IT’S A WOLF FEST!!

GENETTI'S WILKES BARRE, 3PM

The Tom Wolf for Governor campaign rolled into Luzerne County today and what an exciting day. About 125 people attended a standing room only event at Genetti’s in Downtown Wilkes Barre to hear Tom Wolf the candidate for Governor. But before the event, the crowd was treated to entrainment and words of wisdom from one Jon Bauman, better known as Bowser from Sha Na Na.
Bauman or Bowser struck a pose with the folks at the event
but was very serious, dead serious about his role as spokesman for the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. In his role as Bowser of Sha Na Na, Bauman spoke of what he liked about the 50s which was of course the music. But what he didn’t like was the fact that 35% of older Americans were living in poverty with no safety net. A strong advocate for seniors, Bauman told me he decided to become very involved in the political process after the 2000 election. When I told him that I had never gotten over that election, he confirmed that was also the case with him. But I digress.
Bauman then treated the audience with a little doo wop version of Tom Wolf for Governor but before he did, he wowed the crowd to a performance of the Etude # 3 in E Major, number 10. by Chopin. This is a version of  the piece the Julliard trained Bauman played and below that is a photo of Bauman playing the piece.

Bauman introduced Eddie Day Pashinski who as usual gave a great oratory introduction. I told Eddie this and I mean it, there is no doubt Pashinski is the best off the cuff political speaker since Dan Flood. Below is a photo of Eddie Day Pashinski, your blog editor and Bowser.
Tom Wolf then took the stage and urged the people to not take the polls showing him ahead too seriously. Wolf cautioned that he is a non traditional candidate and that the only goal he sees in sight is November 4th. Wolf made the point that Pennsylvania need to start chest thumping and start telling our stories of positive strengths.Wolf gave the crowd his biographic outline as to why he thinks he should be hired to be the new Governor of the state.
After the brief speech the candidate mingled with the crowd.

Here is a photo that Max Benjamin took after I spoke to Wolf after the speech.

Beverly Jean Johnston, an old radio sales rep colleague of mine had an opportunity to meet Mr. Wolf too.
And Bowser had the chance to speak with WILK's Karel Zubris, he of the award winning Sha Na Na Show and she of the award winning Karel On the Street segment on WILK Radio.

SUSQUEHANNA BREWING COMPANY, JENKINS TOWNSHIP 6:30PM

Later in the evening the Wolf campaign got into full gear with a very successful fundraiser at the Susquehanna Brewing Company. More than 200 people dropped by putting their money where their mouth was in giving the Wolf campaign a boost. I am proud to say that I was one of the sponsors of this event for Mr. Wolf's campaign.
Again Jon “Bowser” Bauman was there front and center. There were a great deal of Wolf supporters who were enjoying a little beer, pizza and music.
Bowser and Mrs. LuLac engaged in a very involved discussion about politics on all levels.
After introductions, Wolf once more the gave the crowd his resume. Along with that, he also spoke about how the state needs to rethink issues like job creation and education. Wolf made the point that job creation must be linked to 21st century education. He outlined his role as a business leader where his employees actually shred in the profits of his company. He declared that was not only the right thing to do but smart business.

Wolf addressing the crowd at the Brewing Company.
After his remarks Wolf worked the crowd as the band played on with a duet from Bowser and State Representative Pashinski.
Pictured at the event were Attorney Tom O'Connell (I met his brother Joe and we have a dandy photo of the two of us in a future edition) there was a party going on so there was Jimmy Dennis keeping things alive, Vince Holland, Jean Furino and Attorney Laura Dennis.

All in all, it was a very successful day and night for the Tom Wolf for Governor campaign. But make no mistake, Wolf supporters left the event from Genetti's as well as the Brewing Company more determined than ever to put the York businessman in the Governor's chair. It'll be a short commute for his Jeep but will take us on a long and successful journey of where this state needs to be but more importantly deserves to be.

I can't believe there isn't a better candidate running than the center-right Tom or the far-right Tom. Freaking Pennsylvania... And so progressives are, as is the case with most elections, politically exiled and forced to hold our noses and vote for one corporate hack over the other once again or just not vote at all. Tom Corbett is evil, Tom Wolf is creepy, and neither one is that much better than the other. Tom Wolf's messiah-like reception among Democratic establishment figures freaks me out... I cannot vote for Corbett (because I have a conscience) but I can't shake the feeling that I'm really, really going to come to regret voting for Tom Wolf to replace him. I'll pass on the kool-aid, thanks.

Hi Dave,
Glad you had good time at the Wolfe events, and congrats on being a sponsor.
Now I have to tune in to WILK and see if Little Stevie Corbett blasts you because of your association with the next Governor.

What do you think is Wolf's adamant reason for not talking to the media? It seems very strange for a man who want the job so badly, to avoid and media questions. Very strange.

I understand you don't like to comment on WILK, but since you were an event sponsor, a former media person, are a local political blogger, and someone who has staged debates, I think these are important questions, and they deserve answers that only someone with your background can actually give some insight.

I saw this on the WILK Facebook page:

"About to play the remarks Tom Wolf made in Wilkes-Barre yesterday that his staff asked me not to record. See what you think. Sue"

So, as a sponsor of an event and this happened at your event, what is your opinion of Sue Henry making and then playing on air a recording, even though she was asked not to?

Is asking a media member not to record remarks the same as saying that remarks are off the record?

And do you think she would have ignored the wishes of the candidate if the rally for a candidate she supported?

I'M AT A LOSS TO EXPLAIN YOUR COMMENT. WOLF HAS APPEARED ON A FEW INTERVIEW SHOWS. I DON'T SPEAK FOR THE CAMPAIGN BUT MY OPINION IS WHEN A CANDIDATE CHARTS A RACE, THEY MAKE A DECISION AS TO HOW TO BRAND IT AND PROMOTE IT.
TO ME THIS IS NOT UNEXPECTED BECAUSE WOLF HAS SAID OVER AND OVER THAT HE IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF CANDIDATE.
PLUS THERE IS SUCH A THING AS BEING SELECTIVE. WOLF HAS TALKED TO PEOPLE AT EVENTS I WAS AT TAKING QUESTIONS, THE MEDIA WAS THERE SO I SEE NOTHING STRANGE IN THAT. IF THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES TO THIS STRATEGY, THAT WILL HAVE TO COME AFTER NOVEMBER 4th.

IT DID NOT HAPPEN AT THAT EVENT. I WAS INVOLVED IN THE EVENING EVENT AT SUSQUEHANNA BREWING. SUE (LOOKING QUITE SMASHING IF I MAY SAY IN A NON HARASSMENT WAY) WAS AT THE AFTERNOON EVENT AT GENETTI'S CALLED "SENIOR VOTES COUNT".
AS FOR HER RUNNING THE TAPE, LAST I LOOKED IT IS FREE COUNTRY. CAMPAIGNS WILL RUN THEIR RALLIES THE WAY THEY WANT TO, JON BAUMAN WAS VERY ACTIVE IN TALKING TO THE MEDIA. BUT THAT SAID, NO POLITICIAN SHOULD HAVE ANY EXPECTATION THAT THE "REQUEST", "RULE", "EDICT", TAKE YOUR PICK WILL BE FOLLOWED. REMEMBER MITT ROMNEY'S PER CENT COMMENT AND THE CURRENT PRESIDENT'S GUNS AND RELIGION COMMENTS? SOMEONE WAS RUNNING TAPE THERE AND I'M SURE THEY HAD MORE PEOPLE MAKING THE REQUEST THERE THAN IN WILKES BARRE. I THINK THE BIGGER STORY WOULD BE IS IF SOMEONE STOPPED HER. I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE CASE WHEN I HEARD MY FRIEND L.A. TARONE WEDNESDAY NIGHT HAVING A CONVULSION. I WAS SO BUSY RUNNING FROM WORK TO GENETTI'S, THEN BACK TO WORK, THEN HOME TO GET MRS. LULAC WHO WAS IN STATE COLLEGE FOR TWO DAYS, THEN BACK TO ANOTHER EVENT I WAS UNAWARE THERE WAS SOUND UNTIL I HEARD IT ON WILK THIS MORNING.
Is asking a media member not to record remarks the same as saying that remarks are off the record?
NO, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OFF THE RECORD WHEN YOU ARE IN A CROWDED BALLROOM. OFF THE RECORD IS NOT HAVING THE QUOTE ATTRIBUTED TO YOU, HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES, BEING TREATED AS A "SOURCE CLOSE TO" OR "A SOURCE TELLS ME". THAT TO ME IS "OFF THE RECORD".
IN MY BRIEF INTERACTIONS WITH MR. WOLF, I HAVE NOT HEARD HIM DODGE A DIRECT QUESTION. BUT I'M A SUPPORTER AND BLOGGER, NOT SOMEONE TRYING TO GET A QUOTE.
And do you think she would have ignored the wishes of the candidate if the rally for a candidate she supported?
NO. SUE IS GOING TO DO HER BEST TO GET THE STORY SHE WAS ASSIGNED TO GET. ASK TWO FELLAS FROM THE LCTA TAKING SCENIC TOURS OF HARRISBURG COURTROOMS.

SERIOUSLY? LOOK I LIVED THROUGH “PROGRESSIVES” SITTING ON THEIR ASSES WHEN HUMPHREY RAN AND WE GOT NIXON. I LIVED THROUGH PROGRESSIVES SAYING AL GORE WAS “TOO WOODEN” AND WE GOT “W”. WHAT IS THERE TO HOLD YOUR NOSE ABOUT WOLF? HE BEAT THREE GOOD CANDIDATES WHO WERE BETTER KNOWN AND HAD PARTY CONNECTIONS. HE HAS PLANS SO DIFFERENT THAN TOM CORBETT THAT I CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU’D RISK A CORBETT WIN.
Tom Corbett is evil, Tom Wolf is creepy, and neither one is that much better than the other.
TOM CORBET IS NOT EVIL. HE HAS PRINCIPLES THAT DO NOT MESH WITH WHAT PENNSYLVANIANS NEED. ISIS IS EVIL, TOM CORBETT IS NOT.
WOLF IS NOT CREEPY, THE GUY FROM E HARMONY.COM IS CREEPY.
Tom Wolf's messiah-like reception among Democratic establishment figures freaks me out...
YOU’RE KIDDING ME RIGHT???? THE “ESTABLISHMENT” IS TRYING TO CATCH UP. HE WON, THEY BACKED BAD HORSES.
I cannot vote for Corbett (because I have a conscience) but I can't shake the feeling that I'm really, really going to come to regret voting for Tom Wolf to replace him.
AGAIN…..WHY ARE MEMBERS OF HIS OWN PARTY DOUBTING CORBETT? WHAT DO YOU THINK WOLF IS GOING TO DO? I HAVE NO EXAMPLES FOR YOUR FEARS.
I CAN’T RESPOND EXCEPT IN WONDERMENT AT THIS COMMENT.
I'll pass on the kool-aid, thanks.
TRY DIET SNAPPLE, LOW SODIUM V8, AQUIFINA OR DIET COKE. THOSE ARE THE BEVERAGES OF CHOICE AT LULAC.

Gotta agree with 12:12. they have a very valid point. You Mr. Yonki, with all due respect, seem totally brainwashed. But, I guess the worst candidate is still Corbett. Again, we always have to settle for the lesser of the two evils.

Agree totally with 12:12! You are so far in Wolf's corner you cant see down the road. There is something Creepy about Wolf. Time will tell.

HAVE YOU MET HIM? DEFINE CREEPY PLEASE.
IS IT SO CREEPY TO ACTUALLY SHARE THE PROFITS FROM YOUR COMPANY WITH YOUR EMPLOYEES INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SCREW THEM?
DO YOU REALIZE THERE ARE COMPANIES IN PENNSYLVANIA REDUCING THE SALARIES OF TENURED EMPLOYEES BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING PAID MORE THAN STARTING MANAGERS? YET PROFITS RISE1 THAT'S CREEPY MY FRIENDS.
Time will tell.
AND THEN YOU CAN THANK ME FOR PROMOTING THIS VERY GOOD MAN. I'LL WAIT.

Dave,
Although nowhere near over the top for Wolf I will probably vote for him. As a man of the same age I do have one question whether others consider it legit or not it is important to me. The lack of military service or any explanation concerns me. It was the height of the War and the draft calls. I know he served in the Peace Corps, but why not the military? An answer would be appreciated. If he interrupted his schooling to join the Corps how did he avoid the draft? He owes those of us who did serve an explanation before he can ask for my vote. Its that simple. An answer for a vote, Tom or Dave.

Tom Wolf will end up screwing you over, Dave. Once he's governor, you can kiss your access goodbye... that nice guy you once knew will be every politician at that point. What's creepy is how over the moon you are for him. If you put him up on so high a pedestal, eventually when your dream crashes down into reality, you'll be hurt and you'll look a fool. You USED to be a guy who would critique and criticize even candidates he supported... You started with that trio of nuts for Luzerne County Council last year, and now with Wolf, you've become a propagandist. You never answered 12:12's very specific and legitimate concerns about Mr. Wolf and it appears as though he or she was a LIBERAL questioning the candidate that we're all told is the "liberal" choice for governor! All you did was spout off Tom Wolf's talking points like a good little marionette.

I HAVE NO ACCESS NOW! DO YOU THINK I’M MEETING HIM AT THE LEMONYNE EXIT EVERY WEDNESDAY AT A DUNKIN’ AND CHATTING ABOUT THE FAMILY? WHERE ARE YOU GETTING THAT???

THIS BLOG WAS NOT AROUND FOR GORE IN 2000 OR RENDELL IN 2002. WHEN I SUPPORT SOMEONE, IT’S TOTAL. SORRY IF THAT’S CREEPY!
You USED to be a guy who would critique and criticize even candidates he supported... You started with that trio of nuts for Luzerne County Council last year,
FILBERT, PECAN AND ALMOND?????
and now with Wolf, you've become a propagandist.
I HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT CORBETT AND HAVE ATTENDED GOP EVENTS. PROPAGANDA IS A WORD YOU’D USE BUT I WOULDN’T.
You never answered 12:12's very specific and legitimate concerns about Mr. Wolf and it appears as though he or she was a LIBERAL questioning the candidate that we're all told is the "liberal" choice for governor!
I WILL REVISIT THAT AND SEE IF I CAN DO BETTER. AS FAR AS THE “LIBERAL” CHOICE, TOM WOLF IS THE DEMOCRATIC CHOICE FOR GOVERNOR.
All you did was spout off Tom Wolf's talking points like a good little marionette.
NOPE, JUST TRIED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION. MARIONETTE? THAT’S GOING BACK SOME!!!!

I’m reading with amusement how people are SHOCKED, SHOCKED that my former co worker Mr. Yonki is solid for Tom Wolf. I tried to listen to Yonki and Tarone but the screeching of Tarone and need of Yonki to rebut everything was just too much to bear. But again to those who know him this should come as no surprise.
I worked with him starting in 2002 at Travelocity may it RIP!!!! Dave loved Ed Rendell and was a huge supporter. So much so that I know he got called into HR a number of times because of it. His cubicle was just inside the entrance to the work area. If you were coming from the lobby you’d see his desk and cubicle. If you entered the work area you were right on top of it.
Yonki would strategically place his blazer across the upper area of the cubicle so that a Rendell button the size o a ham sandwich could be seen by all. Every few weeks he’d get called in and the jacket would recede into the background. But then it would reappear.
The following year, 2003 he showed up at work in a tux and made his way to the Capitol cane and all for the Inauguration.
So let’s not be so shocked that he thinks a lot of Mr. Wolf. He was way over the moon about Fast Eddie.
So Sue Henry…if you think you’re the only bad ass breaking the rules you are incorrect. It was a new job and Yonki pushed that envelope as far as it would go.
