KANE OUT

Well the magical political run of Scranton native Kathleen Kane ended today when the embattled Attorney General said she would not run for re-election. She told a news conference that she loved public service but lived her sons even more. Kane said that although there were strides made in her office, she wanted to spend time with her family.
The Democrats running against her seem to breath a sigh of relief. Three candidates are vying for the seat. Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr., Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro and Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli are going after the seat. Morganelli is a former AG nominee who lost to Tom Corbett.
Montgomery County prosecutors charged Ms. Kane with perjury, obstruction of justice last August in a case of alleged political retaliation.

JOE PETERS IN

Attorney Joe Peters has entered the race for Attorney General. When peters’ old boss was saying “see ya” Peters was saying to Pennsylvania voters, “How do you do!!!??” Peters, a former federal and state prosecutor and deputy director in former President George W. Bush's Office of National Drug Control Policy, has said he is the best choice to restore faith and confidence to the state's top law enforcement position. Peters has been running a social media campaign to generate support and apparently has enough started a signature drive to get on the ballot. He will be opposed by State Senator John Rafferty. Here’s his website: http://www.joepeters.com/index.html

TRUMP AND KASICH ENTER PENNSYLVANIA

Donald Trump and John Kasich have filed for the delegate Rich Pennsylvania primary. This gives you an indication that both Trump and the Ohio Governor are playing long ball. It is significant that both these candidates feel Pennsylvania will be relevant.

Take a look at all the seats for State Representative in the Lu. No primary opposition. Free rides for every one. Very few of them will have significant opposition in the fall. "Ob  la di, ob la da, life goes on......."

The misogynistic movement against Kane is one of the most deplorable events in state political history.
Led by Gene Stilp and cheered on by Steve Corbett the results of an election were under attack in the most vile and sexist fashion.
I'm not sure if Kane is guilty or not, however, the attempt to remove her from office, including the suspension of her law license before any guilt has been determined is offensive to the voters of the commonwealth.
If she is found not guilty, and she decides to run for office my support and check book will be open to her efforts.
To this day, I can't believe that our first female AG was attacked with such venom by someone who claims to support our political efforts.
The actions by our local talk show host reminds me off how men acted when I have spurned their advances. It makes one wonders why he hates AG Kane.

IN RESPONSE

Corbett gives opinions. Kane's actions, even before her election merited criticism.
Stilp is a grand stander who certainly stoked the fires.
Met him, moderated a debate when he ran against Barletta a few years back, no real opinion.
Both reacted to her actions.

Reacted? I think over reacted would be a more apt description.
Two very deluded men, who abused a platform to bully, attack and subjugate a woman who would not bow down before them.

Agree about Stilp, he is a grandstander, but it was his filings that directly led to Kane losing her license.
As far as the comment on Corbett, the character he plays on the radio takes even the most miniscule, unintentional disagreement or slight with him as a reason for a full assault against another. He was attacking Kane from the day she announced her intent to seek office.

Whether Corbett is the same way in real life, I don't know, since I don't know him. However, the character he plays on the radio is the worst of humanity, a feckless thug and bully, with a mind so closed and view point so narrow that even the slightest, slight, is enough to make another person public enemy number 1.
