WOMEN SPEAK OUT
SNAP RULE CHANGES
Starting on September 1, 2025, the federal government’s rules on how long certain people can receive SNAP benefits are changing, DHS said.
Certain SNAP recipients will be subject to SNAP work requirements and time limits because of the federal budget bill passed by Congress and signed by President Trump in July.
"Under these new federal rules, to keep or become eligible for SNAP benefits certain people will have to meet SNAP work requirements that include working, volunteering, or participating in an education or training program for at least 20 hours a week (or 80 hours each month) AND report that you are meeting these work requirements," DHS said.
These rules apply to SNAP recipients who:
Are between 18-54 years old
Do not have a dependent child under 18
Are considered physically and mentally able to work
FLORIDA TO VACCINES NO!
Not in our state! Florida is the first state to end “immoral” vaccine mandates for children.
Dr Joseph Ladapo, the state surgeon general, who announced the decision on Wednesday, said that current vaccine requirements were “immoral” intrusions that hampered parents’ ability to make decisions about their own children’s health.
“People have a right to make their own decisions, informed decisions,” said Dr Ladapo, who has frequently clashed with the medical establishment.
Florida is comprised of racists, morons and entitled old MAGAs who think they are the smartest people in the land. In my expedience in business they are the most petulant , ignorant and selfish people in the world.
COGNETTI FOR HOUSE RACE:
“I’M IN”
Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti is announcing her campaign for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 8th District against Republican Congressman Rob Bresnahan.
Officials with Cogentti’s campaign say she is running to “clean up corruption in Washington” and fight for the hardworking people of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Mayor Cognetti stated the following regarding her campaign for Congress:
“Nobody works harder than the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania, and we are tired of corrupt politicians lying to us and leaving us behind. When I first ran for Mayor, I ran as an Independent against a Democratic machine that wanted to keep using city government to benefit themselves. I took on the machine to clean up City Hall, and we got to work, for the people, by cutting red tape, fixing our finances, attracting new businesses, putting more cops on the beat, building new parks, and making real reforms. Now I’m running for Congress to take on a corrupt Washington that has left our community behind while politicians get richer, our costs keep rising, and we get sold out.
Congressman Rob Bresnahan lied when he promised he would ban congressional stock trading, and he lied when he said he would protect access to health care. What’s even worse is that Bresnahan is profiting off our pain, playing the stock market while voting to screw us over in Washington. We won’t sit back as Bresnahan day trades away our future. So I’m running against the machine again to stand up for the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania and make Congress work as hard as they do.”
The Mayor announced early but that door was opened by Matt Cartwright who earlier this year ruled himself out. It can be a two sided sword though because she has opposition on a number of fronts. That stated by annlouncing early she may get a clear path from the party in order to go against Bresnehan.
In Scranton she is opposed by Independent (a Democrat) Gene Barrett, GOPer Trtish Benyon and Rick Little an independent. A note to Democrats in Luzerne County, don't listen to elected officials from The LAC who might have a personal beef with the Mayor. She needs full support from everyone to overcome the Bresnehan money and GOP lie machine. WE cannot afford a second term from this incumbent.
BRESNEHAN RESPONDS
LULAC
RETORTS
Congressman Rob Bresnahan’s camp stated the following on Mayor Cognetti’s congressional announcement:
“Paige Cognetti launching a vanity campaign for Congress while still running for a new term as Scranton Mayor tells you everything you need to know about her priorities.
Define vanity campaign. Did a rookie write this?
Mayor Cognetti is a far-left extremist who has backed a radical agenda, from open borders and eliminating Medicaid to force everyone into government-run health care, to defunding the police, banning fracking, and even supporting taxpayer-funded sex change operations for illegal immigrants. We look forward to putting a spotlight on her extreme and dangerous positions, which are completely out of step with Northeastern Pennsylvania, where President Trump won by nearly 10 points.”
WOW! You didn’t include your lie about her plotting the assassination of JFK!!! Eliminating Medicaid? THAT’S BEEN DONE. Your boy Robb voted for it already. Nowhere there is a vote or comment that she ever said or voted for sex change operations, EVER.
Who the flick wouldn’t want government run health care when the Trump policies will get rid of health care for poor people, one of which Rob is not. Shine a light on your LIES? With gusto.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Rob you should fire the moron who wrote this “vanity” attack on Paige’s announcement.
BRESNAHAN COSPONSORS FAIR WAGE ACT FOR LABOR
Representative Rob Breesnehan (Photo: LuLac archives.)
U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced he cosponsored the Fair Wage Act, to raise the minimum wage to match the cost-of-living. This bipartisan legislation was first introduced by Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03). Rep. Bresnahan is the first cosponsor of the Fair Wage Act.
“Every Pennsylvanian who works hard deserves a fair wage that rewards hard work and keeps up with the cost of living,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “No one working full-time should struggle to put food on the table or keep a roof over their head. Raising the minimum wage is about restoring fairness, rewarding hard work, and ensuring every worker in our communities can provide for their family. I am proud to stand firmly with NEPA workers as the first cosponsor of this legislation, and I will continue to support policies that reward hard work and build a stronger middle class.”
The Fair Wage Act would increase the minimum wage for the first time in 16 years and would adjust over time for inflation.
“As we mark Labor Day, we are reminded of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s proud history of hardworking men and women whose grit built our communities,” continued Rep. Bresnahan. “From the coal mines and factories to today’s small businesses and service industries, our region has always been powered by blue-collar workers. Raising the minimum wage honors that legacy by ensuring that every worker earns a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work, and that the next generation can thrive right here at home.”
“Across America, families are working hard, playing by the rules, and still falling behind. That is proof our federal minimum wage system is broken. A fair wage in Pennsylvania should not be measured against standards built for New York City or rural Arkansas,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick. “The Fair Wage Act is a commonsense, bipartisan fix. It respects regional differences, protects small businesses, and—above all—empowers working families to build a better life. I’m proud to lead this effort, and grateful to my friend and neighbor Congressman Bresnahan for joining the fight to ensure every Pennsylvanian—and every American—earns the fair pay they deserve.
Specifically, the Fair Wage Act:
Indexes the federal minimum wage to the cost of living in each region using Bureau of Labor Statistics and Bureau of Economic Analysis data.
Gradually phases in a minimum wage floor based on 50% of the national average hourly wage.
Sets fair wage baselines for tipped workers (30% of regional minimum) and for employees 18 and under (two-thirds of the regional minimum).
SHAPIRO PREPARES FOR NATIONAL GUARD
Governor Josh Shapiro said his administration has been getting ready for a potential National Guard takeover in Philadelphia following President Trump's actions in Los Angeles and other major cities.
He said, "We've received no word that it is imminent by any stretch, but, given what the president's rhetoric has been, given the way he has acted, and what's clear about the court decision (Tuesday), the way he's acted outside the bounds of the law, the president's decision in Los Angeles; ruled to be unconstitutional. We have been preparing for this."
According to CBS News, Shapiro did not give details about the preparations.
The governor also said it was a "wrongheaded decision" to put the National Guard on the streets of Los Angeles.
President Trump has said he plans to deploy the National Guard to Baltimore, Maryland and Chicago, Illinois as well. So Pennsylvania National Guard is going to guard itself?

SESAME STREET
DEBUTS
This week in 1969 Sesame Street first aired. The Street was groundbreaking in terms of childhood education and the way children learned the basics of entering into society.
Sesame Street was an American educational children's television series that combines live-action, sketch comedy, animation, and puppetry. It is produced by Sesame Workshop (known as the Children's Television Workshop until June 2000) and was created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett. It is known for its images communicated through the use of Jim Henson's Muppets, and includes short films, with humor and cultural references. It premiered on November 10, 1969, to positive reviews, some controversy,[13] and high viewership. It has aired on the United States national public television provider PBS since its debut, with its first run moving to premium channel HBO on January 16, 2016, then its sister streaming service HBO Max in 2020, and most recently Netflix in 2025.
The show's format consists of a combination of commercial television production elements and techniques which have evolved to reflect changes in American culture and audiences' viewing habits. It was the first children's TV show to use educational goals and a curriculum to shape its content, and the first show whose educational effects were formally studied. Its format and content have undergone significant changes over the years to reflect changes to its curriculum.
Shortly after its creation, its producers developed what came to be called the CTW Model (after the production company's previous name), a system of planning, production, and evaluation based on collaboration between producers, writers, educators, and researchers. The show was initially funded by government and private foundations but has become somewhat self-supporting due to revenues from licensing arrangements, international sales and other media partners…..and this week in 1969 the number one song in LuLac and America was “A Boy Named Sue” by Johnny Cash.
