JOE GOES

Whatever his real reasons, another area school director has stepped aside from not only his board seat but a county job. Joseph Oliveri resigned his position as a Luzerne County Deputy Sheriff at the same time he resigned from the Pittston Area School Board. Oliveri gave the same terse explanation for both resignations, saying it was for "personal reasons. He served under current Sheriff Michael Savokinas.

MARTY MOVES

U.S. Attorney Martin Carlson resigned from his position to accept a post as a federal judge in Harrisburg. Carlson, who has served as U.S. Attorney since 2007, announced his resignation Monday. The Times Leader reported that the 13 judges of the U.S. District Middle Court met several weeks ago and voted to appoint Carlson to a newly created magistrate position in Harrisburg. Some have expressed concern that Carlson's departure might cause a derailment of big investigations into corruption in politics in LuLac land. I don't share that concern since there is so much scrutiny on us nationally that I don't think the Feds would dare stop. I see Carlson as a modern day Johnny Appleseed who sowed the seeds of reform by his crime busting methods. I feel the train has left the station and can't be stopped.

M&M BOYS GET MORE TIME

Former Luzerne County Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan have another 20 days to decide what course to take in their public corruption case.
Senior U.S. Judge Edwin Kosik granted the extension allowing the pair additional time to either withdraw their guilty pleas or ask the court to reconsider them. The federal judge originally gave them 10 days to decide after he rejected their pleas on July 31, saying they have not lived up to the agreements that would have sent them to prison for 87 months.

BAN FOX NEWS

I got a silly e mail from the Democratic National Committee asking me to boycott Fox News Channel advertisers. FOX News has always been the propaganda arm of the Republican Party, willing to twist facts and even lie to promote the Republican agenda. But the election of President Obama in 2008 pushed FOX News into outright hate-mongering and incitement of violence, which is intolerable in a democracy. Tell FOX News advertisers to cancel their ads.
The e mail then went on to list the advertisers and some of the crazy stuff Fox News staff has said about the Dems.
Glenn Beck agreed with guest who urged bin Laden to attack U.S. with nuclear weapons.
Neil Cavuto and guest said health care reform will impose universal euthanasia like "Soylent Green."
Glenn Beck said "The President has exposed himself as a guy .. who has a deep-seated hatred for white people ... or the white culture... This man is a racist."
Glenn Beck "joked" about giving Speaker Pelosi a glass of wine with poison.
What the Democrats need to realize in this overreaction is that sometimes politically you are helped more by your enemies than your friends. Case in point: Glenn Beck.

On the day he was killed, the Dallas Morning News carried a John Birch Society advertising circular which was a makeshift wanted poster accusing JFK of treason. The Birchers and groups like them have always existed but with the advent of 24 hour cable news they have been given respectablity. A mere 20 years ago, had President Bush Sr. been accused of some BS act it would not have been aired in the legitemate media. Unfortunately, we have morphed into an anything goes news culture. Watch practically any cable news program dealing with politics and you will find two, three or more people fighting with each other. More than anything it has been responsible for the bad taste that most Americans have for politics in general. Opposing politicians in the past could be dear friends outside of the office; Gerry Ford and Tip O'Neill come to mind. Such realtionships across party lines do not exist today and sadly, never shall again. And it can be said that both sides of the aisle are guilty.

I think the national media is not around as much as you think. I think Carlson resigned because he had a disagreement with Casey over some charges in the corruption probe.

Why didn't he resign a few weeks ago after he was voted to the magistrate's position.

I think the corruption probe is in trouble.

6:21, Well said.
I tuned out FOX News long ago along with a couple other TV and Radio Channels. From what I read and cant avoid seeing, Fox is on the verge of treason at times!!!
Furthermore their "talking heads"
have no credibility. Zero. None! Dick Morris? C'mon! Glenn Beck, really?
The advertisers are there because thats the demographic the advertising agency bought on their behalf and its most likely something far from politics that triggered the buy.
Boycott the Network, not the advertisers. The Lunatic Fringe
has a right to be there, but not to advocate disruption or treason.

And MSNBC has been the propaganda arm of the DNC in just the same way.

What ever happened to just getting the news?

After watching all cable news channels over the last 20 plus years coupled with being involved in "events" that where later reported I came to the conclusion the FOX was the only channel that came closest to reporting what REALLY happened - note I said closest.

I continue to be skeptical but continue to find FOX News channel worthy of watching.

Neither Pittsburgh paper did a story on the resignation of Martin Carlson.

This resignation may have been a forced resignation, don't count on the national media to get on people's case's, I think the state media has already abandoned us.

Twenty Days in the Electric Chair is what they ought to get if you ask me. More time to be free and a blight on the community they were suppossed to be serving. Screw these two! No more free time, Go to jail.
