VOTER INTIMIDATION IN WILKES-BARRE

From 10am this morning until a little after 3:30pm, the Trump campaign was intimidating voters in Wilkes-Barre city. Spurred on by Bob Bolus, tractor trailers were blocking the Biden tent at the Voting Bureau, honking their horns, causing traffic headaches and just being plain assholes.

But these clowns didn't disappoint because there was Hillary Clinton festooned on one of the trucks. Again, these guys have a hard on for Hillary STILL. No wonder they revert to long guns.  If these guys think this is going to help Trump, they have another thing coming.

October 22nd, 2019

It was a cold, raw, rainy night. Miserable. The rain was heavy and stung when it hit your bare skin.  But there were about 225 people who were on a mission. Thanks to my friends Bill and Paula Vinsko, I was on that track as I drove to Fox Hill Country Club in West Pittston. One year ago, tonight, I met Joe Biden. I had missed meeting him before he was nominated as Vice President in 2008. It was that pesky chemo and cancer situation.

Out of the 20 candidates who already announced, my inclination was to back Biden. Even though I have enormous respect for Hillary Clinton, I thought Biden should have run in ’16. Upon my arrival, the room was full of old friends, renegade family members who had not fallen under the spell of Donald Trump and folks who at this early date, put their money where their mouths were.

I got a seat near the front and was glad I did. The view was remarkable because it gave me an insight into the fallacies that plaque Biden to this very day. Too old, lost it, weak. All those things are all wrong. At the late hour when most of the crowd would be kicking back after dinner (my kickback time is usually 15 minutes before I got  to bed) Biden came out ready to rock. He was on point, focused and as he scanned the crowd, called out those who he knew. He was especially gracious to former First Lady Ellen Casey.

Afterwards when we had the chance to meet him, I watched the interactions. To a restaurant owner, he talked about small business. To a pediatrician, he thanked her profusely for her dedication and work with children. To a former Mayor, he mentioned the struggles cities were having. He was doing two things that his opponent could never do. The first was to empathize. The second is something the late Mayor Jim McNulty used to tell me and Bill Vinsko all the time. It was validation. “People and their concerns and needs want to be validated; want to know they individually are recognized” said the former Scranton Mayor.

When we met a year ago, Biden had little money. I’d say the Fox Hill fundraiser was one of the biggest he had in the east. Now 12 months later, Joe Biden is debating the issues tonight for the Presidency and in my estimation the very survival of honor and decency in this country. Tonight, Joe Biden is set to “validate” the hopes and dreams of every American willing to listen.

When you watch the debate tonight ask yourself this question: Do you want someone who can handle a crisis or cause one? The choice is clear and the eyes of history are on all of us to make the right decision.

76 YEAR OLD VOTES FOR THE FIRST TIME

Wednesday I dropped off my ballot at the Voter Services office. After voting and talking to political wiseman Bob Caruso, we both encountered two women who had  also just voted.  It was a mother and daughter. Susan Millett and her daughter Lisha. The younger voter said, “My mom just voted for the first time” she exclaimed. Caruso was nearly jumping up and down and asked them  if they wanted to pose for a picture. And here they are.

Susan said she was compelled to vote for Biden because she lived in New York and saw first hand what an unethical person Donald Trump was. She never voted before because she felt that maybe it wouldn’t make a different. But when you see a wrong, you try to right it. Thanks to our new friends, Susan and Lisha Millett for helping out.

 WANTED: BIDEN POLL OBSERVERS

With Luzerne and Lackwanna Counties being very important in the battle ground known as Pennsylvania, the Biden campaign is asking for volunteers to be poll observers. For more information, contact Katy Larkin. Her e mail address is katy.larkin@2020victory.com

WANT AN INSTANT FELONY?

Feeling like you want a long vacation? Feeling not appreciated by the wife and kids? Think you wonder what it would be like to just have somebody take care of you 24/7 and have no responsibility whatsoever except just passing time? Well then try screwing around with an election ballot.

That's what Trump supporter Lynn (last name, couldn't care what his first name is) from Forty Fort did. His mom died 6 years ago so he decided to write in her name and have her vote for Diaper Don. The Election Bureau flagged it and now he has an instant felony.

Three hots and a cot! The easiest way to get yourself  felony.

VALENTI PREDICTS TRUMP WILL WIN LUZERNE COUNTY BY 15 POINTS

EDITOR’S NOTE: Joe Valenti asked me for my unbiased and realistic input for the poll he took. Joe has been pretty accurate in predicting the behavior of Luzerne county voters. My agreement  with his prediction is based on realism and not any lack of support for Mr. Biden. Even Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC said Trump will carry Wilkes-Barre. Please do not interpret my thoughts as losing faith in Biden.

Local political analyst and blogger Joe Valenti correctly predicted Donald Trump would beat Hillary Clinton four years ago in Luzerne County with a poll he conducted in the county at that time.

This year he’s making another prediction.  “While I’m not sure how the election will turn out nationally, Trump will again easily carry Luzerne County by 15 points,” Valenti says.

Local blogger and political analyst as well, David Yonki concurs with Valenti’s findings.  “The takeaways tell us that Trump is ahead of Biden by a substantial margin. However, the GOP respondents outnumbered the Democrats in participation.”

Valenti said Yonki is correct.  “Of the respondents, 57% were Republican; 31% were Democrats while 11% were Independents/other.”

Valenti attributes that to voter enthusiasm saying, “something the national polls didn’t take into account four years ago.”

He says he also took that into consideration noting “Obviously Democrats outnumber in the county and that was factored into the final formula.”

The poll was randomly presented to approximately 14,000 through various online and social platforms.  Valenti said, “While my social profile, followers and friends may lean to the right, no one was aware the poll was being conducted.  I wanted to present it to potential participants completely randomly and objectively.”

One of the questions asked was – who did you vote for in 2016?  Yonki observed Trump lost support among Democrats saying, “There seemed to be a decline in the Democrats who supported Trump in ’16 but an uptick in Independents for him who responded.”

Valenti believes polling has changed over the past two decades, “Pollsters seem to be using the same methodology of those sampled 20 years as they are today.”

“For example,” Valenti claims, “polling strictly by phone is completely outdated and skewed.  Today, while some still may have a landline, someone answering that landline is quite challenging for the pollster.”

He also says pollsters are paid by the response and that skews the result as well.  “Pollsters these days are paid for the number of respondents,” Valent says.  “They have a database of those who have answered polls in the past.  Consequently, those who have answered in the past, are the same ones the pollsters are targeting.”

Valenti continued, “ask yourself, ‘have you ever gotten polled?’  However, I always participate and get contacted numerous times during an election cycle.”

Another factor Valenti feels contributes to the accuracy of polls is the length of poll and most polls are filled with loaded questions.

“Many pollsters have one on the phone way too long with way too many questions.  It can range anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes which in today’s environment, no one has the time to complete.”

Valenti feels most pollsters ask loaded questions as well saying, “The way a question is presented affects the outcome.”  He used this absurd example to show how a poll can be skewed “Considering X candidate is an axe murder and Y has found a cure for cancer, who are you most likely to vote for?”

The poll was presented randomly to 14,000 the day after Biden and Trump debated and ran for five consecutive days.  Of those 14,000, 400 responded.

Below is of David Yonki’s full response and analysis of Valenti’s findings

David Yonki, from the LuLac Political said this about Valenti’s polling. “Like all polls they are a snapshot of what people are thinking at any given time. However, unlike national polls, this is a concentrated look at a County that essentially gave the White House to Donald Trump in 2016. The takeaways tell us that Trump is ahead of Biden by a substantial margin. However; the GOP respondents outnumbered the Democrats in participation. There seemed to be a decline in the Democrats who supported Trump in ’16 but an uptick in Independents for him who responded. The percentage of people who are going to vote is very close to 100% so that tells us the respondents are pretty much committed to voting and are locked into their choices. If you look at response rate regarding party, you’ll see Trump has the edge in enthusiasm. That stated, Trump’s margin in Luzerne County will not be the same a 2016. The reasons for that will be Democratic voters who became disenchanted with Trump returned to the fold and the Luzerne County Democratic Party with new leadership has energized their base. I’m looking at Trump carrying the county by 15,000 this time around vs. the 26,000 he got last time.  It’ll will be a win but let’s not forget he only won the state by 44,000 votes and if Biden makes inroads into other counties, even if Trump carries them, he might not carry the state.”

“Valenti was spot on in 2016 and even with national news outlets saying Trump is behind, the picture the poll paints in this cycle is accurate given the attitudes and the beliefs of people in Luzerne County.

WHY CARTWRIGHT AND BIDEN NEED TO BE ELECTED TOGETHER

Our friend John Zubris feels very strongly that the Biden campaign should partner more with Congressman Matt Cartwright. Zubris went to Jill Biden’s event to make his case. He explained that young people need to support Biden and Democrats like Cartwright because the middle class will be helped more in the long run. Many young voters are sometimes seduced by the Trump legend which is built on lies, debt and skullduggery. Zubris is concerned younger college age people will not find work under Trump.

In the final days, you’ll be seeing more people think this way. Most people would rather have their Congressman stand with this guy.

BUT Cartwright’s opponent stands with this guy. indicted Steve Bannon.
You, like John Zubris….should pick the one who will stnd with YOU!

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION LOSES THE KIDS THEY LOCKED UP!!!!!!!!!!!

From Heather Cox Richardson:  "Just why this election is so important received powerful illustration tonight. In 2017, the Trump administration began a pilot program to deter refugees from coming to America by taking away migrants’ children. It broke up more than 1000 families. The next year, the program became official, and the administration forcibly removed more than 2,800 children from their parents in May and June of that year. Most of those families were still in custody when a federal judge ordered the program stopped and the families reunited. Today NBC broke the story that lawyers appointed to identify the separated families have not been able to find the parents of 545 of the children, and that the administration actually deported about two-thirds of those parents during the pilot program while keeping their children behind. Those children are now in America with relatives or foster families."

With seven days left before election day in the United States, U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former California Governor Ronald Reagan met in Cleveland for their only presidential debate. An estimated 80,600,000 U.S. viewers turned into watch the showdown, a record not exceeded until 2016. After Carter asserted that Governor Reagan opposed national health insurance, Reagan's response was "There you go again.", the best-remembered moment of the debate……..

Earlier in the day, U.S. Congressman and future budget director David Stockman spoke before a Rotary Club luncheon in Cassopolis, Michigan, and commented that the Reagan campaign had obtained a copy of President Carter's debate strategy, a matter that received mention in a small-town newspaper, but that would not be revealed until 1983…..In a pivotal election, voters in Jamaica chose a new assembly, bringing an end to the government of Prime Minister Michael Manley and elevating opposition leader Edward Seaga to power as the Caribbean nation's new Prime Minister…….

Canadian Bank robbers Stephen Douglas Reid and Lionel James Wright of The Stopwatch Gang were arrested at a motel cabin at Sedona,  Arizona, near Slide Rock State Park. Reid and Wright were taken into custody, but a third gang member, Patrick Mitchell remained at large. They stole approximately $15 million—mainly in the 1970s and 1980s—from more than 140 banks and other sites across Canada and the United States. The FBI had tracked…..With the banner headline "Goodbye London", the final issue of London's afternoon paper The Evening News was published, closing out the newspaper less than eight months from the 100th anniversary of its founding on July 26, 1881. During the 1930s, it had been the world's largest selling afternoon newspaper, printing 1,700,000 issues daily during its peak. Brooks McCormick, descendant of Cyrus Hall McCormick, stepped down as the chairman of International Harvester's executive committee, ending almost 150 years of his family's active management in the company…..and forty years ago this week the number one song in LuLac land and America was  “He's So Shy” by  The Pointer Sisters.(wikipedia)
