PHOTO INDEX: OBAMA'S RIGHT TURN.

LOOKING OUT FOR # 1

The debt ceiling debate, one that should not have even taken place is inching toward its ignominious end. Once more President Obama came out on top. Just as he won his primary victories over the more qualified Hillary Clinton, just as he beat back Senator John McCain in the general election, Barack Obama has prevailed. In the debt ceiling compromise, the issue will not be revisited until after the 2012 election. An election presumably featuring one Mr. Barack Obama.
The rest of the stuff? Forget about it. Tax increases on the wealthy? Nope. Taxes are not on the table. Cuts to Medicare and Social Security? Oh yes they are on the table. Paris Hilton can still have her million dollars birthday parties but my 70 year old neighbor up the street is going to have to stretch her pennies even more. See what happened here with this “compromise” is that the President wanted a revenue stream and the GOP wanted cuts. The President didn’t get his extra funding stream but the Republicans sure as hell got their reductions. As a matter of fact Speaker of the House John Boehner says “the compromise reflects GOP principles”. Ya think, John?????
This is a historic night folks. What should have been a routine one sentence addition has now changed the course of history. We are on the road to austerity. When government cuts, jobs are lost. And they can’t be made up by state and local funding streams either. The formation of a Super Congress committee is ironic for me. During the health care debate we heard about rationing of health care by bureaucrats. Funding streams in the future are going to be judged by a Super Congress. I mean why bother with the rest of them? Because both sides can’t trust themselves to do the right thing…..or anything.
The saddest thing about this whole fiasco is that Barack Obama has again proven himself to be the bully without balls. He blustered, wagged his finger, told us he did everything he could but no one would listen or bend to his way of thinking. Again he wasted the bully pulpit of the Presidency all in the name of compromise. But the President, a Harvard grad misunderstands the meaning of compromise. “Compromise” is when you give a little and get a little. Not when you get a little and the other side gets the store. The bottom line is this: After all his huffing and puffing, the Republicans have gotten Obama to give up any tax increases on the rich while getting him to concede to spending cuts on just about everyone else. Oh but he did get one thing, he won’t have to deal with this during his oh so important re-election bid. Barack Obama has redefined the old adage, Looking out for number 1”.

And once again, the party of hate, the GOP, must lose seats in both the house and senate this next election. Lou start packing your bags, you're fired!

Students, with a debt ceiling deal now within reach we must congratulate the leaders of the Republican party.
They have shown Mr. Obama to be what I always have stated him to be: all image and no substance.
A marshmallow has more backbone than our President.
HOwever, I am greatful for this as we are now on the way to fiscal responsibility.
It is time to tighten our belt and face the music. I am sure that all of you as children had to wear a band aid at one time or another. Despite what you felt, your mother was always correct when telling you that ripping the band aid off quickly would be less painful than slowly removing it.
Well, students, we have been avoiding even touching that fiscal band aid for years. Today, thanks to patriots like SPeaker Boehner and Cong. Cantor, we have ripped off the band aid and are now on the way to a balanced budget.
Sure there will be pain....how can there not be when for generations we have hypnotized slackers and seniors with governmental dependence??
Students, may I conclude by stating that as of now, this is not your hippie parents America.

I don't care for the debt deal (as of this writing it hasn't even been passed.
I believe that Obama should have just raised the debt ceiling on his own and to hell with the GOP.
Looks to me as if he gave away any possible opportunity for a Dem takeover of the house as we cannot solely blame the GOP for cutting Social Security and Medicare.
What intrigues me is this:
ALl of these tea partiers must have elderly constituents; are they not afraid that they will pay for doing this????
I don't get it.
The worst part of this fiasco is that our credit rating is going to be downgraded. The economy is dead in the mud for certain now.
ONe good piece of news: The Bush tax cuts expire in Dec. of 2012. Obama will make sure they aren't extended. Then again, President Romney will probably restore them.
Good Luck America.

the poor and the elderly blah blah blah. go up to the ****ing casino and see where our money is being thrown away... check deposit day all the old folks are up there taking our hard earned money that we are forced to turn over to the gov't to support them simply because they aged.... watch close you will see them with their oxygen tanks and walkers heading to the machines in the smoking section. o2 up their noses while cigarettes in their mouth, then they take their fat asses to the the big buffet and over stuff themselves to the point that hip and knee replacements, paid for my those of us working, are required because of the damage they inflict upon themselves.

Barry Obama has done what no teacher, professor, girlfriend, wife, relative, clergy, rabbi, buddy, enemy, outlander, insider, crony, foe, or living human being could never do: turn Yonki into an official Republican.

I'm a lifelong liberal Democrat. JFK, Bobby, Humphrey, I was a field organizer for McGovern, Morris Udall, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and John Kerry. Do you think we can revisit that birth certificate issue?

This man is a disappointment as President. The Tea Party are a disgrace too. This afternoon i saw a representative from the Tea Party who said this wasn't enough. I think we should scrap the Congress and have a type of national home rule. Elect one person from each state and then have them appoint a CEO. Nothing else seems to be working so why not? At the rate Barack Obama is going, he may not only be the last black elected to President, he might be the last President we have.

Hope? Nope!!!!!
Change? The worst ever.

At 5:31 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Obama and his hope thing are a lot of crap. The GOP are just as bad, more likely much worse. What is a country to do? We're damned if we do, and damned if we don't. We need maybe more Independents in there? I dunno what the answer is. Seems we're pretty much screwed any which way we go. It's a damn shame we always have to settle for the lesser of the two evils.

Mr Yonki keeps saying tax the rich.
Tax the rich! Sure they should change the tax laws to most rich that pay nothing! But you read that if you took all the money away from people that make over
$250,000 it would fund the government for 2 weeks. Then what Dave? Borrow another 188 million
per hour? Keep on borrowing 4.5 billion every day.

Stop bad investments like WAR!
Jesus whats it gonna take to see this? Take care of the sick and elderly, thats what makes America great. Dont cut there. Cut the big ass elephant in the room that nobody wants to discuss, WAR! Stop messin in other peoples business. We managed to prolong the inevitable in Vietnam and we are doing the same in far away countries where we prove again and again we have no idea whats going on and no business being there! Take care of business at home where there is plenty amiss. The rest of the world thinks we are arrogant jerks and we are. We oversee elections in other countries and cant even count votes at home. We have too many elected officials taking too much in the way of pay and benefits and they still lie, cheat and steal. We are our own worst enemy. Cuts are in order, but lets at least start to make some of the right choices and get religion the hell out of politics. No one man can be blamed. Bush was the ultimate empty suit and OBama isnt a whole lot better. Its a damn frustrating situation all around. The current Washington impass has been nothing but bad theatre and it will continue and sadly so it goes...

Mr. Yonki,
What exactly would "YOU" have done if "YOU" were in Obama's position?
Surely, if John Boehner cannot control the wacko tea party fringe, how do you expect a liberal Democrat President to have any?
THe Tea Party is a group of looney toons with maybe half a brain between them. THey have absolutely no idea of the consequences of the debt ceiling not being raised. Or perhaps they are insane enough to want calamity. And that is exactly what Obama's choice was. This deal that no one likes, or economic calamity.
SEriously, Yonk, what would you have done???
I find it funny that all of the Obama lovers have now turned on him. Typical Democrat behavior.
YOu do not see the big picture.
And as far as single payer health care, you blame Obama for that too.
Well, how about blaming the Democrats in congress who are outright owned by the healthcare industry and would not budge on the premise of a single payer.
Hell, even your heroes Bill and HILLARY couldn't get ANY health care bill through.
ANd you want to know something?
It is NEVER going to happen. NO SINGLE PAYER PLAN EVER.
SPecial interests run the country and own a lot of congressmen/senators on both sides of the aisle.
That will never change.
Face reality and get off Obama's back.
Because the Dems are so dumb, I am sure you will have plenty to rant over the next Republican in the White House;
The fault Brutus lies not in the stars,
but in ourselves.

IN RESPONSE
What exactly would "YOU" have done if "YOU" were in Obama's position?
I WOULD HAVE MADE IT A LEGISLATIVE PRIORITY IN 2010 TO RAISE THE DEBT CEILING BEFORE THE TEA PARTY PEOPLE EVEN FOUND THE KEYS TO THE BATHROOM. THERE WOULDN'T EVEN BE AN ARGUMENT ABOUT IT.
AS FAR AS THE PUBLIC OPTION, I WOULD HAVE RAMMED IT THROUGH WITH A RECONCILIATION BILL. THIS WATERED DOWN VERSION OF OBAMA CARE IS BEING CHARACTERIZED AS SOCIALIZED MEDICINE WHEN IT IS ANYTHING BUT. AS FOR THE DEMOCRAT LACKEYS LIKE BEN NELSON AND JOE LIEBERMAN, I'D TAKE A FEW MILLIONS OF MY RE ELECTION FUNDS AND PROMISE TO BURY THEIR ASSES IN THEIR VERY NEXT PRIMARY. I WOULDN'T KISS THE ASSES OF ANY MODERATE OR CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN IN THE INTEREST OF COMPROMISE AND BI PARTISANSHIP. THE GOP NEVER PLAYED THAT GAME WITH HIM ANYWAY SO WHY GIVE HIM THEM THE CHANCE. RIGHT NOW OBAMA IS BEING VILIFIED BY THE TALK RADIO FREAKS LIKE RUSH AND HANNITTY AND IN REALITY HE IS CLOSER TO THEM THAN JOHN MCcCAIN EVER WAS. I'D RATHER BE VILIFIED AND HAVE SOMETHING ACCOMPLISHED RATHER THAN BEING VILIFIED AND HAD NOTHING ON MY RECORD. HE WASTED HIS MAJORITIES. IF YOU WIN, YOU GO BIG OR GO HOME. I'M NOT AS SMART AS BARACK OBAMA BUT I HAVE MORE GUTS IN MY LITTLE FINGER IN TERMS OF POLITICAL COURAGE THAN HE WILL EVER HAVE. AND THAT'S NOT BRAGGING, THAT'S FACT.

Professor, I am surprised at your comments. I thought you were a real fiscally conservative Republican. I even suspected you were a Tea Party advocate. Alas, I am mistaken! You say you are grateful that Congress approved a mere $900 Billion deficit reduction bill, that does not really do much now, coupled with the hope of a $1.5 Trillion deal in the future which may or may not become reality. You either sold out cheaply or just enjoyed the political theater that is going on in Washington to tear down a presidency instead of governing. If you truly wanted to see our economy get better or have a more fiscally responsible and smaller federal government you would have championed the much larger $4 Trillion deficit reduction bill that the President offered. That is $4 Trillion as compared to a possible $2.5 Trillion reduction in spending. Shall we begin to question your mathematics and economic training along with your other lack of skills that I have pointed out in other posts. Were you against that plan because it cut too much spending and removed a few outrageous tax breaks from big business and industry or because in may have made the President look better? As your faithful student my question to you Professor is what would you rather see happen? Would you rather have President Obama be successful, have our economy grow and win re-election in 2012 or see him fail, our economy continue to stagnate and lose the 2012 election? Please answer this question for your students before you chastise us in another one of your ramblings. As always your faithful student.

You have so much political courage what did you ever run for? There is a chance to make a big difference in WB. This mayor is screwing up and with the republicans and now Betsy Summers a good solid write in candidate with name recognition can take the office. You could pull it off and you wouldn't need boat loads of money....But where is your courage?

First: Somebody please tell the suppposed professor we are not his students! We are just folks who comment as he does but not with the know it all arrogance! Professor of what and where?
Second: Great response, Yonks. Great ideas. Sadly Obama wasted his mandate when he had it. He tried to compromise with those who would rather see him fail than the country succeed. He might as well have done what he thought best because it was a damned if you do damned if you dont situation!
Third: One thing I've learned in over 60 years is beware the Patriot! He or she is usually full of shit and has nothing in mind but their own limited agenda. We can add the doom and gloom patriot to the sunshine patriot. When the going gets tough they stay home and criticize those in the trenches.

Winter Soldier
And yes professor I was a soldier
and earned combat pay. At the time I believed in God and Country and was a Patriot.

Yonk, "rammed single payer through with a reconciliation bill????"; I'm no intellect, but doesn't congress have to approve rec. bills????

At 6:54 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

As far as I remember, at this very time in 1963 JFK was very worried about getting a civil rights bill through congress....
Why didnt he just "ram it through with a reconciliation bill"?
Because it don't work that way.

Students, the fury of the left is of a deafening sound. What is more surprising than anything, however, is that most of the left is far more angry with Mr. Obama than the GOP.
This, class, is wonderful news.
It brings me back to the 1980 campaign season when the left was so angry with Jimmy Carter and Ted Kennedy's ego managed to split the Democratic party.
I never thought I would believe it, but I actually felt sorry for poor President Carter. The man could not get a break. His ineptness in foreign policy allowed the takeover of our Embassy in Iran (and by the way, it had previously been taken over in February for a short time). This along with his "shock" at the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan only added to the fact that he was as inept in foreign policy as he was in economic policy. More on that in a future lecture.
Getting back to Mr. Obama; I would not be all too surprised if a Democratic primary challenger now emerges.
If there is one thing we all can learn (and I've been pulling what little hair is left on my head out trying to teach you simpletons) it is two things:
1. I believe that deep down your parents who spoiled you rotten and fed your egos to a falsity are deeply disappointed.
2. Barack Hussein Obama is a one term president who will be succeeded by Governor Romney.
Governor Romney by the way, bears a striking resemblance to Ronald Reagan.
IN closing, students, isn't it funny how when the country needs a real leader as it did in 1980, providence supplies us with one.
One more year and a half. I can't wait!

Thats right professor, looking like Ron Reagan is a real plus for any male political candidate! Maybe Romney after becomming President, will have a flashback and punch threw a Health Care Bill like the one in Mass!
Do agree with you on Kennedys ego getting in the way of James Earl Carters agenda, though. I do not remember Kennedy fondly, but I also do not believe Carter handed over the keys to the Embassy. Lets not forget the drama of the hostage release on Inauguration Day. That was a back door deal that belonged in Hollywood. Maybe Romney could play Reagan in the movie!

Professor, this is your faithful student again. I asked you to answer a question in an earlier post. I will ask again. Would you rather have Pres. Obama be successful, have our economy grow and win re-election in 2012 or see him fail, have our economy continue to stagnate and lose the 2012 election? It is an easy question to answer! In every classroom I sat in, from kindergarten to graduate school, the educator standing in front of the class welcomed questions and always answered them. This is normal procedure. Why did you not answer it in your last diatribe? Can it be you are a Professor at SIMPLETON UNIVERSITY and expect your students to sit there like zombies in wonder of your great intellect. Your students are anxiously waiting for your reply. Please do not fail them!!

Careful there 8:54! I graduated with Honors from dear old Simpleton myself. The Professor will not answer your question because he is not an educator, he is a lecturer. Besides a question aint really a question when you know the answer too.

Debate Team Member, by definition a professor is a teacher of high rank and therefore has an obligation to the real or imagined students to answer the question. A lecturer also teaches and is subject to the same obligation. I agree with you, we all know why he will not answer, but we must continue to ask the question. The student.
