THE SIGNIFICANCE OF NOVEMBER 13th  TO ISLAM

A good friend of ours sent this along regarding the November 13th attack on Paris. He researched this and passed it along. It is interesting but I think ISIS is so unaware of the historical significance of anything that maybe this went over their heads. Then again..maybe not!
The Historical Significance of November 13th in Islam:
On November 13, 1918 the Allied troops occupied Constantinople, the capital of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire was the Caliphate, the Islamic State of its day.
A little extra background, from the Wikipedia entry, Defeat and Dissolution of the Ottoman Empire:
The Occupation of Constantinople took place in accordance with the Armistice of Mudros signed on 31 October 1918], ending the Ottoman participation in World War I. The occupation had two stages: the initial occupation took place from 13 November 1918 to 16 March 1920; from 16 March 1920 – Treaty of Sevres.
1918 saw the first time Constantinople had changed hands since the Ottoman Turks conquered the Byzantine capital in 1453. An Allied military administration was set up early in December 1918. Haghia Sophia was converted back into a cathedral by the Allied administration, and the building was returned temporarily to the Greek Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch.

BARLETTA URGES GOV. WOLF TO STOP TAKING SYRIAN REFUGEES

Congressman Lou Barletta today sent a letter to Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf urging him to reconsider his plans to accept so-called “Syrian refugees” in Pennsylvania in the wake of Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris. Barletta, a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, advised Wolf to heed the warnings of national security experts that the vetting process for the refugees is inadequate and flawed.
“I write to urge you in the strongest terms possible to reconsider your plans to accept the so-called ‘refugees’ fleeing Syria and welcome them to Pennsylvania,” Barletta wrote to Gov. Wolf. “As a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, and also its Subcommittee on Counter terrorism and Intelligence, I implore you to suspend cooperation until a dependable system is in place to check the background of those seeking refugee status.”
Barletta reminded Gov. Wolf that one of the attackers in the Paris terrorist assaults is believed to have entered the European Union through Greece as a Syrian refugee. Barletta indicated that this should give Pennsylvania pause in accepting the relocated refugees.
“In my role on the committee tasked with overseeing much of the security apparatus of this country, I have had the opportunity to speak directly with some of our best and most experienced national security experts,” Barletta said. “They have told me that properly vetting these refugees is a difficult challenge at best and nearly impossible at worst. These are professionals who are best positioned to know what our intelligence and analytical capabilities are, and I strongly recommend that you consider their warnings.”
Barletta noted that governors of other states have decided to reject the settlement of refugees and asked Gov. Wolf to follow suit.
“With all these facts considered, I appeal to your concern for the safety of your fellow Pennsylvanians and ask that you reverse your policy of accepting the so-called ‘Syrian refugees.’” Barletta wrote. “Already, the governors of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Michigan, and Texas have announced that they will not be cooperating with the federal relocation program. I urge you to direct your administration to do the same.”

Actually Dave, it is more likely that Americans have no clue of the history of what has been going on, or the significance. From fools like Limbaugh, Corbett, Tarone, Levine, on the radio to our last 2 presidents and their administrations, they are all clueless.
This war with the "middle east" has been going on for hundreds of years.
It is unwinnable, because we are dealing with generational enemies that are not a government entity.
There is no Hitler to kill himself in a bunker, or Emperor to sign a treaty.
We got Bin Laden, there is someone else.
These cells are not controlled by a centralized government. They are independent. One group gets crippled, another takes it place, but they are all the same. Obama and his recent secretaries of state were the most foolish, calling ISIS/ISIL the junior varsity just shows there lack of understanding.
Americans are so uninformed, this didn't start with George W, it didn't start with Israel, nor did it start with the end of WWI.
Our interests with the region have been since the founding of the country, and the battle with Europe predates the crusades.
It was the B movie actor who actually understood that pledging blood and treasure was a fools errand, and putting troops on Arab ground would only incite and flame the fires of war.

There are many layers to this, and it takes a little time and effort to grasp it all.

If you are interested, I recommend starting with Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East: 1776 to the Present .... although the present was a few years ago... interesting insight into what really is going on in the region. It isn't the end all be all, but it is fascinating to realize, this is nothing new.
