DOCTOR ROBERT

State Senator Robert J. Mellow received the Commonwealth Medical College’s school’s first honorary degree. The school’s dean Robert D’Alessandri cited Mellow’s “steadfast support, his belief and his passion” for the school. Mellow, in the forefront of seed money for the medical school got a standing ovation from the more than 600 in attendance. Mellow has been a State Senator since 1971.

A FRIENDLIER VENUE

Having his head handed to him numerous times at town hall meetings, Senator Arlen Specter is assured of at least one friendly venue next month. President Obama will attend a fundraiser for the Republican-turned-Democrat next month.The Philadelphia Daily News and Pa2010.com reports that Comcast executive and Democratic heavyweight David Cohen is helping organizing the Sept. 15 fundraiser at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Gov. Ed Rendell and Mayor Michael Nutter are also expected to attend, and guests at a big-money dinner will get their picture taken with Specter and the president.

Mellow gets another 25 years in office for landing the Med School.

Yankees to town, too! Mellow is pushing the envelope recently according to what I read. Paying yourself rent is probably an old political trick and he's worked them all it appears. In office since 1971 is just too long and outside interests are too great for this man to continue. Thanks for your service, Bob. Now shove off! At least to another office.

Your missing the big picture. Bob sits on the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee. He collects a salary for sitting on the NEPA Blue Cross Board of directors. He sits on a board of an industry that he should regulate.

Who gave the big money for the med school to open? Blue Cross anyone? Did they offer you a rebate in premiums???
