FLAG DAY 2017
To all those who cherish and fly our flag, and for those who don’t for whatever reason, Happy Flag Day.
Flag day was established in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson. . While Flag Day was celebrated for years after the proclamation, President Truman signed an Act of Congress in 1949 that designated June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.
The day actually started in the previous century when school teachers BJ Cigrand and George Bolch of Wisconsin and New York respectively encouraged his students to observe June 14 as the 'Flag Birthday' and hold ceremonies.
In 1893, Philadelphia Public Schools endorsed a request to hold Flag Day ceremonies in the center of Independence Square. A year later, Philadelphia was followed by Chicago Public Schools.
Pittston had Flag Day ceremonies for a long time but I’m told this year’s event will not be held due to the lack of interest from City officials last year. But other communities are celebrating on this very important day.
Flag Day has become that holiday that has been submerged a bit mainly because only the Federal workers and some members of the political class get it off. Most working Americans do not but that fact should not diminish the respect and honor it deserves.

I want to see the secret health care bill? Want to guess whether it's "mean"?
