Hubert Humphrey, the former Vice President who ran for President in 1968 and lost has a birthday.  He was born 114 years ago. He served as a mayor, consequential Senator and Vice President. At the age of 14 I became a fan of HHH and worked extremely hard n 1968 to get him elected.

After losing the Presidency, Humphrey regained a seat in the Senate. Naturally he was a candidate for the nomination in 1972.   Of course, I volunteered and was thrilled to get this letter, auto penned signed or not.

I met Humphrey at the 1972 Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Dinner and worked for him until his campaign ended at the Miami convention.
