NEVER SPEAK TOO SOON

Allen Bellas told the Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority Board that he will quit as authority executive director in a week and a half. Bellas told the board chair that his resignation was in connection with the ongoing federal corruption investigation. Bellas is president of the Wyoming Valley West School Board, but reports are that the “trouble” is with the probe into the Housing Authority. Belas was on TV in the spring and responded adamantly to a reporter’s question regarding the feds talking to him (Bellas). Bellas said no. No one knows what the fallout on this is going to bring but Bellas’ wife Nancy McGinley Bellas is running for Luzerne County Prothnotary on the Democratic ticket. And all of that spells TROUBLE.

NOT A DONE DEAL

The dynamics of the State Budget agreement continue to slow things down. House Democrats, may lack the votes to push the agreed-upon $27.9 billion proposal through their chamber. They continue to look for ways to adjust the bill, according to House insiders. Meanwhile, House GOP leaders say most of their members oppose the plan that was hammered out by the other three legislative caucuses. The Democrats hold a slim 104-99 majority in the House, so any significant dissension or desertion from the Dems might kill the bill and for that matter the budget. In an ironic twist, the House GOP might control the destiny of the budget after all if the new leadership of McCall and Eachus can't control all of their membership. An added component is that this bill will be a true leadership test of Speaker McCall and Leader Eachus and determine their future roles in the House hierarchy.

With unemployment so high in this area, isn't it a shame that one guy and one family has so many jobs. I'm not crazy about Carolee but I'm voting for her. This inbred crap has to stop.

The Democratic party structure really is terrible. Think about it, they allow a woman to run in the primary who has numerous political connections in a year when that is frowned upon in a federal way. I think one of your previous posters is correct, the GOP is running the Dems. Nobody can be this dumb. The old Democratic political bosses Doc Dorris, Joe Tirpak, Marty Murray, spinning in their graves.

The Dems might not be able to pass this budget in the state House. That's how tight the margin is and if the GOP holds firm, that will not be a good showing for McCall and local Lu guy Eachus.

Walter cleans up nice? Is that a shot at the mechanic looking for a white collar job? I understand theposition calls fsor more than soap and water.

Carolee, isn't she the county official who spent taxpayer money on new carpeting because she didn't like the color in her office? I think she is also the county official who purchased computerized cash registers that were not compatible with her office computer system. Right, vote for her anyway! Is it any wonder the county is where it is? A mechanic for Controller and a Divorced and remarried woman who continues to play off her first husband's name. Better keep the Pink Pig in the county trough, looks like the votes have filled the feed bag again.

I would love to vote for Carolee, but there is just something holding me back. I will probably vote for neither...

Anon 6:53, Interesting thought, how about we write in the Pink Pig?

Here is my take on it. I don't care what a person's family does or does not do. If Nancy McGinley Bellas had a family full of dim wits or Einstein's, what difference does it make? Nancy Bellas is a person, a whole person, an independent person and she is not the sum of her family. Why should she be judged because of her husband? He isn't even a blood relation, it is a legal relationship that could end tomorrow. Is there anyway possible that the small brains of WILK radio, namely Sue Henry and Steve Corbett can be stopped from swaying public opinion based on their own personal bigotry? When will people wake up? No, I am not voting for Carolee Medico etc., I'm voting for Nancy Bellas. If she is as good at being the Prothonotary as her brother Michael is at being a School Director, we will be off to a good start. Michael has not been tarnished and even if he had been, Nancy is not her brother's keeper.

As I have been saying for months, Carolee wins.

Anon 8:55 Bravo! How do we get that posting to every voter with a brain?

Gort, the smart money goes with you but the smart voter goes with Nancy. Money usually wins!

Anon 6:25 Isn't it a shame that history continues to repeat itself? Knowing how Carolee was off the wall while in office, people are hell bent on sending her back. Nancy Bellas has never had a bad word utterd about her and she is the underdog in a Democrat majority county. Small minds but a big county. When my daughter moved out of the area 3 years ago, I did ask her to reconsider her move and stay but now I'm thinking of joining her. 2 3/4 years to retire and I have no doubt I'm out of here. I can't wait.
