MAGA Republicans are wilting under the heat of defending the big beautiful plan approved by Congress. I can understand their frustration, but they have to keep in mind that THEY as MAGAs are responsible for what their party does. Ernst channeled Marie Antoinette’s “let them eat cake” reference by reminding her constituents about their mortality. All that’s well and good in the proper forum but when you have people who are on Medicaid as a way to survive, that’s totally insensitive. It shows the hubris of an entitled elected official that is all too common amoing the MAGAs.

Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst pushed back against constituents who shouted out at a recent town hall meeting that cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) would cause people to die by responding, “Well, we’re all going to die.”

The awkward moment came at a town hall meeting on Friday in Butler, Iowa, while Ernst defended the spending reforms in a House-passed budget reconciliation package that are intended to stop people who crossed into the country illegally from receiving federal benefits.

Someone in the crowd tried to talk over Ernst, interrupting her answer about changes to Medicaid and SNAP, yelling out that people are “going to die” because of the reforms, Ernst answered: “Well, we’re all going to die.”

That quip produced a raucous jeer from the crowd.

“For heaven’s sakes, for heaven’s sakes folks,” Ernst said, expressing some frustration about some people in the crowd not listening to her .And Ernst said the “SNAP overpayments that the states have been making will need to stop.” So in order to get tax breaks for the haves, the 1%, you  take money away from hungry people in America? Is that what she served in the military for? To screw working families who go hungry.

She said the reforms in the reconciliation bill are intended to root out overpayments and the payment of benefits to people who are not eligible for federal assistance under the law.

“When you are arguing about illegals that are receiving Medicaid benefits, 1.4 million, they’re not eligible so they will be coming off,” Ernst said at one point, hearing shouts of protest from the crowd as she made that point.

Once more. TELL US HOW YOU ARE GOING TO DO THAT? What is the plan to separate the eligible vs. the ineligible? Will there be access to tax returns? Welfare payments? HOW do you do all of that? Remember the states control Medicaid spending, so what is her plan, the MAGA plan to split the middle on this?

Ernst gets her itty bitty feelings hurt when asked a legitimate question. Again, the MAGA snowflakes like Ernst show their true faces.  All two sides of it.(MSN, LuLac)
