ISIS: GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT
Illustration: JDL UK.
The last few months we’ve seen the terrorist group ISIS hijack the world. There is no negotiating with them. Their mission is to impose a savagery not seen in the world since the 7th century. The latest beheading of Jim Foley the reporter is a perfect example of what this group represents: pretty much nothing but terror. They wanted no money for Foley, no dogmatic statements, no Praise Allah..nothing.
We should give ISIS what they want. Give them the life and tools of the 7th century. During that time Muslim extremists burned anything and anyone who got in their way. We should use all of our fire power to bomb them into the stone age. There will be casualties. But do you want casualties there or on the shores of America?
We should render useless any communication tools they have. If computer hackers can access finances, why can’t we find a way to render their tools useless?
America landed a man on the moon. What does that have to do with ISIS? Plenty. If we could figure out the coordinates to travel from earth to the moon, get there, communicate there and then return safely why can’t we track all of them down and destroy them for good?
America was founded upon revolution has never been good at being proactive with evil. We let it fester until we are forced to do something. Let’s no longer react….but act.
But what if we are condemned for our actions? Really, should we be concerned about that? We are hated and attacked by most of the Muslim world. What’s the point in worrying. Do we want another attack on our shores or do we want to be “liked”?
If I were the President, I’d do my own video. Look into the camera and say, “ISIS, take a good look. In a few days, you’ll be where your behavior will be normal. The 7th century. Enjoy your caves. See ya”.
It can and should be done.

ANTI HAMMAS WEBSITE

I came across an excellent website that you might be interested in. It’s called STOP HAMAS NOW and you can sign a petition as well as post it on Social Media. Here is the link: http://www.stophamasnow.com/ Meanwhile, it has been reported that Israel took out three key leaders of Hamas. They should keep going until they kill all of them.

FANATICS IN FERGUSON

Anytime a young man is shot by police you must call it a tragedy. But this thing happening in Ferguson, Michigan has been a comedy of sad errors that remind us that sometimes Americans are not the smartest people in the room.
The young man killed has had more autopsies on him than JFK did. People are in search of answers. The courts not the public should be the body to answer this riddle.
There have been mistakes all around on this. There have been demonstrations almost every night. I think the point has been made. It is a tragedy.
But on those demonstrations, let me ask this. Why didn’t Martin Luther King Junior have demonstrations at night? At no time during the Civil Rights movement was there a “night time” demonstration. Just asking!!
What I fear will happen is that it will render any future police action for a legitimate crime useless. Police are there to stop crime. Police are being attacked by imported demonstrators. Are they supposed to not fight back? There are some, even Conservatives saying that the police should be demilitarized. Okay, I can’t see a little town having a huge tank that could have been used in Iraq. But let’s not disarm the cops and make them impotent to fight crime.
There was a suggestion saying that perhaps Police should have cameras on them to record everything. I like that idea. The only people who it will hurt are the criminals and the bad cops, two we can do without.

JACK GAVIGAN

Former Pittston City Treasurer John Gavigan died the other day at the age of 90. Gavigan served as the City Treasurer for 12 years under the Tom Walsh administration.

WANTED: CHAPERONE

If you can manage a set of adults, some who are prone to childish behavior, name calling and questioning of a fellow member’s citizenship, then I have a gig for you. The Arena Authority Board needs someone to babysit some of the kiddos when they have their meetings. The problem has extended to people attending the meetings.
When I saw this story in the newspaper, I thought about the movie “Good Morning Vietnam” . Robin Williams’ character was getting crap from the brass when he was doing his character’s radio show and a Commanding Officer had to step in and say, “It’s only radio”. To the Arena attendees, both appointed and citizenry, “It’s only show business”.

The war with ISIS is out of control. I'm reminded of Nixon's reaction when Carter tried to rescue the hostage with a few helipcopters. When Nixon was briefed, he said we have more than seven to do the job.
As you say, we have the power. USE IT.

"Bomb them back to the stone age". Geez I think I've heard that one before. Much as I share the sentiment, its as absurd a statement now as it was when Gen Curtis Dismay first said it! Damn Yonks, I thought better of your intellect and still do!
Its easier said than done and impossible without killing a million or so innocent people. Still I believe there might be ways and you mentioned a few examples. Reel it back, Dave. Have a Tab and get your thoughts
under reasonable control. The lunatic fringe is already overcrowded with people like Rick Perry. Carefully planned and executed measured action and no coming up one helicopter short. Yes some decent people would die, but as few as possible. I think a joint US Israeli operation might be in order. They seem to usually know what there doing and do a pretty damn good job of it. Too bad Rambo and Chuck Norris arent real!

IN RESPONSE
"Bomb them back to the stone age". Geez I think I've heard that one before. Much as I share the sentiment, its as absurd a statement now as it was when Gen Curtis Dismay first said it! Damn Yonks, I thought better of your intellect and still do!
I WAS SUPPORTING HUMPHREY WHEN THE "BOMBS AWAY WITH CURTIS LEMAY" STUFF HIT THE FAN. HE WAS WALLACE'S RUNNING MATE IN '68 AS YOU KNOW. BUT LEMAY CALLED FOR STRATEGIC ATONIC STRIKES. I'M NOT FOR NUCLEAR WAR BUT I THINK THERE HAS TO BE A STRATEGY TO GO AFTER ISIS.
WE SHOULD MAKE THEM UNCOMFORTABLE. I BELIEVE WE CAN USE OUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN DISABLING THEIR MEANS OF TALKING TO EACH OTHER.
THEY ARE A THREAT AND WE NEED TO TAKE AWAY THE WEAPONS, SCRAMBLE THEIR SIGNALS AND STARVE THEM IF WE NEED TO.
AMERICA DESTROYED GERMANY. IT ANNIHILATED JAPAN. IT WAS WAR. IT WAS A MISSION TO STOP BOTH THREATS. PEOPLE GOT KILLED. THERE WERE MANY INNOCENT GERMAN AND JAPANESE PEOPLE KILLED IN WWII BECAUSE OF THE EMPEROR AND 'DOLF. WE SHOULD STOP BEING SO SQUEAMISH. MAYBE WE SHOULDN'T BOMB THEM BACK TO THE STONE AGE BUT LET'S CUT THESE BASTARDS OFF AT THE KNEES. THEN LET THEM CRAWL IN THE DIRT. THAT'S WHERE THEY BELONG. BUT WE NEED A PLAN. WE HAVE THE MILITARY, WE SPEND BILLIONS ON DEFENSE. LET'S PUT IT TO GOOD USE.
WE SPENT BILLIONS OF DOLLARS CHASING PHANTOM WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. THESE CLOWNS ARE OUT IN THE OPEN. IT'S TIME TO KILL THEM. THEY ARE REAL TARGETS. WE SHOULD AIM...AND THEN FIRE.

You don't win wars by defeating the military, wars are won by destroying the will of the population.
You hit the answer Yonk. We try to follow "civilized" rules, however there is nothing civilized about wars, and our enemy understands that and they don't handcuff themselves with illogical limited strikes or attacking only military targets

It is 7:01 AM. The sun seems to be coming up. I was in doubt because I was afraid the world had stopped turning. In this post from the blog editor...there was nary a mention of Tom Wolf, Matt Cartwright, Mrs LuLac or tall women.
Obla di obla dah..life does go on.
Thank you God.
Whew.

Regarding ISIS...very credible points made by you. That said, I doubt we ever will fight in that way for several reasons.
First, it used to be tradition in times of foreign policy crisis to rally around the President. Not any longer is this true. Read comment lines on any newspaper story concerning ISIS (or completely unrelated subjects, i.e. a flower show) and you will see comments bashing the President via below the belt digs. Divided governments make themselves vulnerable and we are such.
Second, today's political correct modem has now spread to how we fight our wars. 24 hour cable news instills fears in politicians and these networks have a hack for every opinion under the sun (most of whom, do not know what they are talking about).
Third, and most important, Sacrifice.
Americans of today are self-oriented and we have entire generations who would never even sacrifice a tic tac, let alone endure a hardship necessary to win a war.
YOu stated we won WWII and we did, but we did so by rationing gas and food in the states and enduring additional hardship stateside. If we possessed the values we hold today in that period there would be a swastika flying over the White House today. Can anyone imagine a politician asking such a sacrifice nowadays and equally the people accepting such a challenge??? Maybe I'm cynical, but I say NO.
And let us not even talk of returning the military draft...No parent would ever go for it..let the poor kids do our fighting....
Bless YOU>

It seems as though a lot of us have reached the turning point with ISIS and the rest of the ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALIST TERRORISTS.

Knowing how upset you were over closed churches, I can only imagine how you would feel if we capitulate to the Islamic terrorist demands.

"Peace Through Superior Firepower" is only a slogan. We must demonstrate our ability and show our anger.

We need a leader Yonk not a community organizer advised by whimpy pseudo-intellectuals who have lost our trust.

On a lighter note when 11:07 mentioned a great shot of the tomato I went back half expecting a picture of Genna Davis!

In regards to your article on ISIS. All we need is to bring back President Harry S. Truman. Put his finger on the button and it is all over.

Excellent point about Dr. King and the demonstrations he conducted. Always in the daylight. I'm not sure anyone else locally or nationally said that! Great job Yonk.
