PHOTO INDEX: "MAYBE I'M AMAZED" LOGO.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED

Maybe I’m Amazed……that the Pro Life advocates continue to demonize Senator Bob Casey as being against life. Casey has always demonstrated his pro life beliefs yet “the movement” constantly tells us how bad a Senator Casey is.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that the White House was formerly known as “The People’s Palace”. Teddy Roosevelt gave it the current name, “The White House” in 1901.
Maybe I’m Amazed…..that in Pennsylvania the need for prisons is so acute that we actually send prisoners to others states and pay them to house our bad guys.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that so many people in Wilkes Barre my age remembered the late state representative Bernie O’Brien and almost to a person lauded O’Brien for helping them get their college education through his constituent service know how. Many told me this week that it was O’Brien’s office that helped them with college grants and loans.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that Brett Farve has not even called Aaron Rodgers and wished him well in the Super Bowl. Contrast Farve’s behavior with that of Donovan McNabb who recommended bringing Michael Vick to the Eagles. Farve always had a pass with me for getting the Pack back to the big game but he has been less than a sportsman the last few years.
Maybe I’m Amazed……that Subway has the audacity to charge nearly 9 bucks for a Pastrami Sub. 9 bucks for a pastrami sub from Subway? As a connoisseur of Pastrami in all major U.S. cities (love the Broadway Danny Rose at the Carnegie Deli in NYC) and locally, why would you even try to buy a sub like that?
Maybe I’m Amazed….that the staff at the bar “Screwballs” let a 23 year old girl allegedly consumer 5 beers and 5 shots giving her the wherewithal to go out and drive on the wrong side of the Sans Souci Highway. The 51 year old man she hit head on, died.
Maybe I’m Amazed…..that the very first date movie I saw, “True Grit” is back now after over 40 years and dare I say almost as good as the original. Gotta give a slight edge to the Duke.

Why would Favre contact Rodgers? Are they friends?
Who the hell even reports on something so stupid?
Sportsmanship?
It is a business and the goal of the business is to win, not be BFF's

Every Red Blooded American should jump in line to support the Green Bay Packers! The Packers defeated the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon thus earning them the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl. By doing so, they saved the Hard-Working, Red Blooded, Taxpaying Americans literally several million dollars of tax money. How you say? Simple... we were told that if the Chicago Bears had won that President Obama (and probably his family) would be attending the Super Bowl to cheer on his hometown team. Since the Bears lost...the President won't be attending. The money saved from not using Air Force 1, the limosines, all the additional security, and let's not forget Michelle Obama's entourage, is literally several million dollars! Therefore every American should cheer on the Green Bay Packers at the Super Bowl to show them our gratitude. Oh...and let's not forget to thank Chicago Bear's Quarterback Jay Cutler for his role in the Packer's success!

FIRST OFF, EVERY AMERICAN HAS A RIGHT TO CHEER HIS OR HER TEAM ON.
BUT A PRESIDENT, ESPECIALLY IN THIS DAY AND AGE HAS A RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS OWN SAFETY AND YES THE COST OF IT. GOING TO THAT GAME, ESPECIALLY WITH THE SECURITY PRECAUTIONS WOULD HAVE BEEN FOOL HARDY AND SELF INDULGENT. AS A LIFELONG PACKER FAN, I'M GLAD THEY WON. BUT EVEN IF ANOTHER TEAM BEAT THE BEARS, I'D FEEL THE SAME WAY.
Oh...and let's not forget to thank Chicago Bear's Quarterback Jay Cutler for his role in the Packer's success!
CUTLER WAS HURT. HIS FIRST HALF EFFORTS WERE SHUT DOWN BY A GOOD PACKER DEFENSE. THE CHICAGO COACHING STAFF SHOULD HAVE PREPARED THEIR NUMBER 3 QB A BIT BETTER. BUT I'M GLAD THEY DIDN'T.

Maybe I'm amazed that Sue Henry dedicated a good part of her show to drinking and driving, the amazing part was that the morning show was imbibing beer on the air at 8:30 in the morning.

Baby I'm amazed that you are amazed by anything these days!

The Packers beat the Bears! I'm tired of hearing about Jay Cutler and especially tired of anything to do with Brett Favre! The Packers beat the Bears, period. And I give em a 50/50 chance to beat the Steelers.

$9 Pastrami sub? Easy.

Everyone involved in the process of creating the sub is paid minimum wage (plus any benefits). Food, toppings, paper, fuel, electricity, rent, taxes, franchise fee, insurance, etc. - remember this when the minimum wage goes up.

9 bucks is a bargain Yonk.

Exactly on the "money" 5:21. People forget each time and employer is forced to raise pay for menial labor, part time, entry level or temporary jobs, it has to come from somewhere. I think good liberals should voluntarily pay 10 dollars for the sub, plus tip.

True Dat 3:48 p.m.
Beer tasting in the a.m.
and then condemning it later.
Priceless!

Agreed 3:48pm and 9:41am. The whole beer swilling segment sounds like nothing more than a frat party, with Nancy sounding silly trying to fit in.
It is really disgraceful that they promote alcohol consumption in such an egregious fashion.
Even the term, the beer buzz, immediately brings forth images of those new commercials about buzzed driving.
They try to bring it up a level by claiming they are promoting small breweries, but the fact is, it is an encouragement of alcohol consumption. And to add to it they are drinking at 8:30am.

You guys are right. Damn that minimum wage. Lets go back to slavery and then lousy pastrami subs will be free to everyone who votes republican and is a christian
like they were meant to be God Dammit! And what makes you think these people get benefits. Hell they dont get em and dont deserve them either like you do.

I THINK IT'S MORE LIKE SAMPLING.

"sampling" watch the videos and listen to their speech patterns and who knows how much more is consumed after they go off the air. i heard the disgust in Sue's voice.
they obsess over this segment all week. it sounds like "hey we're having a keger come on over.
i felt bad for sue, she had a serious conversation about a drinking and driving death, but had to follow this deplorable segment. i think it is time for madd to get involved.
this is a serious topic and i hope you post this. you brought up the drunk driving death and it is my hope you don't allow your friendship with WILK compel you to stifle the conversation.

I have to tell you that "The Beer Buzz" is not an appropriate venue for a news/talk station. Imagine if you will KYW AM 1060 in Philadelphia doing something like that. It dumbs down the otherwise great talk of John and Nancy and makes the station appear to be silly. I know you won't print this but I thought I'd give it a shot. The "Beer Buzz" has no place on a serious talk radio station. What's next, Hemp with Corbett?

At 2:32 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I would like to chime in on this one, I have to agree with the other posters, this beer buzz really needs to go. Friday talk becomes a two hour promo for the segment and let's face it, do we really need to give people in this area another justification to drink?
How about bringing back the beer bashes at the station.
I don't know what happened in Sue's life, but you can hear in her voice, she is heart sick every Friday having to follow this segment.
I think this segment only exists to get the staff free beer, at least that is the way they make it sound.
For anyone who knows, this is a re-tread bit from Rock 107 that John brought over, it used to be with Chip the beer guy. It was appropriate then, it is less appropriate now.
Being buzzed is being drunk and that is plain and simple what they are promoting. WILK is no better than the bar keep who won't stop serving because they want the money; WILK is promoting unhealthy living for free beer and money.

At 2:36 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

How in could you defend WILK's drunkfest when in a recent blog one of your main points about keeping state control of alcohol was that it would be bad for the community.
You don't think it is bad for 3 parents to be pushing beer drinking at 8:30am. Please. One consistent aspect of liberalism, no consistency
