BILL IN TOWN

Evie Refalko McNulty sent this e mail missive last week:
I hope you are all enjoying the heat. The "Big Guy" is coming to town to get up fired up for the Sestak for Senate Campaign. I hope you are able to attend. If you are interested in working on the campaign please give the campaign a call.
Congressman Joe Sestak for US Senate will host a Kick-Off Rally with the "BIG GUY"
President Bill Clinton, Tuesday, August 10th, 2:00 PM at Scranton High School
(there will be plenty of parking available on site).
Please RSVP if you are planning to attend the event by calling 983-2280.

Presumably, Clinton will be focusing on Sestak's qualifications to be a U.S. Senator and nothing else. Alas, the former President will not be available for career counseling in the federal government for any of the region's unemployed.

Unfortunately, Toomey will defeat Sestak. It is just a bad year for the Dems. Even if the economy began to bounce back now, it is too late.
I fault the Dems for being cowards. They could have done so much with the past two years, such as passing Health Care with the public option. ALas, they wimped out for fear of the electorate. Fact is, many of those same Senators who wimped out on the P.O. are going to be defeated in the Fall anyhow (i.e. Ms. Lincoln, of Arkansas).
What truly frightens me, however, is the quality of Republican that will take the helm of power. These folks aren't your father's GOP. There are no more Ev Dirksens or Hugh Scotts in the GOP. Hell, the way the party is swung to the right nowadays, I'd settle for a Phil Gramm!
I have a slight hope that the Dems will retain both houses, but it grows thinner everyday, especially with the advent of the Rangel and Waters scandals.
As always, we'll survive, I assume. God Bless.

Patricia Neal, One of the Sexiest,
Classiest Ladies ever. She still makes the "Fountainhead" worth watching and she was one tough, beauty in real life where she got more thrown at her than most! As to Acting, check out "Hud" and watch her get the best of Paul Newman.
