COUNTY COUNCIL NEWS
The Citizen’s Voice reports tonight that Luzerne County Council plans to change the date Robert Lawton starts as county manager from Feb. 21 to Feb. 29. Tom Pribula will remain interim manager until Feb. 29, Council Chairman Jim Bobeck said. The change gives Lawton more time to relocate from Rio Vista, Calif., Bobeck said.
Okay, not to sound harsh here but this move has not been a surprise since Lawton was hired in early January. He was the front runner since December. If it were me, I’d have my wife or kids or some flunky take charge of moving and get my ass here as soon as possible. Just saying.
BUDGET PASSED
The tax hike is here. It’s at 2%. It will raise taxes by about $10 on a house worth $100,000. The vote was 6 to 5. The majority says they did the right thing, the minority says there were other options. Some vocal tax payers are angry, some like me think they should have raised the taxes more. By March 1, the 56 slated to be laid off will learn their fate. Unlike the proposed furlough days that would have saved all of the jobs, these 56 won’t be coming back anytime. This folks is only the beginning.

I AGREE. BEEN SAYING THAT FOR A LONG TIME. AND HE WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE TO ROMNEY (EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD BE AN EASTERN TICKET-IN 92CLINTON-GORE WAS A ONE REGION TICKET AND THAT DIDN'T HURT) OR EVEN A GUY LIKE MITCH DANIELS OR JEB BUSH, TWO CANDIDATES IN WAITING IF THIS (WHICH RIGHT NOW IS 50-50 BUT WILL BECOME 80-20) IF RICK WINS MICHIGAN. GINGRICH IS PRETTY MUCH GONE.
Dave, Dave, Dave....I thought the swimsuit models would have calmed your ass down a bit but apparently not. When you think about it, the delay by Lawton benefits everyone because Peibula can see some things through the 28th that he's very involved in, and Bob can wrap up his affairs there and have a few days before work to settle in and start meeting with officials before his official first day. Too much Tab man.
