WRITE ON WEDNESDAY

Thieves steal spirit of the season

I had to share this Letter To the Editor with all of you. The letter writer talks about being ripped off in Wilkes Barre. Let’s face it, in the city, especially the neighborhoods people take what they want with impunity entering your house or yard. They also drop their garbage faster than a male porn star drops his pants and put it anywhere they want. The college students litter the streets with their red solo cups and leave their housing areas a mess. There are a few local landlords who clean up after them but there's only a few. The outskirts of the city going toward Plains are littered with mattresses, chairs, whatever people want to dump. This letter should come as no surprise to anyone living in The Diamond City.
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this letter. I always have been a huge fan of Christmas. I have enjoyed how nice everyone seems to be at this special time of year. Well, unfortunately, the Grinch seems to have visited my home not once, but twice, this year.
On Dec. 16, I was informed by my father that he chased someone down the street after seeing him steal my mail. The mail, I have come to realize, contained a DVD I had ordered as a Christmas present for my daughter. Oh, well, I thought: It’s annoying, but not that intolerable.
However, on Sunday morning on my way out of the house to go to church, I realized my illuminated manger set was stolen from my front lawn!
I can’t begin to tell you how upset I was. Of all things to steal.
I am not a rich person; I bought the manger set after the season two years ago and was so proud to have it on display.
To the person or persons who have violated my mailbox and my front lawn, please know you have stolen more than items, you have stolen my faith in the goodness of people. Merry Christmas.

Welcome to Wilkes-Barre where almost all of these sumbags get away with this shit. A couple well placed bullets either to the front or back most likely as they slither away, would make a difference. Vigilante groups don't seem like such a bad idea to me. Yeah, I know, listen to this crazy red neck bastard ramble on, right? Well just keep it up and let these animals keep getting away with and thinking they can do this to whomever they want, and it will only get worse, and it IS possible too get worse. The bad guys outnumber the cops, so Wilkes-Barre's finest are limited as to what they can do. Plus when they do get caught, dammit, give em' free defense council. These bastards have more rights than you or I will ever have. But the positive thing about all of this is we are keeping our public defenders with job security. Personally, I rank them with the scum they defend. To repeat, a few well placed bullets will at least slow them down some. Just wait until some of you readers get violated and maybe you'll have the same mindset as me. OK, I'm rambling now. Thank you for the space to rant.

Very scary reply above. Sounds like the self proclaimed "crazy red neck bastard" would've fit right in with the Nazi regime.

Worried about America? You should be.

They all made sure to thank God in Iowa, but Rick actually thanked God for loving him! This cat is just too much. Way too much...

The Professor character is right on one point, Romney will be the nominee of the GOP even if his God aint quite right with the RRR, republican religious right.

Animals do not respond to logic, ethics or morality. They know force. Just the knowledge of a well placed bullet provides the necessary fear factor. Add the "crazy" factor and the effectiveness increases expotentially.

How many "crazy" red neck nazis do we read about? Mostly "urban" hip hop rapper tweeker dudes I believe.

Wilkes-Barre has become a cesspool. its a shame too because it used to be such a nice city. i hope we can get someone in the job of congressman who will actually do something about rather then see it go into decline further.
