THE D.A.’s RACE
In forty eight hours we will see the effects of the large outlaying of money by the Republican party in the Luzerne County District Attorney’s race. The race pits newcomer Stefanie Salavantis vs incumbent DA Jackie Musto Carroll. Salavantis has charged that Musto Carroll was asleep at the wheel during the reign of Ciavarella and Conahan and the controversy surrounding the Juvenile Detention Center. Musto Carroll has defended herself saying that the Juvenile cases were sealed and that there was a systematic deception of everyone by the disgraced Judges. Today we are providing two interviews, the first by the Times Leader editorial board of Stefanie Salavantis, the second, The Times Leader interviewed Musto Carroll. Compare and contrast.
HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
Sentencings for former Lackawanna County Commissioners Robert Cordaro and A.J. Munchak have been rescheduled by Senior U.S. District Judge A. Richard Caputo for 10 a.m. Jan. 30 in the federal courthouse in Scranton.
Cordaro's new lawyer Peter Goldberger has until Jan. 6 to file court papers arguing against a 30-year to life prison sentence recommended by the government, as does Munchak who faces the possibility of decades in prison. Both men were convicted of corruption charges at a trial in June. (Times Leader).
EXETER POLITICO DIES
Daniel A. DeRoberto of Exeter died Friday, in Hospice Community Care at Geisinger. A graduate of Exeter High School, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Exeter Borough Council for 26 years and also held a seat on the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority. DeRoberto was involved in various civic organization in his town. He was 72.

Why would I vote for a kid with no experience for DA?
I voted for three Republicans in my life. One got caught strangling his bimbo and the other two are going away for a long time. I wont make that mistake again.

The Republican money is from Atty Bruce Phillips and his associate Atty Rogers who also owns the company that took over the county tax claim office. Just another contribution to the underemployed. Workers went from being county employees with a decent (not great) wage and benefits to minimum wage jobs while Rogers walks away with big bucks and no labor on his part. Both can afford to finance the Aalavantis campaign. edited
9:28..wow, the words "Vested Intrest" comes to mind...it all makes sense now. Phillips and Rogers picks a inexperince 28 yr old, because its easier to control her for their own means.
DA Carroll when you win you SHOULD look at that tax clam deal! You know that rogers ,maryann and Skrip were best buds ! It's worth a good LOOK! O but not by you call your good friands the F.B.I !!!! Thanks for all you do for the people of Luzerne County!!!!
Little Stefie should try working as a Public Defender for experience. She is "TOTALLY" unqualified for the job as DA of Luzerne County. I'd bet she is totally unqualified for most anything except being a pampered "little brat"!
The 29 year old should ask Mommy and Daddy for another Christmas present cause this ani't happening!
