Former Wilkes Barre Police Chief Tony George is up on TV running ads for his candidacy. Here’s his spot that has been running.
Tom Lukasewicz who is running for Lackawanna County Commissioner is also on the air with this spot. . He is really building steam because of the current incumbents and most state reps are being mum on the Keystone Landfill expansion and the Jessup gas powered plant.
Thank God I don’t live in District B of Wilkes Barre. The incumbent Lou Elmy basically has been self serving his entire political career making sure his family always had a good positions to land in on the public dime. From Wilkes Barre Truth:
He works for the Luzerne County Prison.
Brother: James Elmy also works at the Luzon County Prison.
Sister: Deizarae Height works at Wilkes- Barre Area Voc Tech as a secretary.
This sister is married to Jim Height: He was charged for accepting $2,000 in cash for support he provided to a contractor regarding the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.
Another sister: Renee Post is married to James Post who is the Purchasing agent for Wilkes-Barre city schools.
Brother: Kevin Elmy is the head of maintenance at Wilkes- Barre Area Voc Tech.
Kevin Elmy’s wife: She works at the courthouse.
Niece: Samantha J Elmy hired as a school teacher.
Wow! Anyway Lou held a fundraiser breakfast at St. Anthony’s Maronite Church today. I hope his relative showed up at least.
Meanwhile his opponent Tony Brooks is having an event Wednesday, May 13, from 6 to 8pm at The Frederick Stegmaier Mansion, 304 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre.
According to the paper, the event is free, with complimentary food and refreshments but donations are appreciated. Pony up people. Give the guy something. All are welcome, including candidates regardless of party and office. Maybe Elmy’s relatives will show up.
I saw something on the “Just Saying” page where Brooks called for a re-establishment of a Shade Tree and Parks Commission as a quality of life for Wilkes Barre. Really????
Shade Tree Commissions are just a way to allow self righteous people to decide which trees should be planted and which should be cut down. Trees are planted that have no business being on city curbs. It gives the city the power to control your yard. With all the crime going on in Wilkes Barre, is this the best this guy can come up with? Job one is to get the thugs out of the city of Wilkes Barre, that’s a quality of life issue not inspecting lawns to see if the trees match up.
I can just see it, Brooks wins, gets his way with the Shade Tree Commission and Elmy gets the contract to inspect the lawns and curb sides in Wilkes Barre. Meanwhile at Sherman Hills…………….

The Elmy clan has actually outdone the old Barbara Youngblood family jobs program.
You gave Brooks a good shot for wanting to beautify the city and I don't think you get the real purpose of a Shade Tree Comission. After reading the article, it left me wonding who I should vote for since both seem to be short on ideas. I guess voting for Elmy isn't such a good idea because it just goes to prove voters don't care about the family job tree and they should.

IN RESPONSE
I'm all for keeping up properties but first we need to get rid of the rats flopping with the consent of landlords who don't give a crap.
It wasn't a shot, it was an observation. But good points.
