TOWN MEETING DRAMA

The Town Meetings that dogged Democratic Congressmen in the summer of 2010 are now starting to bug the GOP Congress too. Republican lawmakers are being challenged by constituents about their support for the $4 billion in annual tax incentives for the oil industry. Republicans unanimously voted to preserve these subsidies. However under pressure, several leaders, including Rep. Paul Ryan , have admitted that Big Oil shouldn’t continue to receive taxpayer-funded subsidies. However our own Lou Barletta took at different approach: disagreeing with the idea.
When a constituent voter him how he could vote for tax breaks for the oil industry, Barletta simply laughed at the woman and shook his head, ignoring her. Another constituent then responded angrily, telling Barletta,“You’re our congressman, don’t laugh at us!”
For some reason that is beyond my comprehension, Barletta continued to smirk in amusement as the people began to debate one another, at one point even turning his back on the crowd and rifling through papers. If Paul Kanjorski was the victim of You Tube mishaps, then you’d think Barletta might have learned a lesson or two. Take a look at this video which I’m sure will be used in a campaign spot in 2012 if Barletta chooses to go for another term.

CORNISH A GO

Len Cornish is running hard for a seat on the W-B Area School Board. He has a reception scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday May 3, 2011 at Gennetti's from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, tickets are available by calling 570-825-1903 cost is $50.00. The committee to elect Leonard Cornish has a FaceBook page. All events and other info will be posted there. Just plug his name in there and get the details. Cornish is a pretty dynamic guy and can add a little business dimension to the Wilkes Barre Area School Board. God knows they need it.

YES AND NO

The Third District Republicans announced it will not be endorsing candidates for county council or school board. The County Council race is so crowded that I’m even having a tough time figuring out who’s who and where’s what. But the
committee members are endorsing the Republican candidates for judge: Dick Hughes, Joseph F. Saporito Jr., and Jim Haggerty.
Okay that makes sense but there was also a unanimous decision to endorse local Magisterial District Judge, Fred A. Pierantoni, for judge. There aren’t a lot of Republicans in the Third District if you compare their numbers to the Democrats, but every little bit helps.

As Will Rogers once said, "I am not a member of any organized political party, I'm a Democrat!" Well, the only group more unorganized than the Democrats are the Republicans. There are only 16 Republicans running for 11 seats on the County Council and this ship of fools can't figure whose on first! I suggest that call Lou Costello or his ruddy Bud and ask for an explanation. What a joke they be. Here's another appropriate old quote, "
We have met the enemy and they are us!"

Third District Republicans endorsed Democrat Fred Pieriantoni. Nice going Republicans, once again you prove yourself to be incompetent asses.
