WHY RESISTERS ARE MIDDLE AGED WOMEN
(Photo: Fox Business)
So today I heard a local talk show host say that middle aged women were the main group resisting the Presidency of Donald Trump. She wondered why. Well for starts:
His early executive order that globally curbed access to cancer screenings and maybe even undermine vaccination campaigns and efforts against H.I.V. and the Zika virus. The upshot: Thousands of impoverished, vulnerable women will die.
Then there is the way Trump spoke of women not only in the campaign but throughout his entire career. If you are an overweight guy with a funny hairdo, it might not be a good thing to call Rosie O’Donnell a fat pig.
Plus there’s that defamation suit that is being launched by one of “The Apprentice” contestants, Summer Zerbos. CBS LA reports that Summer Zervos announced the lawsuit at a Los Angeles news conference with her attorney, Gloria Allred, who represents multiple women who have made allegations of sexual misconduct by Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump has vehemently denied the allegations, and he specifically rebuffed Zervos’ accusations.
Zervos and Allred said they called on Mr. Trump in November in retract statements calling Zervos a “liar” and referring to her allegations as “fiction” and “fabrications.”
Trump also said the 17 women accusing him, all 17 of them were all wrong. Then he doubled down and insulted their appearance.
Then there was the vote cast by Vice President Mike Pence that gave states the right to defund Planned Parenthood. PP does not fund abortions but pre natal screenings. See, the women, middle aged or otherwise know the REPUBLICAN party do not care about any child after they are born.
I’m thinking most middle aged women think of Trump as the bullet they dodged, the bullet they didn’t or the brother in law they could set on fire if they had the chance.
That’s why women march.
That’s why women will continue to march. That’s why women RESIST!

TRUMP’S WAR ON THE ELDERLY

(Source: Super 8)
If you think President Trump’s budget is going to be kind to Seniors, you are mistaken. The programs under review are work initiatives for seniors below the poverty level. Back in my staffing days at United Way and WVIA these people were called Senior Aides.
A retired person would get minimum wage but help out in the various agencies. At United Way the guy’s name was Joe Noone. At WVIA it was Adelle Lippi and Jean Rogers. They were indispensable the departments I worked in because they were experienced, personable and knew how to work.
Trump’s hatchet man wants to get rid of this supplemental program for the elderly and poor.
Shocker!!.

And yet, unless I am mistaken, the majority of the white women's vote went for Trump last fall. The majority of the senior citizen vote went for Trump.
Which I assume fares well for his re-election.
Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American voter.

IN RESPONSE

You are correct. What was truly astounding to me was the fact that these two groups voted against their own interests. I really believe older folks who had regrets in their lives took out a vote of protest just for the sake of some type of "finger to the establishment." An establishment that in many cases served them well.
As for the women, I believe there were two categories. One group that just didn't pay attention and never believed it was possible for Trump to win. As Tina Fey said, they just watched their Home and Garden TV and thought others would carry them.
The second group were women who basically couldn't abide a woman becoming President. Sometimes women can be their own worse enemy. I've seen it in the workplace many times.

Which I assume fares well for his re-election.

IN RESPONSE

I don't think he'll last beyond June of 2018.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American voter.

IN RESPONSE

Very true and the sad part is he is still lying, still obsessing over his win, his swearing in crowds, stripping regulations that protect the environment and has pretty much ceded his position as leader of the free world and there are those who blame his troubles on HRC, Chuck the Minority Lauder, the media and fake news.
Yup, you're right on that one too.

It's going to take more time before most Trump voters are emotionally prepared to express buyer's remorse.

...But it's coming!
