on board to make “RiverFest” work. I drove under the bridge the other day in the area that used to be Nesbitt Park where I played many a softball game. It’s was a far cry from that old field as well as a far cry from the rampaging river 39 years ago that devastated the Wyoming Valley.
Maybe I’m Amazed…….that it took a porn star to finally get Anthony Weiner out of Congress. Equally amazing is the fact that the porn star was making moral judgements on Weiner with feminist barrister Gloria Alred in tow.
Maybe I’m Amazed…..that Rush Limbaugh has gone into the ice tea business. He was touting a new bottled tea, “Twoeth by Tea” or something like that as the greatest drink since clean water. One of Rush’s first sponsors was Snapple so I guess the progression of the product is natural. But the price, $23.96 for 12 bottles? Shipping is free but you can get a 24 pack at Sam’s or 2 12 packs of Snapple for less than that. Some of the money will go to a military organization, but still, that price is a little too rich for my blood.
Maybe I’m Amazed…….that even Hugh Hefner gets dumped. Hugh was going into some pretty historic territory here. He was closing in on a 58 year age gap between he and the new missus. The record though goes to the late Anna Nichol Smith and her deceased hubby J. Howard Marshall, who was 62 years her senior.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that the national media seems to be surprised by the debate showing of Congresswoman Michelle Bachman. She did well in the debate and has claimed at least for the time being the mantle of the social religious conservatives of the GOP.

Maybe I'm Amazed.........that most of the women being interviewed in this Anthony Weiner fiasco are from the south. I saw at least three interviews he had interaction with and they all appeared to be either from the deep south or southwest. Just saying.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that Kentucky Fried Chicken is now offering a half gallon drink of soda for $2.99. How much soda (and I love a nice cold Tab, Diet Coke and to a certain extent a small Coke once every few days,) can one person drink at one sitting? And here’s the kicker, KFC has agreed to donate a dollar out of every ½ gallon drink sold to the diabetes foundation so they could fight that disease as well as childhood obesity. Amazing!!!!

Just like Civerella Bobby C was his own worst witness. There was no real hard evidence, just a bunch of testimony from shady characters. But Bobby the C went up and shot his mouth off and got caught in a major gaff. To account for all of his cash, he claimed to have never cashed a paycheck. Well the persecutor showed that this wasn't necessarily the case. Now instead of just explaining that Bobby converted much of his income to cash and pay with most expenses with cash he opened his mouth and inserted foot.
There was enough out there for a good attorney to create reasonable doubt in his/her closing arguments. But Bobby the C's very own ego will be the cause of his demise.
I guess locals who go to law school skip the class about how the defense does NOT have to prove a case and that often times the defendant can be the worst witness and that when the defendant takes the stand it opens the door for prosecutors to bring up things they may not have brought up....

If Rush were truly a Patriot he would ship a few hundred boxes of his ice tea to our troops free of charge!

Say whatyou want about Hef, but you gotta admire the guy!

KFC is a heart attack in a bucket--

RE:Pope Ringo:
You seem to misunderstand MR. Limbaugh's motivations, young man.
By donating a portion of the ice tea's profits to benefit the troops he is thereby allowing each of his customers the privelige of participation.
In other words, we are speaking about community. Once again, students, we are presented with a left wing view that because someone is wealthy they should carry the water (or in this case, ice tea) for the rest of us common folk.
Class, just because someone is wealthy it is not an edict on them that they must do everything. I cannot stress this enough. Each individual is responsible for his own situation.
Charity is only productive when all participate in giving.
WE all can learn a lesson from Mr. Limbaugh, and speaking for myself, I will purchase some ice tea and go to sleep knowing that I support our troops.
Will you, students???
Something to think about this weekend.
Class Dismissed!!!!

The most patriotic act one can do is to pursue a business that produces d an honest profit. That type of pursuit will produce direct and indirect jobs and profits for others. But to a liberal those that are already wealthy have no business earning any more money.
