Our “Maybe I’m Amazed” logo.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……..that in a recent poll Mitt Romney actually comes out ahead of Barack Obama among women. Now given the past week in Charlotte that may change but it is telling. Could there be a Silent Majority among women in this country that are tired of being preached to by other women? Personally I am astounded that given the results of this poll, there isn’t an understanding that this ticket might turn the clock back on women’s issues. That said, it is important to keep in mind that many GOP icons, like Ronald Reagan had opportunities to change Roe Vs. Wade and did not. Still the poll is surprising.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that the Baltimore Orioles are tied for first place with the New York Yankees. The Orioles have not been in contention since 1997 and have a very small payroll compared to the Bronx Bombers. Growing up, the O’s were always competitive even though they only won a single World Series in the 70s under Earl Weaver. It is good to see them competitive again under the old Yankee skipper Buck Showalter. And in that division, let us not forget the Tampa Bay Rays. Sports Illustrated recently called Joe Madon the most underrated manager in the big leagues. Have to respect and like the Rays.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…………that people in the media and even in the country still don’t get the political value of Joe Biden. The “scrappy kid from Scranton” is a unique orator and story teller. He relates his own upbringing to what people are going through in this country. There are the gaffes and the mistakes but I believe they come from his near misses with death in the early 90s due to health issues. He’s still here and whether he gets under the skin of the President’s staff or even the general public, well he doesn’t seem to care. Which is kind of charming in and of itself.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…………..that I’m not just getting the fact that 29 months of solid job growth is a bad thing. When President Obama took office in 2009, things were at a standstill and we lost hundreds of thousands of job in January alone. Explain to me how net gains are dismissed as not being enough when we were circling the drain three years ago.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…………..that my Facebook friends came after the late Teddy Kennedy and former President Bill Clinton for their inappropriate relationships with women. They might have been cads but on women’s policy issues both men were innovators and leaders. I guess the GOP needs to bash husbands who stray a little (or a lot) while they try to defend the toe tapping actions of former Senator Larry Craig and Florida Congressman Mark Foley. I’d take “boys will be boys” any day over “boys harassing boys”.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED………………………..that on average, a strawberry has over 200 seeds on it.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……………..that once again the Hugo Selinsky murder trial is again put on hold. His lawyers are appealing the legality of the trial, citing a state law requiring prosecutors to bring all related crimes to trial at once. Hold it! Who has been delaying this trial? HUGO!!!!!!!!! Dave Lupas was ready to go to trial, Jackie Musto Carroll was ready to go to trial and so was Stefanie Salavantis. Three DA’s in 10 years were ready! And now he is citing a state law that says he needed to be brought to trial sooner? I have a better idea. Release him right now. Have the Prison guards take him to the Baumgartner Sports Complex in Tunkhannock. Release him on the pitcher’s mound and have the relatives of Tammy Fasset and Michael Kerkowski greet him there with an array of firearms. The Hugo Trial reminds me of what my father used to say about the Cross Valley Expressway in the 60s. He used to say it won’t be finished in y lifetime”. I’m starting to feel the same way about this trial.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……..but not really that a lawsuit has been filed against the Darden Company. They own Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse. They are being sued for underpaying food servers since 2009. This only proves what I always said about big business. When they have a chance to cut corners, they do it on the backs of the people “on their team”, the very lifeblood of their business, the workers. As Gomer Pyle used to say “Surprise, surprise!”
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…………..that Manhattan Island used to be home to as many animal species as Yellowstone National Park.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…………….that it is 46 years ago today that Star Trek first went on the air. If you were on Google today, you saw a cute representative tribute to the anniversary. Try to click on it and you'll get a neat surprise.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….at the speech given by former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm on Thursday night. She was more than energetic and was well, with all due respect just crazed for her state and party. Most of the time she has been firm but subdued. But not last night. Those Canadian women really become more fun once they get to run a state “in the states”.

The country needs to net a certain amount of jobs to break even... believe or not. Anything less than that is unhealthy for the economy.

Yonk, I don't buy that poll at all concerning ROmney outpolling Obama with women. Nearly every other poll gives Obama a 15 to 20 pt. edge.
I would love to hear how the questions were presented to these women and perhaps is it possible the pollster only contacted Phyllis Shlaffly and her gal pals?????
In short, its BS.
Bless You.

Teddy was a drunk who came from a crooked family, cheated at Harvard and got caught, cheated on his wife and got caught and killed an innocent girl and immediately went into cover up protect myself mode probably before she was dead!
He got reelected because the people of his state didnt have the good sense to boot him out and suffered from Catholic Kennedy Syndrome. He was a fraud and a phoney like all the Kennedys and yet you keep trying to insist he was a great man. Whatever good he may have done was in his own self interest. He came late to the health care issue and had no respect for women whatsoever!
I guess you could call this a strong dissenting opinion, but every time I hear the Kennedys referred to as American Royality I get pissed off!
Ted was number three in a line of brothers, the son of a bandit bootlegger, who fooled many Americans for a long time.
You write as if Ted was Abe Lincoln. He wasnt even a good man let alone a great one!

I'm amazed that liberals think that every woman must believe that murdering babies prior to their birth is a woman's issue and that it the most important woman's issue out there.
Woman can't believe in low taxation or limited government. Nope the only thing that should matter to a woman is her right to have blades shoved up her vaginal canal and chop a small baby into bits and then suck it out into a vacuum canister.

After almost 10 years without a raise, my company finally gave out a 1% raise to it's employees. I'm amazed the people actually went positively crazy with joy. I spent my whole raise on a new roll of toilet paper.

Good morning Students,
I must say that I take great exception to Mr. Yonki's commentary regarding the supposed hypocricy of the GOP regarding "their" sexual scandals and the Democratic scandals.

Respectfully, young man, you are wrong....
Let's look at the record....
When Cong. Foley was accused of his inappropriate behavior, Republican leaders immediately moved for him to leave. The same can be said of Sen. Craig. I do not endorse the actions of either man and they did in fact resign. I do not see any double standard here.
When Democratic politicians, dating back to Gerry Studds who by the way had a series of homosexual liasons with an underage congressional page was outed, not a single Democratic leader called for his dismissal. In fact, sadly, Studds was merely censured and sadly, remained in his congressional seat and was re-elected. So much for the morality of his district.
The same thing can be said of a host of Democratic politicians. None were ever cajoled by their party to leave when exposed.
IN short, students, when it comes to sex scandals no political party is immune.
THe difference lies in how the perpetrators respective party reacts to the scandals.
The GOP immediately seeks to remove theirs...but the Dems, as the song by the Communist leaning Bruce Springsteen, which was played at the end of Obama's speech the other night, "Takes care of their own". REgardless of the offense.
Something to think about this morning.....
WIth all due apologies to an othewise fine student, Mr. Yonki, this time you garner your first failing grade!! PLease young man, do, as you have in the past, your research!!!
Class dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the government should have no say in what a woman puts in, or takes out, of her vagina. That's totally up to her. Just saying.

Perhaps a few pro-life white guys should have sounding rods forced into their urethrae the next time they want their prescription for viagara renewed. Then, we'd see a major shift on how we view both women and medical policy in the United States.

When it comes to Kennedy and Clinton it isn't their policy; it is their actions. Only really stupid women or mysognist men hold them up as strong supporter of women.
The only support they really appreciate from women is the same type an athletic supporter gives; holding their testicles in a (edited) tossing her to that woman to side, or in a stream or out of the oval office when they are done.

Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Ira and George Gershwin, Cole Porter and of course Stephen Foster, all Communists because they wrote about America and its people!
Lets start a blacklist and find a good right wing Senator to make the accusations!

In other news, I'm working the Obama/Democratic table at the Luzerne County Fair. Almost everyone is friendly and welcoming of all political views, even the ones that disagree. Rarely do you have that one guy who takes it too far. However, he emerged out from under his rock today, long enough to share his opinions with me.

A wonderful individual (who appeared as though he got dressed in the dark), stomped his way over to me, and said, "You're a Socialist Fag!", and then flashed a sticker in my face that said "Vote Red" on it (I'm assuming that Red meant Republican). "What do ya think of that!?" He haughtily asked me. "Well," I replied. "Red is actually the official color of socialism. So, thank you for your support, sir."

He stormed off in a huff, but not before passing by me every 15-20 minutes or so, flipping me off nonchalantly by pretending to rub his eye with his middle finger each time he passed me. Was I supposed to not notice that? Clearly, he wasn't a creature of subtlety.

(I should have offered him my bottle of eye drops to help cure his "RED" eye! LOLOLOL! The jokes just write themselves!)

I thought this was funny. Just wanted to share.

Anon 4:20 what is the difference in life at 3 months post conception or 10 months. If a mother decides that a month after the baby is no longer in utero, she can't afford to feed him or her; does she have the right to end the life then?
On day 20 post-implantation the neural system is in tact. On day 21 the cardiovascular system has formed.
Look at ultrasounds of a child in utero, you can make out hands, feet, head, genitalia. A heart beat can be heard. Movement can be detected.
Do you believe that if a person murders a pregnant woman, that person should be charged with double homicide?
Do you believe that eggs of endangered species should be protected, because they are potential life?
Do you believe that a group should be founded to prevent and destroy births based upon eugenics?
