Hi Dave,
Though in my very brief radio career I never worked at WARM, we all knew what it was and what it meant to local radio.

My first stint as a guest on a talk show was on Rob Niedhard's show talking about Chiropractic and alternative medicine.

It is a very sad time now that WARM is off the air. However, what is even more sad is that the Mighty590, WARM, WARMLand and it's only WARM for me of our memories, has been just that for decades now, simply memories. Now it is even more permanent and more real.....

Sad ... Seems like it was already off the air anyway for a long, long time. Their power level was such that reception was almost nil anyway. Just another example of things going by the wayside. Lots of memories of the Sensational Seven and the likes of "The Big Fella", Harry West, Little Joey Shaver Show and so many more. The station was an integral part of a lot of our lives. RIP WARM!

I'm going to just leave the AM dial
at 590 in honor of WARM.

I'm not bashing WILK or Sue Henry. Please understand that. But what was up with Harry West today? What a classless guy taking shots at Ron Allen in a dining establishment and saying that Ron had a stroke because he ate too much. When Ron had his stroke, his weight was under control. And what the freak does Ron's luncheon habits have to do with his on air contributions to WARM which were considerable? Sue did her best to try to reign him in, but Jesus a muzzle might have helped. Plus he was taking shots at Joe Thomas' physique. Yeah Harry, keep walking around that mall a thousand times a day, maybe you'll find your manners you lost along the way.

Harry never was the sharpest knife in the drawer. He's the perfect example of give a guy enough rope. I really don't think anyone took him too seriously anyway. Not the first time his comments showed his true personality.

IN RESPONSE
What was your association with WARM and why are you so devoted to it?
LIKE SO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS AREA, I GREW UP WITH WARM RADIO. TOTALLY MEZMERIZED BY IT. AT THE AGE OF 12 I BIKED TO A CAR WASH TO SEE HARRY WEST. IN MY TEEN YEARS, I WROTE A ROCK AND ROLL COLUMN FOR A LOCAL NEWSPAPER AND MADFE IT MY BUSINESS TO WRITE ABOUT WARM RADIO THEREBY MEETING THE PERSONALITIES. I STILL HAVE LETTERS FROIM HARRY, LEN WOLOSON AND JIM DRUCKER. AT THE AGE OF 18, I DID MY DEMO TAPE FOR CAREER ACADEMY IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AT THE WARM STUDIOS. THERE I MET JOEY SHAVER. IN MY SUBSEQUENT CAREERS IN PUBLIC RELATIONS AND SALES, WARM WAS ON MY RADAR. I BOUGHT ADVERTISING OR USED THEM AS A PROMOTIONAL VEHICLE IN MY ENDEAVORS. IN THE VIDEO THERE IS A PHOTO OF ME AND HARRY TOUTING CHERRY BLOSSOM CHILI FOR THE UNITED WAY. I WAS OF COURSE A LISTENER AND STUCK WITH THEM THROUGH EVERY FORMAT. IN THE LATE 90S I MOVED FROM ROCK 107 TO WARM AS A SENIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE. BY THAT TIME WARM HAD BEEN DECIMATED BY CITADEL BROADCASTING BUT WE SOLD A RESPECTABLE AMOUNT OF AD REVENUE. BUT NOT ENOUGH BECAUSE WE ALL GOT FIRED. ONE OF THE GREAT THINGSA THAT HAPPENED TO ME WAS THE BOND I FORMED WITH MY FORMER RADIO IDOLS. AS AN ADULT, IT HAS BEEN MY GOOD FORTUNE TO FORGE FRIENDSHIPS WITH MANY OF THE ON AIR PERSONALITIES. THAT WAS AND IS A TRUE BLESSING. I KEPT UP WITH WARM WHEN IT WENT TO OLDIES AS A LISTENER AND GIVE A GREAT AMOUNT OF CREDIT TO PHIL GALLASO AND BRIAN HUGHES FOR KEEPING THE THING ON THE AIR UNDER TOUGH CIRCUMSTANCES. WHEN MANY MEMBERS OF THE ORIGINAL SENSATIONAL 7 STARTED PASSING AWAY, I FELT THAT AN ONLINE INTERNET SITE CELEBRATING WARM RADIO WAS IN ORDER. THAT'S HOW 590 FOREVER STARTED. WARM IS JUST ONE MORE LOSS THAT CHIPS AWAY AT YOUR YOUTH AND TEARS PIECES OF YOUR HEART OUT. HOPEFULLY, I'LL BE ABLE TO KEEP THE MEMORY OF IT GOING HROUGH 590 FOREVER.

Aw man....did the owners have the station leveraged? and just become
cash-strapped and maintenance averse?...
I am at a loss as to HOW anyone could allow an icon to wither on the vine!
Then again, this could be someone's business opportunity to get something that
"reaches the beaches" at a bargain price.

I've got 20 country acres in Brooksville, FL that I can be talked into trading
for a radio station. Of course, without someone else's cash for maintenance and
repairs I'd be pissing in the wind.
It is fun thinking about.....

Hey Dave,

I was so shocked to hear that WARM signal went dead and may never be revived. I remember listening to that channel througout the 70's. I grew up on that channel, it was what my mom and da listened to when they were teenagers in the 50's and 60's. I remember going to see basketball games during the WARMland tournament especially.
I really enjoyed your website, hope you'll be posting more soon.

Thanks
