WRITE ON WEDNESDAY

This week we hear from a very wise letter writer with her  take on the State of the Union last week. She tells us who the real crazies are and their names don’t start with a D.

WHICH PARTY IS THE 'CRAZY' ONE?

Editor: Congratulations are finally in order to Sarah Huckabee Sanders. She was impressively honest in her State of the Union rebuttal. She clarified for all Americans that party delineations were no longer apropos. Folks had to decide to be “normal” or “crazy.”

That decision should not be difficult. In his speech President Biden said that some Republicans were proposing to do away with Social Security and/or Medicare and the Republican Congressional membership erupted.

In fact, Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson has campaigned on the position that both should be eliminated as federal entitlement programs. Republican U.S. Senator Mike Lee campaigned on his pledge to “kill” Social Security and attacked Medicare and Medicaid. Americans have to decide if this behavior is “normal.”

George Anthony Kitara Santos Devolder Ravache is allowed to continue serving as a Republican congressman from New York, or, should that be three Republican congresspeople? The Republican House majority is concerningly thin. Normal?

Marjorie Taylor Greene, in a House committee hearing, asserted that Illinois received $5.1 billion at an elementary school and used it for equity and diversity.” The truth is that the entire state received $5 billion in educational funding, which was distributed among 851 school districts. Is Greene’s behavior “normal?” Or, does she , along with other Republicans exhibit what might be called “diminished intellectual capacity?”

If we closely examine the degradation certain elements of the GOP have brought to American politics, it becomes increasingly obvious that RNC currently seems to stand for “Really Nutsy Cuckoo.”

The choice is up to the American electorate.
