SAUSAGE GATE

There was Iran Contragate, and of course the grand daddy of them all, Watergate. But in Luzerne County it appears we are going to have sausage gate. Controller Walter Griffith has been looking at the spending at the Luzerne County prison and has questioned the fact that sausage is on the menu. Griffith points to the fact that many Muslim prisoners don’t eat pork and wonders why so much was ordered. The Times Leader reported that other items on the menu included including bacon, bagels, cream-cheese packets, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, and red and white grapes, The retiring warden has insisted that prison workers eat the same thing as the prisoners but Griffith seems to be disputing that. Workers used to be able to get lunch for free because they needed to be in the building to cover shifts but County Manager Bob Lawton stopped that after an inquiry for that was called by County Council member Edd Brominski. We’ll keep you posted on the meaty details
Speaker Boehner and President Obama. (White House photo).

ONE ON ONE

Finally President Obama met with Speaker Boehner on this Fiscal Cliff negotiation. This meeting will most likely go a long way in hammering out some sort of consensus. Boehner should remember that very few Americans can tell you who the 44th Speaker of the House was. Obama should remember that this is going to be the cornerstone of his second term. He can build on this as a legacy. These two guys should try just being nice to each other. Borhner should get his ducks in a row and Obama should start paying moire attention to the rank and file Congressional super delegates that gave him his meager victory over Hillary Clinton in 2008. He never would have made those great speeches with those high columns if he didn’t get nominated first. .

I worked in the Lackawanna County Jail system. I had business at the
County Jail. Among the items on the menu at that time was a cheese that would not burn or melt. I saw it tried. I dont know what it was or what it was made from. One thing for sure, the guards didnt eat the jail food and wouldnt even if it was free. Overall the diet was hideous. So was the health care. On the surface the Luzerne County menu looks pretty good.

I'm thinking about challenging Walter in the primary.

Griffith is worried about SAUSAGE??? How about the audits? Where are the audits that are months overdue? What happened to the law firm (s) that have been overcharging us! He's worried about pennies for sausages while the dollars fly out the window! We need a new controller!

I don't give a friggin damn about sausage, what I'm upset about is Walter has now become an advocate for religious rights in prison. What the hell is this guy doing? Who cares what they can or can't eat. Let their Imam or Rabbi bring them proper food but if they don't want to be treated like a criminal, they shouldn't be a criminal. Damn it Walter stop screwing around and do your job. Read the Charter your job is to do the county audits. Get over yourself!

Aggie95, the next time you talk to Walter, ask him if he would consider do his job and get the audits up to date. Maybe ob Morgan or Wil Toole will give him a hand.
