The Hotel Sterling.

ON THE HOOK AGAIN

It appears that Luzerne County taxpayers may be on the hook again for the Sterling Hotel. The Federal freaking government has issued a report saying that the 6 million dollars loaned to City Vest was not supervised correctly and that they want the money back. No one from CityVest has been asked just what the hell they did with the 6 million dollars from the County. The time to start asking and investigating is right now. The bottom line is simply this, Luzerne County taxpayers are going to pay for the CityVest incompetence and mismanagement. Whether those guys ever get charged with anything will be another story. As a progressive, I don’t mind paying taxes to build on our future in this country to make sure everyone has a fair shake. But I abhor paying taxes to pay the bills of a bunch of idiots that took 6 million dollars in public funds and never even did anything but “study” what they were going to do with the Hotel. In the end and that’s where we’ll get it, we, the Luzerne County taxpayers will pay.

PART TIME BENEFITS

While we’re on the County budget, let’s stop this nonsense of paying health care for part time workers under the Luzerne County dome. A lot of these part timers are solicitors who get paid a good hourly rate, have their own law practices and should pay for their own damn health care like the rest of us. And if the County Manager’s hands are tied because this is a union contract, break the union.

THE 32 HOUR WEEK

Really? Are we still, debating whether County Courthouse employees should work a 40 hour week? Or at the very least a 37 and ½ hour week? Why are we even asking? Everyone I know works a 40 hour plus week. It’s time to get those people who work for us to do the same!

The Sterling debacle is endless.
It just wont go away. One of the biggest boondagles in local history
its cost a lot more than 6 million and it aint over yet. Talk about massive mismanagement and lack of local oversight! This thing is a case for the books. Yank the damn thing down now! It hasnt been salvagable for years. And find out where the 6 large went.

Students,

Once again, as Mr. Yonki so rightfully pointed out in his paper, the County government via the failure of the Federal Government is placing an undue burden on the backs of the taxpayers. All of this courtesy of a once great hotel turned welfare flop house turned homeless flophouse. The edifice is now so disgusting that even the homeless refuse to occupy it!!! And yet, the local politicians with visions of kickbacks dancing in their heads got all of us involved in a matter that was best left to private industry.

Do I decry efforts to save old structures from being razed?? Of course not. But I do not believe the government has no place in these kinds of operations. Not one penny of tax money should be used for such tom foolery. And may I add, the same goes for government subsidized sporting arenas. The very arena that sits in Wilkes-Barre Twp. Is a prime example. Instead of charging patrons for admission they should be lead in free of charge since most of them already paid for it. This silly baseball stadium in Moosic is another example. Local politicians are the big winners all around. And laughing behind the backs of the dimwits who patronize such venues. And by the way, if the NY Yankees can pay millions of dollars to an imbecile who can pitch or hit a baseball then they most certainly can afford to pay 100% for their own stadium.

Local politicians are basically leeches with no true political philosophy. Their bottom line is the dollar they can get. End of discussion. Many have brains that would make the minds of you malcontents comparable to Einstein’s. That is a complement. You may applaud.

The main culprit is the enticement of federal money being thrown into the area. Like a drunken sailor salivating over a diseased harlot, the local wags wait for Uncle Sam to drop his latest batch of monetary goodies onto his/her lap. Which is another reason why I will miss the promising Administration of Willard Mitt Romney. Had we President Romney he would have cut the fiscal snake who spews his venom of governmental financial tidings at the head. The local politicos would see no advantage to hold office and then perhaps more qualified candidates of honour would come forth. Not just candidates of honour but of actual intelligence. Well, perhaps in four more years. Time will tell.

Until then, people of Luzerne County, you voted for them so you best stop complaining about them. The fault Brutus lies not in the stars but in ourselves.
Something to think about this morning………..even for mush brains like all of you.
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yonk, when will you learn to ive it a break and check your facts before allowing your fingers to run amock? Several departments operate on 40 hour work weekd. Most are on a 40 hour work week but don't get a paid lunch so they work 35 hours but again, they do not get paid for their lunch hour. So you want them to work 45 hours a week? You sure are turning into a mean old man who refuses to see anyone get a fair deal..They work 35 and get paid for 35, I call that a fair deal.

Nothing will really change in Luzerne County. It is still run by politicians and the manager, Lawton, is a career government employee.

ANon: 11:25:

Young man, had GOvernor Romney won the election I would most certainly have retired. THose were my plans....period. Unfortunately, things did not go as I had predicted. I am in good company however. Karl Rove, one of our great political strategists also predicted a Romney win.

With the Obama Presidency continuing, I feel it my duty to continue myself to keep the record straight.

Had Willard Mitt Romney assumed the office this January I would have slept well, and enjoyed life for the simple reason that the country would be in good hands...since it is not, well, even a malcontent such as you can understand my decision to recall my papers.

Young man, please go to the local supermarket, buy some soap and remember to use hot water. By the way, judging from you harsh verbal demeanor, you would do well to use some of that soap on your degenerative mouth.

Young man,
YOU ARE DISMISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
