"The Republican Party endorsement process was handled very professional and orderly by Renita Fennick and Terry Casey and the vote was to endorse Nanda Palassary, I would like to extend my congratulations to Nanda. I think that most of the Committee people chose not to endorse any candidate and that was there right and opinion and I feel those that did endorse a candidate had a historical place in the Republican Party in Luzerne County and I appreciate all those that did vote to endorse me as the Candidate for Luzerne County. Controller. I look forward to continue my quest to win the Primary in May for County Controller as well as the Government Study Commission."

Walter Griffith says "I think that most of the Committee people chose not to endorse any candidate..." WHAT?????? To me "most of the people" "50 percent plus 1." 3 for Coffman, 39 for Giffith, 51 for Palissery, 19 for Sypniewski, 3 for Edddddd, 17 to not endorse. So 87 percent voted to endorse a candidate. Controller is a "numbers" job. If Walter doesn't know how to add up to "most," then the controller job is way over his head.

Walter, 87 percent vote to endorse? That's at least a majority, if not "most," and you wanna be controller. My minimum qualification for a controller is the ability to understand what "most" or "majority" means.

Dear Anonymous,
I sent the information to Lu Lac as a service to help everyone understand the vote and to provide the data. I never said anything about 87% in my reply,
I am a person that wants to keep everyone informed as much as possible and take exception to your remarks regarding not being able to determine the difference between "Most and Majority" I was simply trying to provide a recap of the voting process and would appreciate the information being used in that context.
This information was issued for Dave Yonki to post on the blog for information purposes and not as a tool to be used to unfairly "Bash" my ability to represent the taxpayers of Luzerne County as County Controller.
I do know numbers and I will represent the people fairly and honestly in the County Controller's Office

IN RESPONSE

WALTER SENT THESE THINGS IN AS RAW NUMBERS. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS TO JUST TELL MY READERS WHO WON THE ENDORSEMENT AND LEAVE OUT THE ACTUAL NUMERIC INFORMATION. BUT I FIGURED SINCE MR. GRIFFITH IS THE MOST TRANSPARENT (TO A FAULT SOMETIMES) CANDIDATE OUT THERE, I'D SHOW YOU THE NUMBERS. HOWEVER, AS THE OLD SAYING GOES, "NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED." THIS INFORMATION IS NOT A POOR REFLECTION ON MR. GRIFFITH'S ABILITY TO BE A GREAT CONTROLLER MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT THAT. IT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES HOW ANYTHING HE PRESENTS OR RESEARCHES IS OPEN TO ALL COMERS.

I fear that the County GOP is doing the old faces thing again. Carolee over Walkter Mitchell? C'mon. Let's think this thing through folks. A guy, an attorney no less who says the Controller position won't be a full time job over a guy who promised it will be a full time effort? I can smell a Dem sweep in the making.

As far as I'm concerned Carolee or Mayor Mitchell would do well in the general over the gray Dems that are trying to succeed Moran. Either is way more colorful than the clowns the Dems are proposing.

WAlter Griffith deserves a shot for public office. The guy might be a pain in the butt but you can be sure there would be no debit card deal with him watching over things!

If anyone, any thinking person in this county votes Democratic for anyone, they are out of their cotton picking minds!!!!!!

...Seems clear cut to me.

132 of 272 Republican committee people voted. 140 therefore did NOT.

Most chose NOT to endorse any candidate by failing to return their ballot. (And that drives me crazy...it took about 2 minutes to fill out this ballot. How will the GOP change the face of this county if their committee members can't take two minutes to fill out a ballot and pop it in the mail? Wake up, folks!)

Thanks, Walter...and LULAC...for getting this information to us...

Look, Griffith's a good guy, but Palissery's clearly the most qualified, professional guy for the job. That "full-time" stuff is crap -- it's not a 9 to 5 job and the controller ain't a store clerk. He's a manager and leader, period. And Carolee, well as I remember she's flakier than a Betty Crocker crust. We want educated pros running our county, not people with nothing better to do all day!

Endorsing Medico, a disaster last time out is bad enough, but so many no shows in voting for endorsements by committee members makes me wonder if these are really Republicans or Democrats trying to subvert a comeback for the GOP in Luzerne County.

Anon 4:58 - What qualifications does Nanda have that Walter does not? None. In addition, Nanda is an attorney - from Luzerne County - wouldn't trust him under ANY circumstances. The county bar is the next place federal law enforcement agencies need to investigate. Not saying Nanda is dirty by any means, but look at who his associates are...

I think that Walter Griffith is a good guy as well and most qualified to be a "Professional" Controller. Your statement taht the Controller's job "it's not a 9 to 5 job and the controller ain't a store clerk. He's a manager and leader, period." is the reason why the Courthouse is in a shambles today. We need a Controller that is a person that is on the job being a leader and manager "Full Time. How can you lead by example and how can you manage an office if you are not there to see what is going on in that office. Lets get with the program in this County and stop accepting people that "Pay to Play" and people that have other jobs that will be a conflict of interest for the County. Walter has demonstrated time and time again that he is a person with ideas and the ability to do what is right for the Citizens of Luzerne County.
