PHOTO INDEX: FORMER VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY AND SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY CLINTON.

CHENEY LIKES HILLARY

Former Vice President Dick Cheney made an interesting revelation on Fox News Sunday. Cheney revealed that he thought Hillary Clinton would have made a better President than Barack Obama. Cheney told Chris Wallace that she was competent in her job as Secretary of State and that while he disagreed with her policies he thought she was more qualified and principled. You’re not the only one Mr. Vice President, you’re not the only one thinking that thought.

CANDIDATE SAYS INVESTIGATE

Luzerne County Council candidate Kathy Dobash says the conduct of UGI during the recent Irene storm needs to be looked at very closely. I understand that the utility company was maybe taken aback for a few days but it is apparent these people had no plan and were still in their mid 70s mindset living fat and happy off the profits they made by charging customers for excellent power in good weather and no power when a true emergency reared its head. Anyway, here’s Dobash’s letter:
Editor:
It is obvious UGI Electric failed to recognize the severity of the damage caused by Hurricane Irene.UGI let the public down in the slow response to provide the service to those in need. Federal and State legislators should have hearings along with the PA Public Utility Commission to investigate. UGI was negligent in providing electrical service and getting outside utility companies to come and assist with restoration of power in Northeastern PA and our own Luzerne County. Fairmont, Hemlock, Lake, Lehman, Union, Ross, Huntington, Hunlock, Dallas, Kingston, Jackson Townships and Dallas Borough were without service for an extended length of time. I request PA State officials to enact legislation and call for hearings which demand an explanation about their slow response to Luzerne County customers. A plan of corrective action is required so thousands of customers will not be left without electrical service a full week after the storm. Sincerely,
Kathleen M. Dobash
Luzerne County Council Candidate
Hazleton, PA

RE: Hillary Better Prez

Monday morning quarterbacking to put it best.
No one truly knows because it never happened.
Just as no one knows if JFK would have withdrawn from Vietnam because he was not around to make the decision.
Seems to me that the GOP decided on a scorched Earth policy where Obama is concerned....just say NO to everything.
This was a gamble, big time...for if the economy had recovered we would have been looking at potentially massive losses for the GOP in '12.
Sadly, the gamble paid off.
My question to the Obama naysayers: Would they have said YES to anything Pres. Hillary Clinton proposed??
We all know how much they loved both she and Bill.
By the way, JFK rarely got anything out of his own Democratic congress. Is it possible assassination saved him from being just like Obama???
Again, Monday morning quarterbacking will get u nowhere.
Pointless as debating the weather.

Kathy Dobash makes a good point but I just don't agree that a candidate should use a natural disaster to push her candidacy for public office. I would have more repsect for her position if she didn't attach "Candidate for County Council" to her letter.

Students, four years ago I lectured on the contest between Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton. You can check these lectures out as they are preserved primarily in the commentary section of the Gort 42 website.
I tell you this because it is good to be nostalgic and sometimes even educational.
I warned back then that Mrs. Clinton was the more qualified candidate over Mr. Obama.
Many of the points I stated in those various lectures proved to become fact.
Of course, I was berated by those who supported Mr. Obama; called names that I will not repeat here today, they are so vulgar.
But now, as the great Mr. Cheney has vindicated my opine, I can tell you that when youngsters grab and snatch, they do not care of the consequences.
To be honest, as much as I defended Mrs. Clinton during that contest, I had no intent to vote for her. I, however noted that I would be far more comfortable with her in the oval office as opposed to the then junior senator from Illinois who had no experience.
Sadly, students, sometimes lessons go unlearned (as many of you can attest) and those unlearned lessons come with consequences....the very consequences we are enduring today.
I hate to close a lecture on a note like this, but I TOLD YOU SO.
CLASS DISMISSED!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the "Hill" would have been a good president. Dems blew it there! Could she challenge? Never happen the Democratic Party would splinter totally!
As is I believe she has done a good job as Sec of State. Next she might just go hang out with Bill.

Morelli and Dobash are not fooling anybody with their acting to dislike each other. Remember where they are from. They are playing like they hate each other now but watch and they will join forces in november just to get elected. I have to ask why vote for hazleton? hazleton people care nothing for the residents of the west side or wilkes barre. I do not trust either Morelli or Dobash. They will be bad for the county.

ITS COMMENTS LIKE THIS THAT MAKE PEOPLE FROM HAZLETON SAY THAT THERE IS A BIAS AGAINST THEIR AREA FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTY. JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT.

Mr. Wallace, What I don't like about Obama is that he has caved in to every issue the Republicans brought to the table. He just did it again when he turned his back on the environment this week. I was a big fan of Obama and I ddi believe in the hope he preached but it's gone. I watched fomer governor Buddy Roemer on the Rachell Madow show last eveninng and he is realy impressive. He could get my vote and in fact, he could get me to change registration just to vote for him. I'm just not sure that he is for real except that he has a track record. Whatch for his name to become more prominent when the crazy Tea Party ends their games and real candidates step up and out for the Republican Paarty. Buddy Roemer, you heard it here first.
