THE BAD BOYS ARE BACK
The New York tabloids are going crazy with juicy headlines that rival the summer of 1977 when they had The Son of Sam and Billy Martin trying to fight Reggie Jackson. Former congressman Anthony Weiner is running for Mayor of New York City. He got into the race late against Christine Quinn, City Council Speaker. There are other candidates in the race but they are regarded as splinter candidates. Weiner’s entry came after disgraced former Governor Mark Sanford entered a race for Congress in North Carolina.
Spitzer is running for the office of City Comptroller. The Comptroller’s office was once held by former Mayor Abe Beame and has long been known as either a political dumping grounds for New York politicos on the way down or someplace for political comers to park themselves. Spitzer who resigned from being Governor of New York for his liaisons with a $24,000 a night call girl (like three quarters of the population in Wilkes Barre makes less than that!) had a show on CNN as well as an entry into business. But friends say his heart lies with public service. Spitzer is asking for votes from people who voted for him before when he ran for Attorney General and Governor. Weiner is asking New York City wide voters to give him a nod even though he only represented a district, not the city as a whole.
So if Spitzer becomes Controller and Weiner becomes Mayor, their redemption at least at the polls would be complete. But the interesting part would be how these two strong willed personalities would govern. Stay tuned for the newest miniseries in New York and National politics as this story progresses.

Spitzers a dweeb, but his babe was at least a true babe. Should review some of the great ones like Donna Mills ( was that Harts gals name?),Fanny Fox and Marilyn Monroe
and throw old Fawn Hall in there. Kennedys girls could form a beauty pageant of their own. And can anyone ever forget Megan Marshak? You could fill a whole Lulac.
B oth candidates had a character flaw but their ability to be effective public servants is outstanding. In England their "problem" would not even be an issue and I see no reason for it to be an issue here. I think people need to come out of their glass houses and stop being so judgemental.

Won't happen because this is what we do as people - make judgments on people, places and "things".
It all goes to "character" and we apply higher standards to those we allow to govern and control us.
Rightly so: presidents, senators, representatives, governors, school board members, D.A.'s, judges, cops, teachers, priests, etc.
Even as children we hate hypocrites before we know how to spell the word.
Yonk is the most underated public personality in all of NE PA. His dedication to the LuLac is unmatchable. He hangs in with his effort to research and publish without fail and if his health were as good as just half of us, he would be unmatchable...... in fact, he is unmatchable. He doesn't make the political mistake of taking sides as other bloggers do and he doesn't quit as some do. As for being a public serfvant, he is! If he were to seek public office, I would be right there to help him. I wonder if he ever considered a run for mayor? If his loyal readers only threw in $20 for his campaign effort, he would be well financed and a real threat to the politicians. May be, just maybe he will give it some thought. He now has the time to prepare and I would not complain if he used the LuLac platform.
