CONVENTION CONFIDENTIAL

DAY THREE

The house rocked last night in St. Paul when former candidates for President and future candidates took the stage to tout their chances for the fall. Delegte Michael Taluto sent this dispatch:
"Sarah, Sarah, Sarah was the chant of the night. Wow!!!It was as a great experience to be part of history last night. Sarah introduced herself to the America public. She hit a home run. What a breath of fresh air. There was so much energy in the room you could feel it all the way back in Northeastern, Pennsylvania.
Well, Scranton made history again. She was speaking to our values and spirit of our people in Northeastern Pennsylvania. What a great image of mother and her family on the stage for the world to see. Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin will surely win the hearts of Northeastern, Pennsylvania. She made a direct appeal to our small towns from Scranton, Dunmore, Wilkes-Barre, White Haven, Honesdale, Tunkhannock and Towanda."
Those small towns, typically Republican will aid the effort of the McCain campaign. If anything, this pick, the speech, the entire package has energized the GOP. It will be a tough road ahead but no one can say that the Republicans are not excited about the ticket coming out of St. Paul.

SHORT SHOTS

Tonight, John McCain gives his speech. Expperts are expecting a mehodical discourse on why he isn't George Bush and what he can do for the country......The national media is beside itself on this experience issue. It will only serve to fire up the GOP base and expose a weakness in the Obama camp.....There's been a run on Sarah Palin eyewear across the country. Only in America. If she wore granny glasses, you'd see a spike in those sales.......and "the boyfriend" , Bristol palin's intended showed up front and center suited up and holding hands for all of us.

A couple observations...

Sarah Palin's glasses are a very, very expensive line called Kawasaki, largely retailing in the 1K plus range for frames alone. If you have the inclination and the money, Engle Eyewear on 315 carries the name.

Alaska's population is not much more than that of Lu-Lac combined. Does it matter? Voters will decide.

McCain either made the brilliant move of all time, or he blew each and every toe off of each foot. Time will tell.

Palin is not Hillary. They are polar opposites, with the only thing they share being both female. If Hillary supporters run to Palin, they were a pack of fools to begin from the start. Her values are not those of Clinton, not even close.

McCain is looking more and more like some of the retired guys who spend their days at the mall. Sorry, but he is. I personally believe him to be a great American, a patriot and hero, but his time has come and gone.

In another time, I could vote for John McCain. Today, I could not.

America is in deplorable shape. To think otherwise is absurd. The joke is getting old, but my 401K is looking more like my 301K. The market is in shambles, and that can be laid directly on the White House steps.

The current administration has done nothing towards health care, including pharmaceuticals. Gas prices can be controlled, the current R crew in DC has decided not to even try. Worse yet by far, the White House wannabes now gathered in St. Paul aren't even talking about health care.

Final thought; the pregnancy deal should not be part of any discussion. That's the theory, and I strongly feel it's off limits. It will, though, take on a life of its own, as will some other things in Palin's life.

It really comes down to the old heat and kitchen thing.

As family of mine living in Alaska once said to me, "Everyone here is either running to something...or they're running from something."
