TONY BROOKS ANNOUNCES FOR....REELECTION
 Tony Brooks announces.
Crowd gathers to support him.
(Photos by Kathleen Smith)
Wilkes Barre City Council President Tony Brooks had an announcement earlier this evening at The Carriage House in Wilkes Barre. Speculation was rampant that Brooks might run for Mayor. Well, someday but not in 2019.
The popular Republican, the first elected in 30 years to City Council is making the smart move. Brooks has been helping to build the viability of his party. He currently chairs Sue Henry's effort to unseat Eddie Day Pashinski in the 121st for his House seat.
Plus Brooks has been front and center in saving historic structures in the city.
In a statement, Brooks said, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the attendees at tonight's reception. Special thanks to Senator Lisa Baker and host Rich Jenkins. Our success shattered expectations. 155 donors and $7,000 will go a long way for our re-election efforts in 2019. The crowd tonight was Wilkes Barre at its best, I am honored to have such great friends, family, neighbors and supporters."
While 2019 is a while away, there are tons of people making noises about making a run for Mayor. Some range from the sublime to the ridiculous but Brooks isn't one of those.
More on the big race in Wilkes Barre for Mayor AFTER this election.
Hey how about after Christmas!

ON ANOTHER FRONT.....LUZERNE COUNTY ON CNN

CNN tonight on their Outfront program talked to Luzerne County residents about their support for President Trump. They interviewed the usual suspects who pledged their fidelity to TAHFQ. My friends the Sorokas' were on TV again and don't care about what Trump does as long as the stock market rises. Eileen was a Democratic committee woman and County Council member. They interviewed a lady who didn't like the infidelity, said if  hush money came from the campaign,  she'd be disappointed but still vote for him.
One barber and one of his customers noted that he was concerned about the proposed pardons and that might be able to sway him in the other direction.
I'm stunned though that residents of Luzerne County bemoan the length of the Mueller investigation since Luzerne County  Judges arrested and convicted should have been top of mind to them.
Those investigations started in 2006 and ended in arrest 3 years later.
But most people here in this county are civic and political numbskulls so why was I surprised by these comments about an ongoing investigation.
It's easy to yell "lock her up" without any criminal charges but once their guy is under the microscope, it's going on too long.

MIGHT NOT BE RUSSIAN COLLUSION YET, BUT TRUMP IS IN DEEP TROUBLE

In 2016 when Hillary Clinton was being demonized, I heard so many people say they didn’t trust her, thought she was a liar and even though she stood her ground and never changed her story about the e mails, we were told “Oh I don’t want a President under investigation”.
So they went and voted for Trump and got what?
A President under investigation.
President Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, confessed in open court to committing a crime at Trump’s direction. The crime is violating campaign finance law, by using Trump’s personal funds for a campaign-related expense (paying hush money to his mistresses).
And Trump had the evil stones to parade Bill Clinton's women before the former President wife's second debate. Was not TAHFQ projecting just a tad bit there?
The official White House defense of the president was on display from press secretary Sarah Sanders, who repeatedly told reporters Trump “did nothing wrong. There are no charges against him.”
Trump’s own defense, offered on Fox & Friends, is just plain crazy!  Trump insisted he is in the clear because the payments “weren’t taken out of campaign finance … They didn’t come out of the campaign, they came from me.”
That is not a defense. That is why it’s a crime. If the money came from the campaign, it would have been legal if reported.
Asked why Trump didn’t report his payments, Sanders simply said she wouldn’t “get into the back-and-forth details.”
This is the first time in American history that Prosecutors and even the President himself is ax]accused of committing a felony.
CNN’s Carl Bernstein said, “This is worse than Watergate”.
He's right. John Dean didn't even do that to Richard Nixon. He just laid out the facts. Cohen sang!  And no matter what Diaper Don says, you can't unsing that note.

WEST VIRGINIA INGRATE HICKS YELL LOCK HER UP

Donald Trump got out of Dodge to the friendly confines of West Virginia ingrates who, less than an hour after two Trump aides were pleading or found guilty, yelled "Lock Her Up" or "Drain the Swamp"
This bunch of ungrateful hicks have been living off the Federal government's dime for decades. The state of West Virginee is loaded with federal money but these ignorami cheer the charlatan on.
You can't fix stupid and if you're been to  West Virginee, why even try with these pathetic morons!

Discussions in Geneva, between the United States, the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom on a nuclear test-ban treaty, adjourned indefinitely…. In Washington, reporters asked President Eisenhower about Vice-President (and Republican presidential candidate) Richard Nixon's experience. THe Kennedy people ran on ad on this!

Charles Mohr of TIME Magazine asked Ike "if you could give us an example of a major idea of his that you had adopted ..." and the President replied "If you give me a week, I might think of one." The Sabin polio vaccine, designed by Dr. Albert Sabin to be taken orally rather than the polio shots developed by Dr. Jonas Salk, was announced as "suitable for use in the United States" by Surgeon General Leroy E. Burney. The "coldest temperature recorded on Earth" was measured at the −88.3 °C (−126.9 °F) at the Soviet Vostok Station. The current record low is −89.2 °C (−129 °F), recorded at the same station on July 21, 1983.......The 1960 Summer Olympics opened in Rome, with a record 5,348 athletes from 83 nations competing. Giancarlo Peris lit the Olympic flame after Italy's President Giovanni Gronchi declared the Games of the 17th Olympiad open. Competition continued until September 11… Axe Handle Saturday": Racial tensions in Jacksonville, Florida, came to a head as 200 white men armed with baseball bats and axe handles attacked protesters conducting sit-ins at Hemming Plaza In Philadelphia the Phillies go on a record losing streak…..in Wilkes Barre City Council grants permits for a Labor Day event and fifty eight years ago this week, the number one song in LuLac land and America was “Volare” by Bobby Rydell.

Trump is getting crazier by the day. It would be so much better if he had the slightest interest in learning at least a bit about the many subjects of which he is profoundly ignorant.

I'm sick of Trump supporters point to the stock market as some kind of proof of "winning". First off the stock market is a terrible indicator of economic health. What people should be focusing on are wages, which have been stagnant. Second, the strong stock market is partly due to the massive corporate tax cut allowing corporations to engage in massive stock buy-backs, which helps no one (except corporate executives). If folks love Trump so much they should try living in Russia to see what living in a sleazy mafia authoritarian state is like, where there is no free press, elections are shams and most people are miserable. I am very embarrassed that NEPA has become this bastion of support for this pathetic traitor.

"Numbskulls" ?????????????
Of course they are!!!!!!!!! The folks of this region are why the catholic cult continues to survive. They will not allow their faith to be shaken in the face of horrible crimes against children, what makes you think they will deny the false promises of their newest savior?

They often say we don't see our truest flaws in others. It is a trait of which you are guilty. Decades, if not centuries, of pedophilia is being exposed, yet you defend and give blind support and devotion to catholic dogma. You cast aside the facts of an institution corrupt beyond compare, a corruption that has spanned hundreds of years, a corruption who continued exposure is denied. you support the institution that has destroyed many lives With little hesitation and the zeal of ignorant devotion, you support the institution that has destroyed many lives. Yet, you question the same misguided beliefs of those who worship at the feet of a political prophet, one who has offered hope, and given glimpses, of a different type of salvation.

You don't see it, but you have lost your way, much as they have lost theirs. Yet you continue to judge, you continue to not only throw a first stone, you continue to throw many, all the while supporting those who have done far worse than Trump.

You are what you criticize. You are what you condemn. You are no better, and perhaps, are far more evil than the "numbskulls," who must include Sue Henry, you hold in such low regard.

IN RESPONSE

Who the **ck has done worse than Trump in terms of government service? Name them!

The catholic cult is ruled from a city-state, which is its own country. Hence, the catholic church is a government. Their corruption eclipses politics and government. The harm they have caused and continue to cause dwarfs that of the current idiot occupying the oval office. Hell, taken in its entirety, they have caused more harm to more people than the brief reign of Stalin.

I know a farmer who received over $100,000 in federal aide through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (stimulus money)to make environmental improvements on his farm - thanks to Barack Obama and the democratic congress. He now has a huge Trump banner stretched across his barn. So typical of those hypocritical Trump supporters.
