ON THE RADIO

How about Dan Meuser’s latest ad on the airwaves? The Reverend Chuck Gommer who for many years was the pastor at Church of Christ Uniting in Kingston tells us what a good guy Dan is and Jack Sordoni takes to the microphone and also endorses the 10th Congressional GOP contender. These testimonial ads, especially in a primary are good for name recognition and top of mind awareness……In the meantime Chris Hackett has an ad saying that Meuser has contributed money to the Democrats like big bad Ed Rendell (who hasn’t donated money to Big Ed I ask?), the next Vice President or President of the U.S. Hillary Clinton and New York Congressman Charlie Rangel. That’s the funniest line in the ad where it says he’s donated “thousands” to the Committee Chair. It was only $2300.00. Well, two is plural so I guess that’s accurate……Meantime, the big guns are on the radio waves too. Senator Barack Obama’s Presidential campaign today began airing a new radio ad that sets the record straight on Senator Clinton’s false attack ad and decries a textbook Washington politics that has been long on misleading attacks and short on solutions for working families.

Senator Clinton’s ad repeats oft-debunked distortions of Senator Obama’s record on energy reform. In reality, Obama is that candidate who has to stood up to the oil companies – refusing money from their PACs and lobbyists, demanding higher fuel economy standards, and fighting to strip tax breaks for oil giants as they rake in windfall profits.
By contrast Senator Clinton has money from PACs and lobbyists – including the energy industry – than any other candidate, Democrat or Republican.
As President, Obama will take on the oil companies to finally deliver on the promises of energy reform that politicians have been making for decades. Also on the air, Senator Bob Casey did a radio ad for the Obama campaign. The testimonial began running today in most Pennsylvania radio markets.

HIL/ELTON TEAM UP

With the help of Elton John, Senator Clinton raised $250,000 for her campaign in New York on Wednesday night. The English singer, composer and pianist added: "I'm amazed by the misogynistic attitudes of some of the people in this country. And I say to hell with them .... I love you Hillary, I'll be there for you."The cheapest tickets, $125 and $250, sold out quickly, campaign aides said. The other seats were filled by fans paying as much as $2,300, the limit for an individual's contribution to a federal candidate.'This country is worth fighting for'Preceding John on stage were Clinton, her husband, former President Clinton, and their daughter, Chelsea.Hillary Clinton struck a defiant, underdog note in describing her battle against Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois."What I want you to know is I'm still standing, and I believe this country is worth fighting for," the New York senator said, playing off the title of one of John's hits. "So we're taking our campaign to Pennsylvania and all the states that haven't voted." Pennsylvania votes April 22.

HAZLETON DISSED

The other day the Clinton campaign dissed Hazleton Mayr Lou Barletta when they cancelled out on a meeting he set up with them to talk about issues facing his town. On PCN's "Journalist's Roundtable", Philadelphia Sunday Sun's Jerry Mondesire said that the people in Philly weren't that concerned about the 2005 payraise because those residents don't mind Legislators having brand new cars and eating in expensive restaurants. By contrast he said, he told a statewide TV audience he went to Hazleton last summer and "couldn't find a clean restaurant!" Now the Clinton people disrespected a fellow politico of the opposite party but this guy savaged an entire town! Yikes!
