MAYBE I’M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that the Wilkes Barre Area School Board’s payments to Solicitor Anthony Lupas went from $55,979 in 2008 to $328,956 in 2011. That’s an increase of $272,977 in four years! Where is the litigation? Where are the bills? Equally amazing to me is the fact that the District Business Manger, Leonard Przywara got around to telling the Superintendent Jeff Namey that the legal fees were way over budget just a few months ago. More amazing is the fact that Lupas and his second in command, Raymond Wendolski were not working on a contract basis. Just a wink and a nod. That’s disgraceful for the second biggest school district in Luzerne Coiunty. It’s time for all of them to go.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that Governor Tom Corbett led MSNBC’s news tonight with his directive on women getting those ultra sounds. Look away the Guv implores. Ah, remember the good old days when Tom Ridge and Ed Rendell made the Cable News shows to talk about education or the economy.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that Bob Mellow’s plea was almost downplayed by the U.S. Attorney. There wasn’t the chest thumping going on that a full blown trial conviction got but it is totally understandable. When the history of the federal involvement into LuLac land is written, the work of the U.S. Attorney’s office will go down as the most productive and significant in any era.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that Rush Limbaugh is saying he’s winning the PR war in this debate he started with Sandra Fluke. Rush is ignoring the fact that he lost sponsors. You have to give him credit, he is storming those beaches and hitting it hard.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that in all of the news clips I have seen about Mitt Romney, he has not uttered the words I have heard every politician in my life time say, “I need your help”. Or “please help me help you”, or “I can’t do this without you."
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that I’m agreeing with Donald Trump on the issue of Afghanistan. It’s time to get out. Take all on the ground troops out and just pound them into oblivion with air strikes. You can’t resurrect a terrorist network when you have bombs coming at you every 6 hours.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that brain waves, even mine can power an electric train.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that the allies are now lining up behind Tony Lupas. Oh he has a head injury and can’t remember. Oh he thought he was doing a good thing for people. Oh, he was paying people right up until he got hurt. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that two Lackawanna County representatives not only joined the Republican war on women in Pennsylvania but actually co sponsored the bill which would mandate transvagninal ultrasounds for any woman seeking an abortion. AND THEY'RE BOTH DEMOCRATS!!! Ken Smith who represents the 112th and Sid Michaels Kavulich of the 114th dropped their co sponsorship of the bill. This only leads me to believe that both were being lured by GOP special interests or that they were just too damn lazy to read the bill. Smith has already exhibited his lack of regard and respect for people in his district by not paying his bills and avoiding any type of media scrutiny of it. Sid is rapidly catching up in the contest to be the most tone deaf legislator from Lackawanna County with these actions. Incredible.
The late Don Mincher. I had about 19 of these cards during the '64 season!!!
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that former Minnesota Twin Don Mincher passed away the other day. Mincher carried the 1965 Twins on his back when Harmon Killibrew went down with an injury. He finally got his World Series ring in his last season when he played for the Oakland A’s. Mincher was the guy you always got two of on any given day when you bought two packs of Topps bubble gum cards. We all pined for the Clemente, the Mays, the Maris, the Drysdale, the Koufax, the Mantle. We rarely got one of them in any of the packs but we always had more Don Minchers in our stash than was necessary.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that the Wilkes Barre Area School Board voted 7 to 2 to freeze the legal bills for the district until the forensic audit is performed. Assistant Solicitor Wendolski said he had 6 kids and couldn’t work for free. But the past few years he wasn’t working for free was he? I’d tell that guy to hit the highway. Fast. It is obvious that he cares more about the salary than the students and the taxpayers he is serving in the District.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……..that since 2009, 58% of NFL players donated campaign money to GOP candidates.

Just an additional one for you Yonki ... Maybe I'm Amazed that now the Pope has own person cologne fragrance. Wow! what has the Catholic {not Christian} sect come to? At least he'll smell good AND look so dapper in his Prada shoes!

Students,
When it comes to Atty. Lupas, it is true that some have lost money and have had more than their share of "sour plums' as a result of his inept business practices. Yet, if true that his mental capacity has been compromised and was the cause of this financial calamity, then he should be forgiven. Restitution for his deeds can be made but prison time would be inhumane.
The business of this classroom goes forward...
Students,
The most sacred act that a woman can perform is the birth of a child. After all, that is her true purpose on Earth. Giving birth and raising of children until they are old enough to be on thier own...whereas the process continues. Such is the circle of life. It is indeed, one of God's miracles.
THe act of abortion is an Obamanation. When the Supreme Court overturned R v Wade it was a travesty of justice.
For over a generation good hearted Christian americans have attempted to save the lives of the unborn. Progress is slow; measured in inches and feet, not miles. Progress is being made and thanks to many of our nations Republican Governors that progress is attaining the speed of a wildfire!
If a woman is foolish enough to become impregnated...then she should have to bear the consequences.
To all the females in this classroom I urge you to take responsiblity for the body God gave you and practice abstinence. Just because cute boy johnny wants a little romance is no excuse to break your bond of chastity. After all, will he really respect you in the morning????
I notice from the bland look on the female students faces that they have already been down this road. SHould I have been surprised?
Not to mention the chances of you being able to maintain a decent income after little Johnny flies the coupe are so slim that you will become a tax eater instead of a tax payer.
So, youngsters, despite liberal preaching, basic morality and government do have their place in the grand scheme of things.
Yet, if we must choose between more welfare for the slacker and less abortions I must side with the latter.
Life is precious--and sometimes even worth a few more tax dollars. I look forward to the day--and that day will come, when abortion is once again deemed outright murder. And then all of the loose immoral women will finally take some responsibility because a roll in the hay in exchange for a prison cell as opposed to abstinence until marriage is not a tough choice. Not even for a young harlet.
Something to think about this morning....
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, memories of Don Mincher. Yes for whatever reason Topps always had a plethora of Mincher cards and very, very, very few Stan Musials.

Bobby the “C” moved again!
Still think the Otisville story is bogus!
When he does get settled, its gonna be a long time with no outside time.
He thought he was on his way to Fort Knox, but ended up at Fort Dix.

okey dokey professor whoever the heck you are. let's berate those immoral women who were foolish enough to get impregnated. i mean they are truly miraculous since they obviously got that way on their own. no men were involved, right? or maybe men have no responsibility in the whole thing because they have uncontrollable urges, after all. Women can't win in this situation. When men can get pregnant then we'll see how the world feels about abortion. Until then, why don't you stick to subjects on which you might be qualified to spew forth wisdom.

When it comes to Atty. Lupas, let's see when he started "investing" his friends' money. If it was before he suffered the injury that has been hinted at but not spoken out loud, then the injury may be irrelevant. Forgiveness? maybe, but that doesn't absolve his guilt. Restitution isn't enough if the injury didn't play a role. I find it interesting that if the injury was involved in his actions, that his family chose not to pay deal quietly with the issues, but to report his actions to the authorities. Something is a little bit off about the entire affair.

We saw you on Topic A tonight. You had a lot of stones to wear that suit. What were you thinking when you bought it?
After hearing and seeing you and Tarone tonight, I think it's fair to say that both of you will not be working for the WB Area School Board anytime soon.

I figure 9:22 to be female, mid to late 20's and a full-blown product of parents born in the late 70's who bought the entire Yascar's Farm manure: Schooled in an educational system focused on responsibility avoidance and fuzzy math, traveling down roads without guardrails, raising children with helmets and no sense of worth.

11;21 why you would think that? Sorry to disappoint but you are wrong on all counts. you know what they say about the word assume.

Yonk, I appreciate your policy of posting what comes your way but I think religious comments should be refused. I'm not interested in what "Once a Catholic" has to say about religion. He/she is what he/she is and I'm not at all interested in anyone's opinion on Church or God. You guard against certain words so how about a lil' bit more respect for religion?
