Asked on Monday on Fox, he said "Knowing what we know now," would he have authorized the war. "I would have," he answered.
WithSean Hannity, "I don't know," he said, “when given the chance to restate whether he would have authorized the war. He dismissed the question as a "hypothetical."
As of today the former Florida Governor said this reported by CNN at 6:28PM,"Knowing what we know now, ...I would not have engaged. I would not have gone into Iraq," he said.
These changes present a problem for Bush, something very similar to John Kerry’s declaration of his war stand on Iraq during the 2004 election when he said, "I was for the Iraq war before I was against it" . That was deadly.
Bush’s GOP foes (57 of them it seems jumped on his support of a failed war. I can’t believe he wasn’t prepared to issue one statement on this and stick to it. Even a simple statement like, “I love my brother but he was wrong on this one.” Simple. But he just dug a ditch for himself this week that not only confused people but also questioned his viability as “the candidate” that can win back the White House.
It’s early, this may blow over but you might see a Bush reversal of plans and fortune after this debacle. If he had quoted from his brother’s memoir, he might have had a better week. 'We got things wrong in Iraq, but the cause is eternally right'. The cause?” That from the former President, George W. Bush. He could have talked about the end of a dictator and Democracy in Iraq such as it is.
There might have been some loyalty to his brother going on but running for the Presidency is war. Bush 43 was a casualty in terms of history at least for now. It was the Jeb Bush campaign’s mission to make sure he had a shot at being Bush 45. They and he might have blown it.
So there is some buzz about George Brown’s commercial regarding my name. As I stated in earlier editions, any candidate can pull anything they want off my site. Which Brown’s ad agency did. But they pronounced my name wrong. It seems to be bothering other people more than me.
I’ve had this back and forth since high school days. Make no mistake, my family name is important but if I have to die on a hill for something, it isn’t going to be over the pronunciation of a few vowels.
Barletta released the following statement regarding H.R. 2297, the Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Act of 2015:
“Hezbollah is a known violent terrorist group, backed by Iran, which is a significant threat to the United States and our allies. Before September 11, 2001, Hezbollah was responsible for more American deaths than any other terrorist organization, and they have only grown stronger over time. The bill would require the disclosure of satellite, broadcast, and Internet outlets that provide support to Hezbollah so that they may be identified, monitored, and sanctioned. Additionally, it allows the U.S. government to take steps to stem the flow of financing to Hezbollah from American-based entities. This would hurt Hezbollah in two ways – it would restrict their ability to spread their message of hatred and violence, and hit them in their bank accounts.”
Somewhere Dwight Eisenhower the President who championed the Interstate Highway System must be shaking his head. The recent train accident the other night tells us that there has to be a dedicated fund for infrastructure. I’m sure the fiscal conservatives will bitch and moan but our entire country is deteriorating.
The solution is a dedicated fund that would be spent only for improvements and a plan to fix the roads, trains and transportation systems.
