2014 VETERAN’S PARADE IN WILKES BARRE

THE 68th ANNUAL VETERAN'S DAY PARADE will take place on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 9th 2014, stepping off at 2 pm. The Parade is a great event and a perfect way to salute the Veterans of all wars who served as well as introduce future generations to the importance of the U.S. Military.
Things like this don’t evaporate out of thin air though. Here is a photo of the people working on this. Hope to see you there.

BEST LOCAL AUTHOR NOTED
Tiffany Cloud Olsen and your blog editor prepping for last year’s Election analysis on WYLN TV.
Happenings Magazine announced the names of local businesses that won the first-ever “Happie Awards.” Tiffany Cloud Olson of Conyngham, earned the “Happie Award” for receiving the most votes in the category Favorite Local Author.
Thousands of votes were cast since the contest began in June. Happenings Magazine asked readers to go to www.HappeningsPA.com and vote for businesses that made them most “Happie.” Winners from across a 10-county coverage area of Northeast PA were chosen in over 100 categories.
“This is not another ‘Best of…’ contest. These businesses were able to rally customers to vote because they excel at creating and keeping ‘Happie’ customers, which is an exceptional skill in today’s business world,” said Happenings president Paula Mackarey.
“I’m so touched people in northeastern PA opted to vote for me for Favorite Local Author. I think the last time I was voted for and won something may have been student council in the 1980’s. Needless to say, being voted as Favorite Local Author given the topic of my book—a memoir about my experience as a military wife when my husband was deployed to the war zone—is particularly moving. I wish more people would strive to understand what military families go through in our country and I appreciate that my story resonated with voters, “said Tiffany Cloud Olson
The Happie Award winners will be showcased in the December issue of Happenings Magazine and will be invited to receive their awards at a “Happie Meal & Awards Presentation,” held on November 25 at The Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in Scranton. Besides being honored in Happenings digital and hard-copy issues, winners are being featured on the Happenings website (www.HappeningsPA.com).
