The LuLc Edition #2615, March 11th, 2014

Our “Maybe I’m Amazed” logo.

MAYBE I'M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…that a ball of glass bounces higher than a ball of rubber.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that Rob McCord is getting all the local educators all hot and bothered with his act. He got the endorsement of the teachers and will of course tow the party line for the unions. But the question needs to be asked, is throwing more money at teachers the answer to better students? Just once I'd love to hear someone say that some kids are dumb because their parents don't give a shit.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that it was revealed that NEPA was number two in consumption of those KFC bowls that have everything from soup to nuts in them. By the way, they are, in  my opinion horrible. I took a spoonful from a co worker. Whew.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that Chris Christie called out Senator Harry Reid for picking on the Koch Brothers and other great American entrepreneurs that create jobs. Okay, if the GOP says that these job creators have done so much....why do they say the economy is so bad? Can't have it both ways guys.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that this situation in the Ukraine is really dicey.
First off, Russia annexed this land during the, wait for it, the Jefferson administration.
Second, the U.S. Should leave this alone. It is not as if this country has never ever

invaded another country to have our version of morality passed on to a foreign land.
Third, there was a truce a few weeks ago until the rebels started attacking the soldiers. And guess what, THEY SHOT BACK!!!! There needs to be constant communication to contain

this. Sanctions, yes. Troops, no. And that's all there should be.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that Panama is the only place in the world where you can see the sun rise on the Pacific and set on the Atlantic.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that this kid from the Abington Heights District that called in the bomb threat because he didn't do his homework was arrested. I think the entire school district should be arrested for not teaching logic and common sense. Jesus, there is no middle ground, you got kids not caring and others going off the deep end for not doing their homework.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that I think the most annoying, stupid and fingernails on the board sounding commercial I cannot tolerate is that Hopper commercial where an ignorant and obnoxious New England family keep screaming the word Hopper over and over. I
will never ever buy the Dish, ever consider buying the Dish or recommend anyone buying The Dish and their stupid Hawpur!!!!!
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that in the 30s there was Shirley Temple. Articulate, eager to learn, charming and aspiring to something. Today we have Honey Boo Boo, ignorant, proud of it and no aspirations of anything significant whatsoever.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……..that I think I might be in the wrong business. Luzerne County is doling out money in “consultant” fees to find out what is pretty obvious. The Luzerne County Transportation Authority wants to hire a "consultant" from California to do a study on riders and passenger trends. Really? They allegedly fudged the figures and now they want a “cosultabnt” to tell them who rides the bus? Then the latest is to hire a “consultant” to see if the Manager salaries are in range with private business. Now this one really is something. I’ll bet that when the “consultant” comes up with his or her study, it will mean more money for managers who are already being paid above the average wage scale of the taxpayers who fund their salaries.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that it is illegal in the United Kingdom to handle salmon in suspicious circumstances. Don’t you wish the Catholic Church had the rule for handling children the same way.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that this Malaysia Airline story is going to stoke the conspiracy crazies. It is bad enough that people in all night talk radio are talking about how Jesus looked comforting, how the sun will blow up in 2017 on JFK’s 100th birthday and on and on. For whatever reason my wife falls asleep to this crap. And if you like Golden Oldie Radio, you’ll love Golden Oldie Talk Radio. WILK runs Art Bell on the weekends and you can hear vintage shows from 1998 with honest to God vintage wackos. And no, none of their predictions have come true from back then.

You were upset a while back about some restaurant tacking on a HealthCare surcharge.

Travelers passing through the Oakland Airport may be in for a surprise when they get their meal or drink receipts - a surcharge for employees' health benefits. The Oakland Airport authority decided to allow an additional surcharge to be added to patrons' bills - not unlike the Obamacare surcharge restaurants in Florida and L.A. are charging.

Oakland Airport Sign

"A 2% Airport Health Benefits Surcharge will apply to all pre-tax food and beverage purchases," a sign says on one eatery. The receipt in the photo shows a charge for "2% Health SC."

The customer will end up paying it anyway so may as well be transparent about it.

Okay, if the GOP says that these job creators have done so much....why do they say the economy is so bad?

Because they know they can do more but are being hampered by the comunity-organizer-in-chief.

I'll say it: "some kids are dumb because their parents don't give a shit."

After conception it's 20 some years of HARD WORK. There are GOOD TIMES too but only AFTER the hard work (consistently completed)has been established. PLUS there are no guarantees, just improved odds.

I have seen too many young, single parents who think they know it all or just refuse to ask for help then become so overwhelmed at the problems they create that they throw in the towel and play passive resistant, never admitting that maybe there kid really is a "w.p.o.s.".

BTW: How many of us were warned or forbidden to play with these kids when we were growing up?

I'm sure the Professor has seen his share of the problem in his classroom.

Good morning students,
Once again, Mr. Yonki has hit the proverbial nail on the head with his paper on funding education. Clearly, youngsters are more a product of their parental upbringing rather than a teacher’s influence. Although I do not decry the importance of a teacher (as I am one) believing that mommy and daddy’s only responsibility is to provide “junior” with the latest computer gadgets and gansta rap clothing is abhorrent to every instinct in my body.
Of course, this is the product of the liberal environment seeded by LBJ nearly two generations ago. As a comedian once put it ‘how’s that workin’ out for ya??’---you may laugh.
The work of this classroom goes forward…….
Students, when a governmental body gets out of control with its treasury, a cancer of complacency begins to spread. The entitlement personality has been created by the liberal factions. “Gimme, gimme gimme!!”
Equally, the endless hungry stomach of big government begins to rear its ugly head by intruding on our everyday lives. Regulating the size of a soft drink is not the responsibility of government. Banning colas from school cafeterias along with such deplorable meals as hot dogs and hamburgers in the name of children’s health while endorsing the use of marijuana does not make sense to me. Students, read my previous sentence once more. I’ll put it in language that even you ingrates can understand:

ACCORDING TO THE GOVERNMENT, SOFT DRINKS AND HOT DOGS BAD FOR YOU, BUT MARIJUANA NOT. HAVE WE GONE INSANE??? GIVE ME YOUR ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!

As for Obamacare, as I have often said, healthcare is best left to the private sector. In the end, we all knew policies would be cancelled (when we were promised they would not be) and confusion would erupt. I have read with great care the entire ACA. It is at times idealistic, and like most idealistic ventures, unattainable. I concluded months ago that this monstrosity would kill itself and I am being proven right. Sadly, however, at the expense of millions of tax dollars.

We can only hope when President Walker takes office in three years that we can fix all the damage that has been done. I am an optimist, I know we can by restoring a government that inspires, not regulates; cuts taxes not balloons them; and is on to our enemies not coddling them. I believe it will be done but the wait is long.

Something to think about this morning…..
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously the only troubled individual in the Sandusky household was not Jerry. Mrs Sandusky was an enabler who must have had some idea what was going on when her husband played cuddly bear alone in the basement with young boys regularly.
Now she is out on the lunatic fringe with incredible statements like the abused kids testified for the money!
Lady get a grip. Nobody believes Jerry was innocent except perhaps you and your husband and you both know better.
Please let this disgusting episode
end and get some help for yourself and the rest of the family. Your husband was one of the most revolting human beings Pennsylvania or the US ever produced. He corrupted minors for years and in the end brought a good man whos real crime was staying around too long down. He is a black mark on Penn State, the game of football and humanity!
Accept the truth and please shut up, please.

Wow Dave,
You hit the nail on the head with your comment on money and teachers. The amount of time teachers have with a student is so minute in comparisson to what time parents have with their children in teaching them some moral values that they will need to prosper in this world of ours.
The old saying. "Education begins at home". So true.

"There he goes again..." to quote Ronald Reagan. Prof you burned this out with President Romney or don't you remember?
He is both insulting and annoying, but certainly not entertaining.

"He is both insulting and annoying"

I guess I missed the "insults". All I saw were opinions.

Annoying? Why, something you recognize in what he says but just can't admit?

"My boyfriends back and youre gonna be sorry"
The Professors is back and he hasnt missed a step. He is as out of touch and superior and indignant as ever.
The world has changed, not for the best in all cases I agree, but some remember it as better than it was and he qualifies. The poor old guy probably predicted President Dewey.
