@ The Kirby 

Spent an incredible evening at the Kirby last night with a very large contingent of Josh Gates fans. Josh Gates is the host of The Discovery Channel's Expedition: Uknown and Legendary Locations. The Meet and Greet was my anniversary President to Mrs. FB and he was affable and engaging. 

I realized that he was the same guy off and on the screen. 

 His presentation was informative, sometimes comedic, flawless in its pacing and gracious without being fake. Here we are chatting with Mrs. FB's crush. He complimented her on her jewelry and had a quizzical look when he saw my suit. (Yeah,, I was the only guy there in one!) We spoke to a fan who drove in from Connecticut and a few others from out of state. Sometimes we people here in NEPA take venues like the Kirby for granted but to visitors the Kirby is a big deal. 

And there were lines. There was a line for the Meet and Greet, this taken after our own meeting with him. 

Then when the theater doors opened for the show, there was another line for the merch which included hats, signed books, photos and even a signed compass. 

The show began with a 30-minute montage of slides and 40s era music.  When he took the stage, he was a presence. I think he was amazed at the packed house, and you can tell by these photos that this was a high energy performance. After his stories about the stars he's interviewed from McConaughey to Shatner and the places he's been, Cairo to Alaska, heard  an open mic segment where he was funny with adults and kind to little children.

 

What a guy!
