The LuLac Edition #2692, July 8th, 2014

Our “Maybe I’m Amazed” logo.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that Geisinger Health Care system is blaming Obama care for the fact that it will not be hiring new people. The reason? Their projections say that it will cut into their profitability by 52 million dollars. Doesn’t say anything about losses, just the fact that they won’t be profiting by 52 million dollars. So if they are not making that extra 52 million, exactly how much are they making? Bet the fat cats are worried about their bonuses.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED………that on ABC TV, former Texas Governor Rick Perry said he handed President Obama a letter on the tarmac at an airport in Texas and never got a response to it regarding his concerns on immigration. If he is telling the truth, let me ask this, how can a member of a sitting President’s staff let that one slide? No response? Even an "FU, I don’t agree with you" note might have sufficed. This President needs a better staff because he just seems tone deaf on the little interfacing of politics and persuasion.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED………at how great Frankie Valli did in his segment on “A Capitol Fourth” on PBS on the Fourth of July. I could do without “Grease” but ending with “Let’s Hang On”, especially with the shape the country is in was just wonderful. I loved it even though Mrs. LuLac has never been impressed with his act. But I always will be a Valli fan having interviewed him three times and seeing him (along with Mrs. LuLac God love her) 5 times. Saw him once before but not as a fan but backstage at King’s in the mid 70s.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……at the stupidity I hear sometimes on the radio. Some guy was yammering about voter ID and how we are trying to dumb everything down to the lowest common denominator. Maybe for him you might have to. Jesus, Voter ID is not about dumbing down voting, making it easier for people to read and go through the process. It is about mobility, age and access. Then this morning, some cat from Exeter calls and berates a talk show host for voting for Obama twice. Again, he can’t back up why he thinks things are bad, just complained that people voted for the President twice. Many of my friends have stopped listening to Talk Radio because it can just get so frustrating.. I love it because it gives the dummies time to show their ignorance. The only problem with that is that there are twenty other dumb asses out there saying, “Yeah he’s right!’
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that with the impending retirement of Joe Torre’s number 6 and Derek Jeter’s retirement from baseball, all of the Yankee numbers 1 through 10 will be retired. Currently Billy Martin’s 1, Babe Ruth’s 3, Lou Gehrig’s 4, Joe DiMaggio’s 5, Mickey Mantle’s 7, Yogi Berra and Bill Dickey’s 8, Roger Maris’ 9 and Phil Rizzuto’s number 10 are all safely ensconced in the new Yankee Stadium. Jeter's and perhaps Bobby Murcer's number 2 are next up.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that we seem to have no will to do anything about guns in this country. We aren’t asking to take guns away, all we’re asking are to put a break on the serious weapons of destruction that can kill many at one time. What happened to any new proposal? Everyone is afraid to even bring it up. What is hysterical to me is the right wing gun nuts who are convinced, convinced that this President will take their guns away. Yet in another breath they’ll tell you how the government can’t do anything right. You can’t have it both ways guy. Our government can’t save IRS E Mails and we’re going to track your guns? And by the way, the guns will be registered to your police departments. Now all of a sudden law and order conservatives don’t trust the cops?
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that some restaurants will put something on the menu. Then when a consumer asks for it, they tell you “We don’t make that anymore”. Is it really too much trouble to just scratch it out with a marker if you can’t afford to print new menus? And how about those eateries that have big signs posted on the outside like Polenta every week and then when you get there......nope.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED...that people are amazed that there are homeless people living in Kirby Park. Really? The unintended consequences of state wide funding cuts for social services is just this situation. There is no VISION anymore to speak of and no place for these people to go for services. This should not come as a shock. It's what happens when we ignore the least of our brethren. Paul Kanjorski used to say that when you cut taxes on the federal and state level, local services suffer. This is a case in point.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED....that those two cats from Hazleton decided to disobey the police department at the Fourth of July Pops event at Kirby Park. According to the Times Leader's Ed Lewis Tabe-Sarah B. Yisrael, removed portable fencing and entered an area that was closed to only those involved in detonating fireworks at about 9:40 p.m. She was carrying an infant and refused to leave the area when instructed to do so by an officer, according to charges filed. So when the officer was speaking with Tabe-Sarah Yisrael, police allege Agur Yisrael, 35, punched the officer in the face. Both were detained. One is left with only these two questions. Were they dumb or drunk? And please let’s not disparage the Wilkes Barre Police Department not not knowing how to deal with foreigners. They’ve dealt with people from Hazleton before and did just fine thank you.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED...that this story with these two parents from Georgia is just getting stranger and stranger. Now we find that the guy who left the kid in the car was sexting with 6, count them 6 different women. Then the wife says the child is in a better place because he won't face the woes of middle school. Are you serous? I'm not a parent but I know this, these two will turn on each other before this is over. Look for Dick Wolf to turn this one into a Law and Order episode next year.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED...that another church was closed by the Diocese of Scranton. Holy Savior Church in Wilkes Barre was shut down a few weeks ago. Strange because that church was bigger than the remaining one, the old St. Stan's. It is a miracle the Bishop's Appeal made their goal.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED......that the annoying Progressive Insurance spokesperson in white Flo is everywhere. Even in turnpike booths.
She is fast becoming the Mr. Whipple of this century.

No we don’t have a gun problem in this country! That’s why 60 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend. We cant fix a problem until we admit it exists. The NRA lobby and the corrupt politicians in their pocket are the issue not the constitution. How long would it take for 60 people to get shot in Tokyo or London? The immigration issue is tough to solve. The gun issue is easy, but look at what happened when the president tried! Still we gave up too soon and too easy. I don’t want to stop hunters from hunting or target shooters from enjoying their sport, but we need to get this thing under control. When the bad guys can outgun the good guys there is trouble! I don’t advocate taking guns away from responsible gun owners. I do strongly call for strict gun control and I don’t see the need for any individual to own an assault rifle. I do not own a gun, but I have professional training in their handling and care and I know from experience how accidents can happen under the most cautious circumstances. Simply put Guns are dangerous and out of control in this country! Its time we did something about it.

I'm amazed that commuters who earn a living in Scranton are so indignant when a commuter tax is even mentioned! Lets get real. The city is in big trouble and the home owners cant stand any more taxes! There would be no suburbs if there were no City. I live in a suburb and would be almost happy to pay a tax so its not as if I dont have a horse in this race.

WHEN YOU GO TO A PUBLIC EVENT AND IT IS COVERED BY THE MEDIA YOU GIVE UP EVERY EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY. BY FILING THE SUIT HE'S ONLY CALLING MORE ATTENTION TO HIS SNOOZING. I JUST HEARD ABOUT IT WHEN IT HIT THE PAPERS. PEOPLE ARE TOO BUSY WITH THEIR LIVES TO CARE ABOUT A GUY AT A GAME.

Like he said 6:10, We dont have a gun problem! By the way genius DAMN is spelled Damn in your usage unless you mean those guns were behind a large structure made to contain water. You should be shot by the spelling mob who should of course be armed to the teeth. Just to be safe here its called sarcasm.

Four innocent kids dead in Texas! No need for gun control. Obviously the guns are in the hands of people who know how to use them.133

I'm a gun owner and I hve a license tocarry and I hve no problem with background checks. Regardless of what laws are pssed, there is nothing going to stop those idiots from shooting each other over their nonsence. The ;police cn't do anything bout it because there isn't a soul in those areas that are willing to help in anyway. Guns are here to stay and if it makes you feel any more secure, do as I do and carry a gun or simply stay home. But where re you safe? We hve home break-in's, people shot at movies, McDonald's, school and even church so when is it safe to leave your house when your house isn't even safe?

As for the sp;elling corrections, you should carry a gun because you piss me off and I'm sure others as well. What I don't get is the feeling of need some folks have to correct others. If a word is mispelled and you actually understand the thought being put forth then the author accomplished his goal. He made a statment that you understood so get a life and find something worth your time to complain about. By the way, I didn't use s pell check on this so if I made an error or two....... I DON'T CARE!

Glad youve got a license to carry,
and are a happy gun owner and carrying makes you feel secure
but I dont care to carry a gun and people like you make me nervous out there. I have extensive weapons knowledge from military experience something you most likely missed out on and I've had the opportunity to use that knowledge more than once. I dont understand your sentence about "the police and those areas" and I never use spell check and didnt see a word in your comment that would require spell check with an 8th grade education. Have a nice secure day and I hope you dont get a chance to use your gun ever.
