LEAVE NOW

Again, the United States should speed up the time table to leave that hell hole of a country called Afghanistan. The stupidity and ignorance continued yesterday when a 25 year old diplomat, Anne Smedinghoff, was killed by terrorists. Whatever was she doing to deserve that? Delivering school books to the children of that country. Along with her, three U.S. service members, a U.S. civilian who worked for the U.S. Defense Department and an Afghan doctor were killed in an attack. Secretary of State John Kerry went on the offensive and called out the terrorism in the country in a strong statement.
It is time to stop making the strong statements and get out. These terror attacks have the tacit support of a government that is not loyal to the United States. I know there will be many who will say that to pull out would punish the people in Afghanistan who want freedom. Sorry, I’m tired of punishing by death the soldiers killed by the Afghan troops they are training, the contractors working to take these animals from the stone age into the 21st century and innocent victims like this 25 year old diplomat delivering school books. The price is just too high.
It is time to pack up, leave this country (and I use the word loosely) and on the way out, blow up all the roads, schools, hospitals, bathrooms, electricity and anything else we did for them. The cost in dollars was high, the cost in lives is an outrage. And no one in Afghanistan has even thanked us or shed a tear for our sacrifices.
They want to live in the tenth century, let’s give them their “freedom” to do just that!

CARTWRIGHT ON COLBERT

17th District Congressman Matt Cartwright is going to be interviewed by Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert. Colbert is featuring Congressional districts throughout the country. The Citizen’s Voice reports that Cartwright accepted the offer from Colbert (who I think is just a silly man who is vastly over rated as a commentator, satirist, entertainer, whatever he is) and is going to be interviewed on tape for about two hours. Out of those two hours, the Colbert people will condense it into a five minute interview.
On the surface that is scary. But Cartwright has acquitted himself well on National TV, and I’m sure he will be careful in those two hours of taping. However there is editing and that might be a concern. But Cartwright I think has the credentials and beliefs to keep Colbert at bay. That said, I’m sure the good Congressman will keep uppermost in his mind that taking questions from Candace Kelly is way different than from that silly man, Stephen Colbert. The Voice reports the show featuring Cartwright will air in May.

Dave......Could not agree with you more about Afghanistan. I'm from Pittston and we lost Dale Kridlo there. And I'm just asking....for what?
Time to leave. Something is wrong when we are more grateful for the service of our troops than the people we are trying to save!

Sad part is ... there will always be another Afghanistan around the corner. Right or wrong we always seem obligated to be there. And I smell another one coming up with N. Korea. Ol' Kim Jong Un in all of his 29 years seems to think he has to rattle his little toy sword at us and the world. God help us, it looks like we'll be jumping from the frying pan into the fire with the next one coming up. I just hope China stays pissed off at them and can keep a level head and not dive in to protecting the little snot.

5:26 PM Do you have a personal problem with our Congressman? As I recall, Lou "The PHONY" Barletta has had his fair share of press in LuLac. Personally, I appreciate knowing what our COngressman is up to
