Justin Behrens, twice a candidate for State representative has been named the new Chairman of the Luzerne County GOP. The Times Leader reported that Behrens, 40, of Wright Township, said he looks forward, with the help of the Luzerne County Executive Committee, to develop the county’s GOP base through a strong grassroots effort.
“I especially intend to work with all Republican candidates and assist them any way possible,” Behrens said. “Following the core beliefs of my upbringing, I will always focus on electing Republican candidates, while never sacrificing civility or truth in achieving our goals.”
Behrens replaces Ron Ferrance, who resigned in early November.
Currently, there are 106,237 Democrats registered to vote in the county, compared to 76,226 Republicans, though the number of Republicans has gone up over the last two years.
Val DiGiorgio, chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, was in Luzerne County to meet with Northeastern Pennsylvania Republican leaders and elected officials to let them know what the state organization is planning.
”I was also happy to congratulate new Luzerne County Republican Chairman Justin Behrens on his recent election,” DiGiorgio said. “Justin has been a strong Republican candidate in the past and I look forward to working closely with him toward building on a strong Republican base in Luzerne County.”
Behrens ran against state Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Newport Township, in November, losing his bid for the 119th Legislative District seat by just over 1,000 votes.
During the campaign, Behrens said he would always put people before partisan politics, and he would work to find solutions that ensure government works for people, not the politicians.
“I have always lived by the principle of public service over self-service as a social worker and veteran,” Behrens said before the election. “I will work tirelessly for common sense policies that aid our families and seniors. There has to be compromise, but I understand that people can’t just keep paying higher taxes for failed projects or politician’s pet projects. Families are forced to cut out wasteful spending when times are tight, and so should the politicians.”
Behrens said he has dedicated his life to public service. Following high school, he joined the Army Reserves and was deployed to Iraq in 2003. Upon returning to the states, Justin was assigned to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as part of the 326th Public Affairs Detachment out of Reading. During his service, he reached the rank of sergeant and held the position of team leader — skills that he said will serve him well as chairman of the Republican Party.
Following his honorable discharge, Behrens went to work in health care. He worked as a patient care tech and pharmacy tech at St. Luke’s Hospital. He has also worked in crisis management, where he assisted mental health clients at their most vulnerable times. Behrens now works as the Director of the Forensic Assertive Community Team at Northeast Counseling Services.
Behrens is passionate, knowledgeable and will go about trying to maintain the rebuilding process in Luzerne County. The man who gave them the most gains though, Donald Trump just might prove to be Behren’s biggest obstacle to success in making the GOP a majority party.
Still Behren's selection will hopefully unify a party that need all of that they can get. Behren's first big task will be to galvanize the party for the County Council Elections and Judgeship opening in 2019.

FICKLE PRESIDENT NOW SAYS NO DEAL
(Photo: Business Insider)
President Trump said Thursday he would not sign a stopgap spending bill unless it includes money to build a wall along the Mexico border, sending large parts of the federal government lurching toward a shutdown on Saturday. Most likely he was watching Fox News and thought, "uh oh...better listen to them!"
His comments came after an emergency meeting with House Republican leaders, where Trump revealed he would reject a measure passed in the Senate the night before. That measure would fund many government agencies through Feb. 8, but it would not include any new money for the border wall.
“I’ve made my position very clear. Any measure that funds the government must include border security,” Trump said in an event at the White House. He added, “Walls work, whether we like it or not. They work better than anything.”
Trump’s comments on Thursday completely overturned the plan GOP leaders were patching together earlier in the day as one of their final acts in the House majority. With no other viable options available, they had hoped to pass a short-term spending bill that would avert a government shutdown set to start just days before Christmas.
So now we see that there is no art of the deal and certainly no deal maker. Just a fickle little man who has no clue. (Washington Post, LuLac)

TRUMP FOUNDATION VACATED

These robber barons have not met since 1999. They essentially raised money for themselves. Now the Trump Foundation is no more.
Trump famously wrote checks to veterans. Yeah from that foundation. Trump even used money from tht foundation to finance his own campaign.
Such a giving man. Huh. Trump remains a model for how not to run things. I can’t wait for those taxes to come out so people will see what a fraud he is.

FLYNN CAN’T WEASEL OUT

It was an incredible thing that happened to General Michael Flynn the other day. This was supposed to be a slam dunk hearing but it turned out to be something else altogether. The GOP lie machine, the Fox News zealots said perhaps Flynn would get help from a Judge appointed by Ronald Reagan. WRONG!
The stunning development means that special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s engagement with Flynn will continue for some months, leaving Flynn to wonder whether he will lose his freedom. Flynn’s attorney requested the delay after the judge’s opinion became apparent, hoping further cooperation with law enforcement would earn the court’s mercy.
From the start, U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan made clear he was infuriated by Flynn’s conduct — both in lying to the FBI while in the White House and in working to advance the interests of the Turkish government while he was a part of Trump’s campaign.
But many are wondering why old Diaper Don has not called Michael Flynn a rat.Watch this piece from MSNBC and wait until you hear Judge Jeanine Pirro's prediction from last Saturday!!!

THE TRUMP INVESTIGATIONS

17 IN  2016 WAS GOOD
17 in 2018....NOT SO GOOD!!!!

Remember when Donald Trump was dispatching 17 Republican candidates in the 2016 primaries? Who would ever think he when elected as President would have 17 investigations into his business dealings, family and administration.
Remember when Trump said that if Hillary were elected she would be under investigation? And the fools who yelled “Lock Her Up” believed him?
Well there might be an Orange jump suit in Diaper Don’s future.
But in the meantime here are those 17 investigations.
1. Investigations by the special counsel: The Russian government's attack on the 2016 election.
2. By the special counsel: The WikiLeaks-Trump connection.
3. By the special counsel: Middle Eastern influence.
4 .By the special counsel: Paul Manafort.
5. By the special counsel: Trump Tower Moscow.
6. Special Counsel. Other contacts with Russia.
7. Special Counsel: Multiple attempts at obstruction of justice.
8. Southern District of New York: The Trump organizations and their finances.
9. US Attorney SDNY: The Inauguration.
10. US Attorney SDNY, where did the money come from from Rebuilding America Trump PAC?
11. SDNY: Foreign lobbying.
12. US Attorney District of Columbia: Maria Butina.
13. US Attorney for the Eastern Ditrict: Internet Agency Research Chief Elena Alekseevna Khusyaynova.
14. US Attorney for EDV Turkish influence.
15. New York Attorney Generals and others : Look into Trump’s taxes.
16. New York and other Attorney Genberals: Trump Foundation.
17. US Attorney Generals: Maryland and D.C. Attorney Generals: subpoenaed Trump business records.
And of all of these were not the result of a witch hunt but by his own ineptness, dishonesty and greed.

The Boston Celtics set an NBA record for most rebounds by a team, in a 150–106 win over the visiting Detroit Pistons. Only 2,046 people turned out to Boston Garden to watch the Christmas Eve game…The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers, 17–13, to win the 1960 NFL championship.

The AFL title game, between the Houston Oilers and the Los Angeles Chargers, would not take place until New Year's Day 1961. After being forced to leave West Germany, The Beatles made a triumphant return to Liverpool, playing at the ballroom at the Litherland town hall. Author Hunter Davies, who wrote the authorized biography of the band, commented that "If it is possible to say that any date was the watershed, this was it. All their development, all their new sounds and new songs, suddenly hit Liverpool that evening. From then on, as far as a devoted fanatical following was concerned, they never looked back…in Pennsylvania Christmas is celebrated at the state Capitol rotunda…in LuLac land communities Christmas is observed by all Christians and fifty eight years ago the number one song in LuLac land and America was a hit that would become an everlasting anthem to young love,. Carole King’s “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” by the Shirelles.

Does this mean we'll be spared the biennial spectacle of Mr. Behrens running unsuccessfully for office?
