ROE VS WADE LEAK

The Roe Vs. Wade leak says a lot about the direction the Supreme Court has taken. No longer the last authority, they have become a tool of a political party that has taken a dangerous turn. Right now the Court with its Conservative super majority has now set a new precedent. They can overturn settled law. By doing so, they can now do what liberal judges have been accused of by the extreme e right, legislating from the bench.  This is not new for the Court. They gutted the 1965 Civil Right Voting Act.

Will it be gay marriage next?

Will it be the privacy of individuals? A gubernatorial candidate in Pennsylvania Doug Mastriano wanted to do that during the pandemic.

How about mail in balloting? Trumpanzees railed and whined about “rigged” elections. Now they might have the power to do just.

All of this was made possible by two Republican Presidents who lost three out of three elections by the popular vote.

America is about to turn back the clock 50 years to a time when women were not free and trans and non-binary people were not visible in our society The ruling, which reads like an unhinged conservative manifesto, calls Roe "egregiously wrong from the start." A final decision from the court, which is expected within the next two months, would make abortion illegal in 26 states, including in a wide swath of the Midwest and the South, and open the floodgates to additional states banning and further restricting abortion.

Already, a 26-year-old Texas woman was indicted for murder in March, after she miscarried and told hospital staff that she had tried to induce an abortion.4 The charges were later dropped because Roe is still the law of the land.

But no more, once this Supreme Court decision is finalized.  What if a woman aborts because of cancer? What if a mother has to carry a still born baby to term? Funny how guys with testicles make these decisions!

The Republicans are pro life until the kid comes out of the uterus. Then the block every program to help the mother. Abortion is a personal choice my family would never make. But settled law is just that. To up end it with a religious bent is to no longer have separation of church and state. Funny how those who screamed about their freedom being taken away by wearing a freaking mask are now high fiving this decision that will impinge on the freedom of women of all colors, beliefs and incomes in America.

Freedom is  a two way street and these right wing zealots on the court want their own highway with everybody following in lockstep.

We’ve seen this before 100 years ago when the beliefs of one party were set in law.  Remember,, Germany was once a Republic.

ONE MILLION DEAD DUE TO CO-VID 19

NBC News reports that 1 million people have died of Co-Vid 19. It is sobering and provokes many emotions. Lives lost from a disease that people are still denying exists. Along with the people who passed away is the death of common sense, decency and unity in this nation.  Those who selfishly wanted “their freedom” did little to help their friends and neighbors. CO VID 19 not only challenged us medically but spiritually. We are no lomger one nation under God because the mean spirit of the devil took hold of some country citizen’s  souls and held on tight. “Thou shall not kill” doesn’t necessarily mean death by violence but in the case of some Americans death  by ignorance, apathy and stubbornness when it came to the fate of their fellow men and women. .

BIDEN: MAGA CROWD 'MOST EXTREME POLITICAL ORGANIZATION' IN RECENT AMERICAN HISTORY

Here's a local example from The Daily Show.

It is something that most thinking people believe but never articulate. Leave it to President Biden to set the record straight. President Joe Biden on Wednesday referred to the Trump-led “MAGA” crowd as “the most extreme political organization” in “recent American history.”

The comment came in response to a question about the Supreme Court’s draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade, which, as written, also attacks landmark LGBTQ civil rights cases.

“This is about a lot more than abortion,” Biden said, taking questions in the Roosevelt Room of the White House. “The idea that somehow there is no right of privacy ... What happens if you have a state that changes the law, saying that children who are LGBTQ can’t be in classrooms with other children.”

“Is that legit under the way the [Supreme Court] decision is written?” he continued. “What are the next things that are going to be attacked? Because this MAGA crowd is really the most extreme political organization that’s existed in American history, in recent American history.”

MAGA is shorthand for former President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

The comments align with earlier statements the president made about the increasingly radical elements in the Republican Party, whose figurehead attempted to overthrow the republic in order to remain in power.

“This ain’t your father’s Republican Party,” Biden said last month, after audio emerged showing House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) brazenly lied about his reaction to the Jan. 6 insurrection, when he planned to tell Trump to resign.

“This is a MAGA party now. These guys are a different breed of cat. They’re not like who I served with so many years,” he continued. “And the people who know better are afraid to act correctly, because they know they’ll be primaried.”

'WHOLLY INAPPROPRIATE': TRUMP LAWYERS SCRAMBLED TO REMOVE SOME OF HIS DEPOSITION ANSWERS FROM LAWSUIT

You've got to read this. According to a report from the Daily Beast's Jose Pagliery, attorneys for former President Donald Trump frantically attempted to some answers the former president made in a deposition removed from a court filing because they felt his own words would be "prejudicial" to his defense.

In the deposition linked to a lawsuit accusing the former president of ordering security officials to rough up protesters at Trump Tower in 2015, Trump expressed his fears that his foes could hurl fruit at him, and described the projectiles as "very dangerous stuff."

According to the former president, the "dangerous stuff" encompassed "pineapples, tomatoes, bananas."

When pressed about tomatoes being thrown at him, Trump then responded, "It’s worse than tomato, it’s other things also. But tomato, when they start doing that stuff, it’s very dangerous. There was an alert out that day.”

That revelation was reported by the Daily Beast last week and, after it was revealed, Trump's attorneys sent off a flurry of emails to the plaintiff's attorney, Benjamin N. Dictor, demanding that he remove the bizarre back and forth with the former president.

According to Pagliery, Trump attorney Jeffrey Goldman wrote, “That exhibit is unnecessary, prejudicial and needs to be pulled ASAP.”

In a separate email, Goldman's co-counsel Alina Habba admonished Dictor, writing, "ASAP Ben. That is wholly inappropriate and prejudicial.”

Goldman later asserted, "To make your points you did not need the deposition. You have wrongly released trial testimony.”

According to the Beast report, "But it was too late. Half an hour later, The Daily Beast published a story about the testimony, inspiring a comedy segment from Trevor Noah on The Daily Show and commentary on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers and others," adding, "Later that night, Dictor responded to Trump’s lawyers that he was surprised to meet such fierce resistance, given that they had put him in that position in the first place."  PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE SERVICES

Congressman Matt Cartwright (Photo: LuLac archives)

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) announced $1,609,630 from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to Maternal and Family Health Services (MFHS). This funding is part of a $256.6 million nationwide investment to expand access to affordable, high-quality, patient-centered family planning and related health care services.

“I am proud of the work MFHS does to support Northeastern Pennsylvanians. This funding will help women and families by providing quality medical care to those who need it most,” said Rep. Cartwright. “This funding is an important investment in our nation’s health care infrastructure. I will continue to fight for funding for comprehensive family planning and preventive health care services for all Americans.”

“We are pleased that our organization, once again, has been awarded this vital health care grant and appreciate Congressman Cartwright’s ongoing support,” said Dr. Maria Montoro Edwards, President and CEO of Maternal & Family Health Services. “As a Title X grant recipient for over five decades, MFHS has served as our region’s direct connection to quality, affordable reproductive health care. We are dedicated to making sure our community is connected to the support and care they need to make informed, educated decisions about their reproductive health.”

Since its founding in 1971, MFHS has been working to meet the needs of women, children, and families to address health disparities by providing pregnancy care, reproductive health services, preventive screenings, nurse-family partnerships, and nutrition education. Operating in 16 counties, MFHS serves more than 90,000 Pennsylvanians annually through its programs.

For more than 50 years, Title X has been the only federal grant program providing funding for comprehensive family planning and related preventive health services. The current grant program restores access to Title X services across the country by supporting a diverse network of clinics such as state and local health departments, federally qualified health centers, hospital-based sites and other nonprofit and community-based health centers.

CASEY STATEMENT ON LEAKED SUPREME

 COURT DECISION

Senator Bob Casey (Photo: LuLac archives)

U.S. Senator Bob Casey  released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s leaked decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“If this draft opinion becomes the final opinion of the Court, I have serious concerns about what overturning almost 50 years of legal precedent will mean for women in states passing near or total bans on abortion. Congress should be working to reduce the number of abortions and unintended pregnancies and doing much more to support women and families.”

GOV. WOLF STANDS FIRM IN PROTECTING ABORTION ACCESS IN PENNSYLVANIA

Governor Tom Wolf (Photo: LuLac archives)

Governor Tom Wolf hosted a press conference with the First Lady, members of Planned Parenthood and other public officials discussing the potential dismantling of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision to protect access to abortion and reaffirmed his stance to protect abortion access in Pennsylvania.

“Today, I am angry,” said Gov. Wolf. “The right to bodily autonomy is under attack. Overturning Roe v. Wade isn’t about preserving life. It’s about exerting control. I don’t think it’s possible to overemphasize the seismic shift this represents in America’s approach to privacy, to personal autonomy, to health care rights. I stand today assuring Pennsylvanians that abortion access and reproductive health care will remain legal and safe as long as I am governor.”

Today’s press conference comes on the heels of the United States Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion overturning decades long rulings protecting abortion access. Since taking office, Governor Wolf has championed abortion access by vetoing three different anti-abortion bills passed by Pennsylvania’s General Assembly and vowed to veto the rest.

Additionally, yesterday, Governor Wolf joined 16 governors across the nation to call for immediate passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would protect access to abortion across the country and take any additional or necessary steps to codify protections under Roe. The Women’s Health Protection Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives last September but has not yet passed the U.S. Senate.

“First and foremost, let’s be clear: Abortion is still safe and legal. Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania (PPSP) is still providing abortion care,” said Dayle Steinberg (she/her) President & CEO, Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania. “The Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion is an unprecedented, gut-wrenching blow to our freedoms. The consequences of this impending decision will be swift and devastating for communities nationwide. At PPSP, we know that banning abortion does not remove people’s need for abortion services. PPSP is here for you with resources to access the abortion care you need. We believe your body is your own. You and only you should control your personal medical decisions. No politicians, no bans, and no court ruling should interfere in your ability to access abortion. Generations before us have fought tirelessly to gain and protect the rights we have today. Planned Parenthood will not back down. We are furious, and we will fight back.”

“We must do more to protect the rights of women and pregnant people in Pennsylvania and in every state across the country that doesn’t have a governor willing to wield their veto pen,” said Gov. Wolf. “This is a critical election cycle here in Pennsylvania and nationwide. To Pennsylvanians and citizens everywhere, your vote matters. Your vote is the difference between extremists rolling back Americans’ rights and a future where Pennsylvanians have the right to make their own health care decisions.”

MEDIA MATTERS

WALN TV

WILK'S AFTERNOON BUFFOON AND HIS SUPREME COURT CRAP!

On the day after the leak came from the Supreme Court on Roe Vs. Wade, Frank Andrews was in his right-wing glory. Like a true Treumpanzee, he was lying and crying. He blamed the leak on a left leaning liberal clerk saying that it was the Democrats who were behind it because they had nothing to run on in the fall elections. I bet one day this preacher man is going to blame the crucifixion n on the Democrats. He was yammering on but then he said this. I shouldn’t have gotten upset because he ripped it off of Ted Cruz but he said, “The Democrats have weaponized the Supreme Court!”

How?

It was the REPUBLICANS who wouldn’t give Merritt Garland, President Obama’s pick even a hearing.

It was two Presidents who did not win a plurality of the votes who put three justices on the Supreme Court.

It was two Republican justices who as prospective candidates lied about Roe Vs. Wade as being settled law.

It was a Supreme Court in 2000 that gave the election to a Republican.

That’s the truth.

But the Afternoon Buffoon, a failed candidate who lied about where he lived and was thrown out on his self-righteous ass has no  acquaintance with the truth.

Like his Lord and savior Donald Trump, he’s crying and lying again.

1975

Our 1975 logo.

The one millionth run in Major League Baseball history was scored by Bob Watson of the Houston Astros, during a game against the Giants in San Francisco. By the end of the 1973 season, sportscaster Mark Sackler calculated that 981,823 runs had been scored since the National League began play in 1876 and the American League in 1901; and before the start of the 1975 season the mark was 997,869. When the count reached 999,500 MLB set up a center in New York City to record each additional run at the moment that the batter finished rounding the bases. After Claudell Washington of Oakland registered #999,999 against the White Sox at 3:26 pm New York time, both Watson (in San Francisco) and the Reds' Dave Concepción (in Cincinnati, against Atlanta) came up to bat. Concepcion's hit actually came a few seconds before that of Watson, but in the race between the two men, Watson reached home plate at 3:32:30 (12:32 local) while Concepcion was rounding third base for #1,000,001… .
