The LuLac Edition #3606, October 2nd, 2017
I heard on the 3am newscast Monday morning on WTAM during George Noory that there was a mass shooting in Las Vegas. There was shock, then curiosity, and then resignation.
When people called for Congress to do something, they were accused of politicizing the tragic night at the concert. But damn it this is POLITICAL. Politics is what can fix this. Politicians can fix it.
There is no reason in the world why someone should have machine gun clips that cut down people in seconds. The ironic thing is I was told he wasn’t even aiming.
Here’s what will happen. There will be wall to wall news coverage. An in depth study into who the shooter was and why he did this. One side will call for reasonable gun reform but the REPUBLICAN party will talk about mental health care (which they will cut if given the chance) and freedom to bear arms.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, breaking up unprofessionally, said gun reform was not the time or place to discuss today. Really, why the hell not? If not today, then why?
We all feel bad but things and events will overshadow this. We’ll still remember but then as time goes by the events will become hazy, blended into the other mass killings in the United States that were by the way, not paid terrorists.
We killed political leaders.
We killed people going to church.
We killed people in military installations.
We killed people doing the news.
We killed little children going to school, their bodies torn to shreds.
We killed people going to the movies.
Last night Country and Western music fans were killed enjoying a concert.
Same problem, same outcome, just different body counts, locations and venues. The only common denominators are a sick shooter who slipped through the system. Plus once again the shooter (fill in the name) had access to a gun with clips in it that can kill people as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.
Things will calm down, this country will move on to the next big story and when the next shooting happens, some will be hard pressed to tell you what town this happened in and when.
Time will pass, nothing will change. Your elected leaders will see to that. Until the next array of innocent sitting ducks will be annihilated by a gunman who has more firepower than absolutely necessary.
Then this cycle will once again begin like washing your hair.
Wash, rinse and repeat.
Our inability to act has brought us to that simple, tragic formula.

Why are we never privy to the toxicology reports of these mass murderers?
I want to know if there is a common thread like medications that go awry.
My God Yonki you are a freaking prophet. I saw this on Fox, Liberal Media Calls for Gun Control.
The drumbeat now starts for the right to protect the NRA, the right to blast people to kingdom come and then lik their hero, Trumpee....deflect and transfer who they really are on to the Dems.
Hannitty called it shameful. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Excellent article! It explains why I viewed maybe 90 minutes tops of the TV coverage and sussed it.
Went to ME TV.
"Our inability to act has brought us to that simple, tragic formula."
Unfortunately, there is NO action to be taken, that is the sad truth. Certain people have always killed, and certain people will always kill. Sometimes by gun, sometimes by homemade bombs, sometimes by knife, sometimes using a car, sometimes using fire. Hell, if he used a high tension compound bow and arrows, because of the silence of the weapon, he may have killed more. The person intent on killing people, unless incapacitated by their own infirmary or death, will find a way, they do find a way.
The naïve are the ones who think we can do something. The pathetic are the ones who say, "we have to do something, anything" whether effective or not. The scumbags are the ones who use these tragedies for political purposes and divisions.
On a side note, if a democrat broke down and teared up you, would have lauded their humanity, a republican does it and you call her unprofessional. Although, if your writings which demonstrate your contempt for those with whom you disagree are any indication, I am sure you believe Hayley Geftman-Gold should be celebrated.

As Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, "Time and place for everything". No if a Democrat did that I'd have the same reaction. Call me funny but when you charged with a responsibility, you set your emotions aside to make sure you comfort those who need it. America didn't need that display yesterday.
On a very small scale, but still relevant, when you are chosen to do a eulogy for a loved one, like I and many of my cousins have, you shut down as best you can your emotions. Cry before, cry later, but YOUR JOB is to project calm and strength. Give comfort, set yourself aside.
On contempt, wow what a judgement call. When I call out people who consistently vote against their own interest, demonize other people, you see contempt. It's all in the eye of the beholder.
On Geftman-Gold, hey nice cherry picking. You did your research. Here's my take. If she had stopped after her statement about the children, she would have been fine. I even referenced that. After Sandy Hook, the Senate couldn't even get the barest bill passed because of BOTH Republicans like the recently canonized Jeff Flake who is now so popular because he talks commonsense about what Trump is doing to the GOP and the spineless DEMOCRAT Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Let's not forget our own Pat Toomey who said one thing and did another. She was correct, hearts couldn't be moved when children's bodies were torn to shreds.
Now the second part about the Country and Western fans, her not being sympathetic to them because she thinks they are Trump supporters was a fireable offense. And it should not be celebrated.
Nice try there but thanks as always for posting and reading
Set emotions aside? What are you a fucking robot? Emotions are what make us human. Emotions are what make us care enough to do something. I have always been suspicious of those who suppress their emotions, because in a way, they are suppressing their humanity.

You missed my point. No one is more emotional than me. But when I have a task, when most people are given a task to ease the pain of others, if you have the strength you step aside yourself.
When my friends Sue Henry and Mike Moran gave the eulogy for L.A. Tarone back in June, their hearts were breaking. But they went through the words and memories for the benefit of others.
When my mother died, it was an ordeal to say goodbye in that pulpit. But that was on the inside. She raised a son who knew the time and place. Many tears were shed over her death that year in 2008 but not when I had the responsibility and privilege to honor her life.
Emotions can sometimes be selfless. It doesn't make them, as you stated in the most pedestrian manner, a fucking robot.
