The LuLac Edition #1982, March 13th, 2012

A beaming Santorum with family on Tuesday night.

SANTORUM SWEEPS

Rick Santorum took it to Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney tonight winning in Alabama and Mississippi. Santorum’s win in the south proves that a northern Conservative can win in the deep south. That has not happened in Presidential politics in a very, very long time. Santorum blew apart Gingrich’s southern strategy and Romney’s money.
Santorum, speaking in Louisiana, took a rhetorical swipe at Romney, the frontrunner who has depicted himself as the inevitable GOP nominee. The former Pennsylvania senator predicted he would win the nomination. Gingrich, in Birmingham, congratulated Santorum and said the outcome showed Romney was far from a sure thing to win the nomination. A victory for Romney in either state — which the former Massachusetts governor acknowledged amounted to an "away game" for him — would go a long way toward solidifying his claim as the leader for the GOP nomination. Santorum hoped Southern victories could allow him to elbow Gingrich aside and emerge as the leading alternative to Romney. There were 47 nominating delegates at stake in Alabama and 37 in Mississippi. In addition, Hawaii was holding caucuses with 17 delegates at stake. Elizabeth Santorum was representing her father in that state. Tiny and remote American Samoa, with six GOP delegates, also was holding a caucus.
Even though the night will end with delegates split evenly between Santorum and Romney, the perception victory is Santorum’s. Romney has outspent Santorum by millions. For Santorum to keep on beating him and staying close in the delegate race is giving the Romney campaign fits. The next big test is going to be Illinois. There are a lot of lunch pail voters in that state and Santorum’s message is resonating. The bottom line here is this, Santorum is connecting with voters of all stripes. Romney is trying to connect and missing the mark. There will be pressure for Gingrich to get out. He has not won a state adjacent to his supposed strength, Georgia. He is being seen as a spoiler on the Conservative side of those who want a one on one Santorum/Romney contest. All of this news was buttressed by the fact that President Obama’s approval ratings have taken a dip.

Students,
Once again, Mr. Yonki has assessed the campaign with his characteristic clarity and eloquence. If all of you possessed his abilities maintaining control of this lectern would not only be mandatory but a pleasure.

THe business of this classroom goes forward....

Students,
Although I congratulate the good Senator from Pennsylvania on his victories of last evening, I must caution you not to break open the Democratic funded champagne bottles. This race if very much turning out the way I had expected it would. And I will let you in on a little secret:
Rick Santorum is NOT campaigning for President of the United States---he is campaigning for Vice President on the Romney ticket--end of story.

As I had predicted, President Obama's approval ratings are once more hitting the tank. I suggest you review my past lectures of the previous weeks delivered at a period when liberal wags were calling the President invincible in November as his rating had gone above 50 percent.

If the President is lucky, his rating will seep up from the present 40 percent to 45 percent--it will NOT hit 50 percent for the remainder of his term. THerefore, for all of the hoopla on BOTH sides of the aisle over this election let us conclude that it is a waste of time.

Willard Mitt Romney will be the next President of the United States. No debate.

Therefore, barring any new major national crisis (as if we are not enduring enough already), I have concluded that I will not speak of the 2012 election from this lectern any longer until the Conventions in late summer.

In the interim, I shall address important econoimic/cultural issues which the new President shall be burdened with January next.

I urge all of you to support our new President. I urge you additionally to pray for him and to have the "class" to not wish him failure. This is the least you slackers could do, if not for an old fogie teacher such as myself, for your country.

IN closing, I would like to address the upcoming blogger meeting in the delapadated city of Pittston,Pa.

Driving through that town one day, I could not help but have memories of going through Berlin on a U.S. Army jeep in WWII. Such is the state of a city with a populace who is stagnant in its devotion to coming together for the common good. But, I digress.

I would very much like to attend the gathering, but am uncertain of the reception I would receive. A professor and his students should not socialize outside of the classroom, but sometimes mere traditions need to be broken. I feel I have a lot to offer to the gathering, but judging from the threats I have received, I fear for my safety. What do you all think???

FOr now,
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Professor: Go but "take precautions".

The threats are documented and I believe those that attend will stand up for your rights and safety. If they do not they should be named so we know who the posers are. I live too far away to make my attendance practical or would be your silent bodyguard.
What do you think Yonk?

It occurred to me since Obama choose "Scranton Joe" Romney's choice of Santorum would be a homerun. Imagine THAT debate.

You might think you are full of insight but I think you're just full of shit.

And your "comment" passes as insight? Still drunk from the parade, methinks.
Drunk posting is like @$$ dialing - when sober most are embarrassed about what they said.

To the always condescending poster aka Professor,
# 1. Check your spelling before you berate others for being intellectually beneath you. The correct spelling of the word you used in your criticism of Pittston is DILAPIDATED not DELAPADATED!
#2. You should travel through Downtown Pittston before you compare it to Berlin after WW II. As anyone who has driven through Pittston recently can tell you, the Main Street is really nice and business is getting better.
#3. You can rest assured that the Blogfest will go on without you and be a success for those who attend.
Your former student.
