MAYBE I’M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED………..that there are still people in Luzerne County just itching to get back to the Commissioner form of government. This new set up isn’t perfect but consider a few things, for the first time there is a purchasing policy that has some semblance of order. But when one problem gets fixed another area that has been neglected for years has raised its head. While taxpayers have been paying the freight, most of us getting the money in on time, the criminals, and the lawbreakers have been not paying their bills. So much so that there is nearly 2 million bucks the Court system hasn’t collected. The time has come to do some outsourcing in terms of collecting this money because the institutions in place can’t do it. Pay an outside concern to get the money. And if the deadbeats who won’t pay child support, can’t make restitution for their crimes and are in arrears, then have them do clean up duty on the roads or garnish money from whatever entitlement they are getting. Home Rule isn’t perfect but if it didn’t exist, we’d never know about this stuff.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……….that as the primary election draws near, incumbent Tom Corbett is attacking everyone. His two big targets seem to be Tom Wolf and Allyson Schwartz. So that would mean the political gurus of the Corbett effort are writing off the strident Rob McCord and the energetic Katey McGinty. Corbett in my estimation will have more problems running against Wolf than Schwartz.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED...but not really that there are now doubts about Heisman Trophy winner Jamis Winston's claim of innocence of rape. Reports are now coming out that the police force in Tallahassee botched the investigation. You think? The crazy thing about this is that it now puts a cloud over a Florida Judicial system that has been beat and battered through the years. Plus there's the alleged victim and Winston. Either of them will have no idea when the other shoe in this thing is going to drop.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED..that the first penny had the motto "Mind your business".
MAYBE I'M AMAZED...that this cat in Nevada who has refused to pay more than a million bucks in grazing fees says that he hates the government. Well man if you hate the government, LEAVE. He lost in court, others have paid their fees. Harry Reid was way too kind by calling him a domestic terrorist. He's no patriot. Put him a place with no water, no roads, let him live off the land, if he gets sick, have him try leeches. Yeah he hates the government but wants the benefit of not paying the fees other people are paying. A real Amurican ass wipe.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED..you transfer more germs with shaking hands than with kissing.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that Donald Sterling’s girlfriend really put the guy in more trouble when she stated she was being paid off the books for being his “archivist”. Can anyone say IRS?
MAYBE I'M AMAZED...to make one pound of honey, a honeybee must tap 2 million flowers.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that the team that wound up picking Johnny Manziel in the draft was the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have not won anything in decades and I’m not optimistic. I’m a Packer fan but as a youth I remember the glory days of Jim Brown. The team has had some problems even after picking Manziel. Josh Gordon is facing a drug suspension and Nate Burlson is not ready for camp because of an arm injury. But the Browns are not worrying at all, a team official said, “We play the games in September…!” The problem is they play them poorly.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED..that only in Wilkes Barre/Luzerne County will a community take a dilapidated old train station and restore it to its former glory. Then in less than thirty years let that same train station go to hell and then try to turn it into something else. Folks, there is no place on earth like this area.
The Station then..........

The Station now.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED………the national GOP has now switched from Health Care as the worst thing that ever happen to America and have turned the burners on about Benghazi. While the deaths of four Americans was a horrible thing, from a raw political standpoint this issue will not sell in the General Election to the public. It will galvanize the GOP base but people in this day and age are hard pressed to care for the people in their own neighborhoods let alone 4 Americans killed by terrorists 2 years ago.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that I had three Tom Wolf yard signs stolen out of my front yard since the middle of April. If the college students from King’s in the neighborhood used them to puke on, I’m good with that. Better than the side walk. But if someone thinks they are doing any opposition candidates any favors, stealing signs never works in politics and come to think of it in baseball too. Besides, I have a supply. You’ll see them again.

Johnny Football will sell tickets and generate excitement but hes gonna be on the radar when he gets a hold of the ball and be punished! I like Hower anyway, but I am no longer a Browns Fan. They have an idiot owner too! Another ***hole with too much money!

I'm wondering if you sup;port Wolf?

I wonder if the guy with the cows is considered a "taker" by his T Party buddies?

Yonk, You're wrong about the county finally having a purchasing policy. They always have had one. Do you still hang on to that silly dream that Home Rule is the way to go? It does not work and it will never work so get that into your head. Under the Commissioner form of government, the peole had control. I agree they used tht control poorly but they had it. Now we have a useless 11 member council and a ing as manager and he isn't a very good king. In the military, Luzerne county would be considered a perfect cluster F**k.

Stealing signs worked for the Giants in 1951! I'm old...

The Browns experiment with Johnny Football will be another in a sad history of fixes that dont work.

Having now seen and finally heard from Allison Schwartz, I like what she is saying. At the same time I like Wolf less and less.

Sure Benghazi was a sorry mistake, but what about a useless war where a thousand times the number of young men and women died. If we hold no one responsible for the latter the former is meaningless political bluster!

Havent heard "ass wipe" in a long time. I laughed out loud!

Pete

Re Train Station: That little rich kid Thom Greco turned it into a million dollar shit hole. Everything that brat touches turns into crap. I wouldn't jump at blaming the county on that one. I was there many times while Greco owned and operated it and it was let go for a very long time.
