BIDEN WITHOUT INCIDENT
Vice President Joe Biden came to Scranton on Fourth of July eve and most likely disappointed partisan Republicans and enemies of the Obama administration. Biden talked about his Scranton roots, the values he learned from his parents and grandparents as well how he imparted them to his own children. Accompanied by his son Beau and sister Valerie, Biden gave a good family values speech any politician could be proud of. The naysayers were out predicting he would say something foolish or stumble rhetorically. He didn’t. Biden spoke of how it’s now how you react when you get knocked down, but how you get up. Something his GOP opponents would know nothing about. Prior to the visit, Biden stopped in on former Pennsylvania First Lady Ellen Casey. His speech was short, apolitical and dare I say downright appropriate for the occasion.The final score: Biden 1, The Haters 0.

I have to comment on the way Steve Corbett carried on the day before VP Biden's visit. Rather than being proud that the Vice President of the United States was coming to our area, Corbett took the opportunity to continue his bashing. As far as I can determine, Corbett is still upset that his "press credentials" were not honored during the last campaign. It was just another case of Corbett being full of himself. The man is not the press, he is a talk show host and nothing more. Of course in his mind he still works for the Times Leader and still writing a daily newspaper column which of course he is not. I'm just getting so sick of WILK and their constant barrage of conservative opinions that it sickens me to listen therefore, I don't. I do try, I put the station on when I'm driving but the amount of time I can listen is getting shorter and shorter. Even on the weekend, the give us LA Tarone with his high pitched squeaky voice and conservative opinions. I just can't take it any more. I just purchased a new car and it came with XM radio and what a relieve and pure pleasure it is to have the ability to turn off WILK and enjoy some real listening pleasure. I didn't mean to leave Nancy and Webster out of my tirade, Nancy is enjoyable but Webster has that arrogant snide way of making remarks that are mostly demeaning to callers who don't agree with his conservative comments. This is a Democrat area and the Conservative Republicans control the airwaves, what a shame.

CORBETT WAS FUELING THE FIRE. THAT'S WHAT RADIO PEOPLE DO. AND AS MUCH AS I LIKE JOE BIDEN, HE RARELY CAME HERE AFTER THE ELECTION AFTER PROCLAIMING HIMSELF "THE SCRAPPY KID FROM SCRANTON". CORBETT HAS BROKEN A LOT OF NEWS ON HIS SHOW AS WELL AS L.A. TARONE IN HIS OTHER JOB IN THE HAZLETON AREA. BOTH ARE ASSETS TO THE COMMUNITY AND BROADCASTING.
