LULAC POLL RESULTS
Here are the poll results we took for the General Election in 2011. As we indicated yesterday, the poll was among LuLac readers, it had 178 respondents, to our knowledge they only voted once and is presented as an unscientific sampling of the pulse of LuLac readers who follow politics as well as this blog site.
The poll question was: If the election were held today, who would you vote for?
WILKES BARRE MAYOR’S RACE
COPE 36%
LEIGHTON 45%
SUMMERS 19%.
This result seems to buttress Cope’s campaign manager Frank Sorick’s thoughts that Cope can build on a 35% base.
LUZERNE COUNTY DA
SALAVANTIS 48%.
MUSTO CARROLL 52%.
Obviously this race has become competitive because of the big GOP war chest on behalf of Salavantis.

HUGHES 50%
HANLON MIRABITO 50%.
Dead even in the poll but there is a huge Democratic registration that can help Hanlon Mirabito.
WILKES BARRE AREA SCHOOL BOARD
GRINAWAY 54%
ELMY 46%.
Grinaway has been pounding the pavement and working the neighborhoods. Elmy might have trouble with his relationships with past school board members who were tainted by the County Corruption scandal.

PATRICK O’MALLEY 53%
BILL JONES 52%
COREY O’BRIEN 50%
JIM WANSACZ 32%
People taking the survey were asked to pick 2. In this poll it appears that voters skipped picking a second and bullet voted for one of the top three candidates.

Poor Jimmy Wansacz. He had a perfectly secure job as a state rep and his ego got in the way. Now he cant even get elected county commissioner. Poor Wansacz.
Summers has jumped 10 points since the debate. Lisa, PLEASE do what is right, kick Frank to the curb and support Betsy.
I think Salavantis is going to pull this one off. I guess that is why I am voting for her. No not really the reason, main reasons... she will do the job, she has no political ties, big deal her parents are paying for her campaign...that tells me they are a family unit that sticks together to get the job done and beleives in one another that is encouragment if I eve saw it. She is not a person who is unapproachable. Good Luck Stefanie Salavantis!!!
Thank you for doing the poll but also for being upfront about how you conducted the poll. It is merely a snapshot of what your readers are thinking. But it can be a good barometer for what will happen a week from today.
I'm surprised that Corey Obrien did as well as she did. I think that if more people from Lackawanna County responded he wouldnt have done as well.
Salavantis has no political ties? What color is the sky in your world?
Betsy Summers has made sure Tom Leighton will be elected to a third term. So Betsy can get the blame for the City staying the same corrupted.

Elm does have ties to the past and that can;t change but he also has a pocket full of jobs at the Tech school and that won't change because he has another job he is trying to get for family.
As for Salavantis doing the job, how can she? Poor girl doesn't have a clue and her only business experience is cooking hot dogs and I don't think she actually did. I never saw her working in the restaurant. Voting for Salavantis in a vote for poor government and a step backward.
Salavantis is nothing but full of lies. She was on Corbett yesterday sounded she was reading off index cards. Her ego will be crushed on election day. Her election push is a one trick pony...and that trick is poor.
Students, it is clear that Miss Salavantis is ruffling a few of the elitist's feathers. I find this joyful.
Oh, how the elitists will tell you that she has no experience in criminal court and that her father is financing her campaign.
This kind of reminds me of another figure who was accused of many of the same things.
He had no experience in criminal court for the job he was persuing. His father financed family campaigns to the hilt. WHat has his name?
STudents, that would be none other than Robert F. Kennedy, whom you liberals consider to be the greatest Attorney General in U>S history.

Salavangis's very short legal career may be over if she loses. Her campaign of distortion is not very popular with most people.

Honestly professor. Robert Kennedy a great AG. What ****ing drugs have you been taking. He violated many constitutional statutes. He allowed J. Edgar to push him around and many times was at many times way over his head and the only reason didn't destroy the justice department was the institutional memory that was already in place.
The county courthouse doesn't have that kind of institutional memory. There is the potential for 2 ADAs to ascend the bench and many who are appalled by her campaign may leave after the election.
It isn't simply her lack of legal experience; it is also her lack of administrative experience.
It isn't her youth that is a problem. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and others had reached millionaire status at younger ages. It is the fact that she hasn't grown up. If you heard her on the radio, she babbles at times, she is almost child like in her responses. She also lacks experience in life. She has earned NOTHING on her own. All as been bought and paid for by her father. The Kennedy's had the father's money, but they also had to earn much of what they had. Joseph and John Kennedy were military heroes. What the **** has Stephanie done????
But she has great legs and that is my major criteria so I will vote for her anyway. I will also vote for every nut case running for county council. I would relish watching luzerne county further implode. Fortunately I don't plan to be a resident much longer.
I hate the Kennedys. I hate the fact that Yonki, who is a sensible man worships at the collective shrines of JFK, RFK and EMK. It is a character flaw I overlook in him. I attribute it to his hormones and 7th grade slovak school girlfriend in the 60s. BUT the previous writer is correct. The Kennedys and even Nixon were elected at a young age, JFK 26, Nixon 30 but they experienced life before then. They accomplished something. This poor Salavantis woman has not. Don't get me to quoting Lloyd Bensten here because Yonk will get all hot bothered but, "I knew of JFK and RFK, Steffie is no JFK or RFK."
I hope Summers wins this race. I hear a lot of Democrats are going here way, Cope don't have a clue!
If Salavantis goes after the criminals the way she has gone after Jackie Carroll, county criminals should be very scared. This young woman is aggressive & relentless. In a county with crime that's OUT OF CONTROL, we could use that (vs the current DA who can't even handle a case against UNrepresented Hugo Sielinski without an ADA holding her hand/doing it with (aka for) her). Salavantis may not have tons of experience, but if she runs the DA's office and goes after criminals like she campaigns, she has "prosecutor" in her blood big time.
Salavantis is a pit bull. Just watch how she has campaigned! She's a viper! That's EXACTLY what this county needs with our crime rates! A DA who won't tolerate injustice and isn't afraid of a thing. This young woman stood up to the powerful Musto name. She's gutsy. We need a pit bull. Not a DA who is too chicken to be accountable and blames her ADA's for HER failure to do her job.
I would say that is a very good analogy because what immediately comes to mind is the fact that alot of drug dealers and criminals own pit bulls for the soul purpose of protecting them from being caught by the authorities. Stefanie does not have a clue of what the job is and the poor pit bulls being trained by their criminal owners don't either but they fight to kill. Too bad it's the innocent that die in those situations.
