The LuLac Edition #1752, September 11th, 2011

PHOTO INDEX: OUR "IN FOCUS" LOGO, TWO PICTURES FROM THE CITIZEN'S VOICE, THE FIRST IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM THE LOWER LEVEL OF PLAINS WATCHING THE RIVER AND THE NEXT PHOTO IS ONE OF THE FLOODING IN WEST PITTSTON.

PEOPLE BACK IN

Most of those evacuated are now back in their homes. To those who had no damage, you'll still appreciate more than ever the comforts of home. To those tasked to rebuild, it is painful now but you will make it through this trying time. Good luck to all.

THE MEDIA

Kudos to the TV stations of WBRE, WNEP, and WYLN TV 35 for covering this event. WBRE had the most coverage but essentially had no choice in the matter since 'BRE was evacuated. To the newspapers, as always spot on. And to the radio stations, WILK,(with non stop coverage) WVIA FM and WARM Radio (with flood updates) you showed the immediacy of radio. And I think I might have mentioned this the other day in "Maybe I'm Amazed" but it was wonderful to see the local TV and radio folk tapping into the great knowledge of David DeCosmo who really added a good perspective to the events.

HOUSEKEEPING

My e mail was hacked into this past week. Most likely the result of playing too much with my new I Phone. We've corrected the situation and I apologize if anyone on my e mail list got some spam junk. Just ignore it.

VIDEO

Blythe Evans from Plymouth took this video of the flooding in Plymouth. Evans is running for the County Council and has been concentrating on helping his neighbors in his hometown. Here's his video.

Your friend seemed to make a great point several years ago. Imagine, if possible, how much worse this could have been. And in the beginning of the video he hits a key point for those of us here in Bloom, no levy.

...ah, hacked! That explains why you're trying to sell me Viagra! I smelled a rat. But if it was chicken wings, I might have fallen for it...

I tried to post a comment on Jim Brozena being inept at his job but I guess there is no room for constructive criticism on this blog. He is the guy who wanted crushed stone on the top of the dykes because he thought it would look nice. Forget about the use the dykes get from walkers, joggers, bikers and skaters, it would look nice with crushed stone. Who was the bright light that decided to raise the new dykes a foot about Agnes? Did it dawn on anyone that the river crest in 72 was lower than reality because it broke into Wilkes Barre and Forty Fort? If the dykes were higher in 72 and held, who knows what the crest would have been. I just don't see Brozena as a long term planner, he is just too short sighted. You can stifle this post too Yonk and doing so will insure that things will never change because we continue to allow the same people to be in charge.
